The Tarntawan was actually reasonably quiet, given its convenient location. I could hear the sound of motorbikes from time to time late at night in the first room I was given. When I booked for an additional night, I was asked to go from my room with a double bed to an opposite room with 2 single beds. That room was absolutely quiet. I liked having a bath to soak in as well. I didn't try the breakfast. Visitors show their ID at reception. Siam Heritage was equally quiet. Both are good value.
Quarter Silom is recommended for location, breakfast, gym, saunas, etc, though the pool location could be better
Quarter Saladaeng is worth considering. It's further away from the gay scene, but within walking distance.
