  1. Starsky & Hutch ... brings to mind Brokeback Mountain. David Soul is another TV personality of that era whom I had a crush on. Yes, RIP. More Information: David Soul, actor best known for his role in the TV series ‘Starsky & Hutch,’ dies at 80 (yahoo.com)
  2. "Sexually active people can get syphilis through vaginal, anal, or oral sex without a condom with a partner who has syphilis." Source: STD Facts - Syphilis (cdc.gov) It seems to me that it's fashionable for (desired by) many in the gay community to have unprotected sex (i.e., without a condom). Someone can give every appearance of being clean but still be contagious. "No other STI combines incurability with near-100% lethality in the absence of treatment as HIV does. But other STIs can have serious health consequences. The bacterial STIs – gonorrhoea, syphilis, chlamydia and chlamydia’s ‘superstrain’, lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), as well as other infections like Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) and trichomoniasis – are generally easily curable but may have serious health consequences in some people if left untreated. Syphilis may also cause serious symptoms in early disease, and drug resistance in gonorrhoea is of considerable concern. Source: PrEP and sexually transmitted infections | aidsmap For a long time now I've thought men on PrEP have been lulled into a sense of security, that it's safe to have any unprotected sex. Not true.
  3. Don't like any of those whom we interact with? Au contraire. The problem is not with them, but with those (of us) who lack the ability to successfully relate to others. It's universal, for sure.
  4. I'm thinking maybe you're not gay, or that you're recently out or young and without much interaction with or familiarity with many gay men. 👁
  5. Ok, I got through the first 7 minutes before shutting it off. He's not an "expat" whose residence is in Thailand, he's a tourist. It's no secret that for certain durations outside the USA many or most health insurance companies reimburse for emergencies. He's not talking about non-emergency care for which he could have purchased, legitimately, health care insurance. He gives off a tone of entitlement, he's going to beat the system. And he just might get caught one day. If this is the type of advice he offers on other videos, count me out as a viewer.
  6. Tommy Smothers died yesterday (12/26/2023). Those of us living in the USA in the 1960s, in particular, will remember him and his brother Dick and their televised music variety show and their strong opposition to the Vietnam War; vocal opposition that prompted CBS to cancel the popular show. The blond hair, blue-eyed Smothers was a former California state high school gymnastics champion (parallel bars). I had a crush on him at the time, with Richard Chamberlain, too. Tommy Smothers was 86. R I.P.
  7. Many do and / or have been in committed relationships for decades, pre-Obergefell (in the USA).
  8. Grindr has some free features but charges for most access. I don't pay but will consider doing so for some foreign travel. Where I live there are too many odd people participating , drug sales or solicitations, etc. I can now view 9 profiles without paying.
  9. No you're not. You're an idiot.
  10. There are degrees of mental illness displayed in contributions to this discussion thread, of that I am certain. Liars, trolls, attention-getters sitting in a recliner at home with nothing better to do but punch-out commentary to social media. And joking or not your post is a clear indication of the seriousness of the problem.
  11. Yes, we've come a long way. We've struggled for, endured so much. HIV / AIDs, the loss of so many of us and of a particular generation. That said, marriage equality at the federal level is uncertain. For the current composition of the U.S. Supreme Court - precedent is not always honored. Our rights may be at risk, particularly so if Donald J. Trump is elected President of the United States.
  12. I would not ask someone to mule medication for me, not at the quantity suggested in the OP. Doing so places the young man at risk. If I'd been with the person, enjoyed the time and he was returning gain to where I spent time with him I might be inclined to send the ticket / money. Maybe there's the possibility of another hook-up, out of gratitude. If I were taken advantage of by being kind, so be it. I've been burned giving money to escorts in the USA in response to appeals for help, but never the multiple times I did so when I lived in Mexico. It's a gut feeling type of decision.
  13. The Court will examine any liquidations made in anticipation of filing for bankruptcy - attempts to avoid paying his debts. The judgment in the defamation suit will be in full force and effect no matter this filing. He admitted guilt, which means he's 'on the hook' for life. Any income he earns going forward is almost certainly going to be attached for payment to the two women.
  14. With visits from residents of the USA, Canada and Australia January 10, 2024 and after, if we do not currently have a valid visa in our passports: https://brazil.vfsevisa.com
  15. If my understanding of one of the, or the principal promoter of that site which is linked is accurate ... it would be the very last service I would be inclined to patronize.
  16. I think you ignore him. If he persists in the PMs, "out" him by name and his (apparent) trolling. I know that (from personal experience) we sometimes post not in the best of times, under various substance influences ... and don't really mean what we say (post),
  17. Nothing wrong with it in the USA.
  18. The linked article doesn't provide many facts to back up the safety risk assertions. Local residents typically know where the safe / unsafe areas are, though. Not always, but usually. I was in Rio, maybe 15 years ago, when tourists waiting for a 'Bondinho de Santa Teresa' were at times, being beaten-up/robbed. I was sitting in the sand under an umbrella at Praia Ipanema not long after or maybe it was before the 'Bondinho' muggings period when a gang of young people from one of the favelas arrived and started hitting many people with clubs/bats, stealing personal belongings before running-off. And for decades, I'm recalling, hotel staff's in Cop.a have been warning guests leaving to visit parts of the city to leave valuables, cameras, bags, etc., behind because they thought there were dangers. Is the situation worse today than in years past, is this just another cycle of criminal activity that comes and goes? None of us is going to know that.
