Well, the consensus seems to be against it. I have to admit, think the size of the board mitigates against it, as I dont think there are the numbers to justify it. As Firecat says, if you dont like those posts, dont click on them. However, it would make some posters feel a bit more at ease (and I am more talking about the readers than the posters of such reports here, lol) if they were a bit harder to access. But that would disadvantage posters like stjinte, who hadnt posted at all before he started reading trip reports earlier this year to get info prior to his first visit. So it is a conundrum. It would be interesting to see though,as an experiment, if at least one of the main gay Thai boards tried it out for a few months.

Trip Reports can be a divisive topic in this forum, while they are the most popular sorts of threads, there can be controversies about the subject matter and level of details. Many people like to see pics of the guys, and to get all the full account of encounters, while some others dislike having the details of the sex lives of others laid open for all to see. Others like them but worry about "outsiders" seeing details the shouldn't or have legitimate concerns that some working guys might not appreciate their pictures being up where all and sundry, such as maybe their workmates from the bar, can see. In the (much larger) straight forums focused on Pattaya and the nightlife, one common solution to this problem is to have an "Advanced member" section, This is a section where only trusted members, those who have demonstrated there bona fides in some way, can post. In one well known forum, you have to have made 50 good-quality posts before you can get admittance to the section. In this section, some more detail is posted of peoples adventures in the bars and massage parlours. there is an understanding all the salacious details of what went on in the bedroom may be posted, plenty of uncensored photos, etc. The main advantage being, as it is an a "fenced off" section of the forum, prying eyes can not see it, you cannot just join up and be reading five minutes later, you have to prove yourself first before you can view that area. Also, it make sit easy for all those who are embarrassed to read the gory details to avoid them So what are the disadvantages? One obvious one is that this forum (like all the Thailand gay forums) has quite a small audience. If you whittle the readership down to all who have made 50 posts (or more realistically, 25 or 20) you will get a fairly small number. And if they are only posting trip reports in that forum, you might only get one thread a week or less. So you would have the ""tumbleweed" problem - no one looks at the forum because there are few threads, few people looking at it mean few people think of posting, etc. But there are ways to counter this of course, such as making that "Advanced forum" the first in the forum list for everybody, even if they cannot see it to make sure they are aware of it, encouraging people to post "G-rated" trip reports in the main forum at the same time as the post more naughty versions of same in the "Advanced forum", so people realise what they are missing, etc. Or perhaps (if it would be possible), letting ordinary member see the postings in the Advanced forum, but not the pictures unless they were Advanced members? So, what do people think?

Thanks for the video clip Vessey, brought back happy memories of sitting in Boyztown of an evening! This thread is getting a bit bizarre with the news that some of the critics of Vessey's posts proclaiming that they have him on ignore anyway, thus meaning that they only have second hand accounts of the threads....perhaps keeping out of the discussion totally would be an idea then? I detest those right-wing Christian campaigners as much as the next person, but when some of the establishments mentioned have facebook pages, I think the cat is rather rout of the bag already. The str8 side of this is so open, with several forums (including some where Vessey posts accounts of his str8 activities, to considerably much more appreciation than he gets here) posting multiples of the threads here, and far more explicitly, that I think we are probably fairly far down the list.

I want to add my voice to those who love your trip reports. I thought it was a brilliant report and I hope you ignore the stupid trolls and keep postings them!

Speaking as one individual, I must say that I really enjoyed visiting the beaches and temples of Thailand, and they are part of the reason I have come several times. When choosing a holiday destination I aim to have both gay fun and see the World's best sights - hence going to places like Berlin, Barcelona and Thailand where it is possible to have both. Another important aspect from a "conventional" tourist point of view is the handiness of Bangkok as a hub for for a western Europeans heading East - I have use Bangkok as a hub on trips to Laos, Cambodia, Bali, etc, as much because it was the cheapest and handiest as because it enabled me to have a few nights of fun in BKK on the way.

I must say that I appreciate that the pics dont seem to be too touched up, four pics from different angles, seem to give a good impression of what the guy is like.

By host bar I mean a bar where there are guys in street clothes to keep you company, join you for drinks, etc. and who are usually offable. As opposed to a gogo bar where there are guys in skimpy clothing and dancing on stage, and who are always offable The Jomtien Complex has several gay host bars.

There are two Bamboo bars in Pattaya, the straight one is on Pattaya Second Road (almost at the junction with Walking St), the gay one is on Thappraya Road in Jomtien (almost on the junction with Jomtien Beach Road). Very different places, don't get them mixed up! Surprised the gay Bamboo Bar doesnt get more mentions on the gay boards, the Bamboo bar is the the only male "host bar" in the Pattaya area open before 5 pm, AFAIK. Handy if you are on Dongtan beach and bored by 3-4 pm. I met a guy there once who I went on to have a relationship with for 18 months, so I have a bit of a soft spot for the place.....

The website is a bit hard to figure out, the seems to be providing straight guys for photo shoots, but they have a complicated systems of symbols that make it pretty clear that more is on offer ... I want to add my thanks to you Vessey, well written report and, unlike some others commenting on the thread, I really enjoyed the photographs specifically I like trip reports with a few photographs of the protagonists (not necessarily revealing ones) just so I can visualise who is being talked about. I sometimes have looked at straight boards (like the P-Addicts Board of which you are also a member) and felt a bit envious as there has in the past been much more TR's with photos on those boards. But between yourself and recently firecat there has been quite a few TR's recently where we got a glimpse of the hunks in question. I have looked at the Queen Vic as a place to stay before, and have been tempted by the jacuzzi suite, but the fact that it was obviously a straight place (and the Soi 6 location), put me off, as I was worried that I might be the subject of unwelcome stares from inside or outside the establishment as i came back to it of an evening with my guy for the night. However, your report has reassured me a bit. I might add it to my list for my next trip. Have you ever been in the jacuzzi room of the Queen Vic, Vessey? What didi you think of it? Plenty of room for a well-upholstered farang and a sturdy Thai hunk together?

Vinapu, are you sure you didn't mean "Waternest Spa" in Soi 39, rather than the "Waterworks spa"? According to Google, there is no such place as the "Waterworks spa" in that Soi, but there is a place called "Waternest" with several cute masseurs!

According to reports I have read, Blue House massage (in the Soi Day/Night area of Pattaya, behind TukCom) offer something called "foam massage" which i presume is the same as a soapie?

Bob, your point about the 51% victory is a valid one - I think it would be destabilising, and a far from ideal situation, but my point is denying the victors in a democratic referendum their choice would be even more destabilising. Perhaps if they had some rule that a major constitutional change would have to be approved by a majority in two referendums at least three years apart? I know that sounds a bit ridiculous, but the negotiations for Scottish independence are going to take years anyway – Alex Salmond has set a date of March 2016 for independence, but it probably won’t happen on schedule. Also, it is worth pointing out that the English and rUK people have had a say in the referendum (by proxy at least). David Cameron as AGREED to the referendum, on behalf of the British parliament and government. They couldn’t have held it without his agreement as PM of the UK. Also, the SNP won a majority of the seats in a Scottish general election in 2011, with an explicit manifesto promise of seeking independence. So that is two constitutional hurdles the independence vote crossed before the referendum date was set.

Let me reverse the question for you Bob. Do you think it is wise to deny people a change the have voted on and supported by a majority vote? Why should the current constitutional arrangements get precedence just because it is the status quo?

Funny story...it seems that the Celtic fringes of Europe unified in being sort of the polar opposite of Bangkok when it comes to gay ladyboy-style "glamour."

Sending out for fish and chips ...thats posh. I don't what to take the thread too off course, but that reminds me of when The George, the main gay pub in Dublin, had some similar type of license 20 years ago (they only used to have to do it week-days I think). What they did was they just cooked up a great big vat of spaghetti at about 11.30, and threw some bolognese sauce out of a packet on it (the end result was like something out of a Heinz spaghetti tin) Then a few of the staff went around dishing out the plates willy-nilly on tables, sometimes to the puzzlement of the less frequent patrons.Usually a table with say, four people would be given two plates and two forks, which lead to loads of "You might as well eat it"..."No YOU eat it, i would myself only I just ate, but it is a pity to waste it"... type of conversations. Most people were pretty indifferent to it, but what i always noticed that there were a gaggle of Trannies that used to frequent a table in an upstairs corner of a Thurday night, and they seemed to love it. There was one older one (who used to to come in a twinset and peals - looked like a cross of David Walliams in his "I'm a Ladeee" get-up, and Mrs. Thatcher), who would go over to the waiters (well, barmen really) and imperiously insist that their table get a plateful for every person sitting there. Which they got - obviously trying to the regulars happy. A friend of mine used to claim that they were so enthusiastic about it because somebody had told them that the barmen used to wank into the bolognese sauce before it was served up. Which wasnt exactly what you wanted to think about as you watched Mrs Doubtfire at the next table trying to suck in a long strand of spaghetti....

Series 2 of this has started on British Sky tv. The programme on Thursday evening was all about David, the Bangkok ladyboy lover. I must say I find David a completely unsympathetic character, although nothing he does is exactly "wrong" as such. It is just the supercilious way he does it. It will probably up on Youtube soon enough

Street view is now available in Google maps for Pattaya. Very clear pictures - it includes all of Boyztown, blinking in the morning sun. Seems a bit strange to see it in daylight!
