  1. The frustrating thing is the CDC wants to shut-up this doctor and the few others who question their policies. The "settled science" crowd is really scary. No questions allowed. Here's a quote from the CDC site: Getting COVID-19 may offer some protection, known as natural immunity. Current evidence suggests that reinfection with the virus that causes COVID-19 is uncommon in the months after initial infection, but may increase with time. The risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19 far outweighs any benefits of natural immunity. COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you by creating an antibody (immune system) response without having to experience sickness.

  3. He's saying those who have had Covid should have a test for antibody activity before your vaccinated. It could lead to complications. J&J’s COVID-19 Vaccine Blood Clotting Complications: Did The Adversely Affected Women Have Previous Natural Infections? Hooman Noorchashm 1 day ago·5 min read In my opinion, it’s unlikely that the J&J COVID-19 vaccine is intrinsically defective. It is far more likely that its indiscriminate administration to persons recently or currently infected with SARS-COV-2 is the source of the problem. Today, 4/13/2021, FDA is halting use of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S., because of six severe complications involving blood clots in young women. Clearly, this halt is problematic for our vaccine effort in the United States and worldwide. However, because of the severe nature of these complications, it is critical for FDA and CDC to undertake a robust and transparent root cause analysis of the problem. Because it is very likely that these reported complications are the tip of a larger iceberg of hazard. For those who have been following my public advocacy efforts, since January 2021, I’ve been warning our public health leaders at FDA and the leadership of the COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers about the possibility of thromboembolic events when indiscriminately vaccinating those recently infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. You may read my original warnings HERE and HERE. I do not suspect that the clotting complications from the J&J vaccine is specific to that company’s brand. In fact, I am of the opinion that both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are also causing blood clotting problems that are being missed and downplayed by FDA and CDC — specifically because of the lax and passive adverse event detection and reporting systems in place, and because of the critical urgency of achieving herd immunity to the virus. In other words, I am quite confident that the J&J vaccine is NOT intrinsically defective or dangerous— neither are the Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca versions of these vaccines. Rather, in my opinion, it is highly likely that inappropriate and indiscriminate administration of these vaccines to persons recently or concurrently infected with the natural SARS-CoV-2 virus is the cause of the clotting complications. From a scientific and mechanistic perspective, there is almost no question that following a natural infection the antigenic footprint of the SARS-CoV-2 virus remains in the infected tissues of the host for some time. These include the inner lining of arteries and veins, the heart muscle and the nervous system. When the vaccine force re-activates the immune system against Spike protein antigens in a recently infected person, the immune response to the vaccine will target these tissues and cause inflammatory damage. In the case of blood vessels, damage to their inner lining from inflammation, could result in acute formation of blood clots. So, in my opinion, the most critical aspect of the root-cause-analysis FDA and CDC owe the American people in investigating these clotting complications is to determine if the affected women were previously infected with SARS-CoV-2. Fortunately, there is a simple blood test that can adjudicate this question with a high degree of precision. That is, the presence of blood SARS-CoV-2 “Nucleocapsid” antibodies in the affected persons. These antibodies will only be present in the blood of previously naturally infected persons. So, it is going to be critical for FDA and CDC to assess the blood from the persons experiencing any clotting complications for the presence the Nucleocapsid antibodies. In fact, I am of the opinion that ALL persons experiencing ANY adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination should have their blood evaluated for the presence of Nucleocapsid antibodies to determine if they had been previously infected. This morning, when news of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine pause became public I immediately sent sent two emails to Drs. Woodcock and Marks at FDA in this regard. I have yet to hear a response from FDA. Irrespective, given the occurrence of the clotting complications at this time, it is my hope that FDA, CDC, J&J and other vaccine manufacturers will work quickly and methodically to determine if indiscriminate vaccination of the recently infected is a safety problem. I do suspect that if these public health leaders ignore this question and if these clotting complications continue to occur, even further public mistrust in FDA process and in the vaccine’s safety will be stoked. Imagine, if the recently infected are at higher risk of vaccine complications, and if our FDA and CDC actually do make this determination and then work robustly to mitigate against harm to such recently infected persons….Imagine, the level of public trust and confidence the United States government agencies will re-earn. I have my doubts, based on past in experience, that FDA or CDC can pull out of their draconian and stifled process to think and act cogently in the best interest of public health. BUT, even if our public health leaders and their “expert” advisors believe these clotting complications to be unrelated to prior recent infection, because my scientific prognostication is actually cogent, it is critical for the following root-cause-analysis questions to be answered by FDA and CDC with all urgency: Drs. Marks, Wollensky and Woodcock, were the six young American women who experienced the clotting complications following COVID-19 vaccination recently or previously infected — and, specifically, do they carry anti-SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid antibodies in their blood? Because if the answer to these questions is “YES”, then the United States and the rest of the world should be EXCEEDINGLY cautious about indiscriminately vaccinating the recently infected — as there is good scientific reason to suspect causality and, thus, harm. If the answer is “NO”, then due diligence has been exercised — and it is likely that the J&J and AstrZeneca vaccines are intrinsically dangerous in some people, likely based on their Adenovirus delivery mechanism. If this is the case, these brands of the COVID-19 vaccine should be entirely abandoned in favor of the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. As I stated before, my scientific opinion and immunological prognostication is that the COVID-19 vaccines are NOT intrinsically defective or dangerous, but rather that their indiscriminate administration to recently and previously infected persons is the source of a hazard we can easily mitigate in America and the rest of the world by using #ScreenB4Vaccine. Now, time will tell. I write in defense of US public health and in the name of Dr. Amy Josephine Reed of Yardley, PA. Hooman Noorchashm MD, PhD https://noorchashm.medium.com/

  5. The secret lives of straight-identifying men who hook up with other men explored in new book Tony Silva is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the University of British Columbia. His areas of research include gender, sexuality, and rural sociology. But he’s probably best known for being the guy who coined the term “bud-sex.” Related: More and more straight guys are giving up “bro jobs” and engaging in “dude sex” They have wives. They have kids. They consider themselves 100% heterosexual. But they’re also able to compartmentalize sex in a way that allows them to get it on with other dudes without complicating anything. Related: Why more straight guys are going to all-male jerk-off clubs Silva has since expanded that study into a full-length book. Still Straight: Sexual Flexibility among White Men in Rural America explores the secret lives of straight-identifying men who have sex with other men on the DL. We had a chance to catch up with him about the book, his latest research, and to get his take on that whole Jerry Falwell Jr. pool boy sex scandal from last summer. Here’s what he had to say… When you first spoke a few years ago about a study you had published about “bud-sex,” which is a term you coined. Now, you’ve expanded that study into an entire book called Still Straight. I never asked you then, so I’ll ask you now… How did you first become interested in this subject? One thing I find fascinating is when behaviors do not seem to match the identities people have. Sexuality in particular is something many people consider important to who they are, so I decided to study this topic. There also isn’t a lot known about sexuality in rural areas or small towns, so I thought it would be interesting to examine this issue. Why do you think gay men are so fascinated by the subject of straight men having gay sex? I think one reason why is that straight men seem completely off limits–but some are in fact open to sex with other guys. I think that’s one thing gay men find interesting. Plus, a lot of gay men have hooked up with straight guys, so they know that some straight guys do this, and it’s interesting to learn more about the topic. On top of that, a very small percentage of men identify as gay or bisexual. It’s intriguing to think that there are actually many more men who enjoy sex with other men, but who are secretive about it. You spoke to 60 straight-identifying men over the course of several years. That, to me, suggests that this whole “straight dudes having sex with straight dudes” phenomenon is a lot more common than people might imagine Would you say that’s accurate? It is definitely accurate. There are more straight guys who have sex with other men than most people would think. Many of the guys I talked to told me that directly. From government surveys I analyzed, I found that several hundred thousand straight men in the U.S., at least, have had sex with two or more men. Most are secretive about their behavior, though, so it was a challenge to find men who were willing to talk to me. Why do these men still identify as straight? Why are they not considered bisexual? While many people understandably think that men are “closeted” if they have sex with other men yet identify as straight, this is not exactly true. Sexual identities may describe how individuals perceive themselves, but they do not always indicate a person’s attractions or sexual behaviors. These men are secretive about their sexual behavior, but not their identity. In fact, sexual encounters with men are mostly irrelevant to their identity. Hundreds of thousands of men in the U.S. identify as #straight yet have had consensual sex with multiple men. My forthcoming book #StillStraight: Sexual Flexibility among White Men in Rural America helps explain why. (1/9) https://t.co/RQV0f2npDE — Tony Silva (@Sociology_Silva) March 15, 2021 What is the most surprising thing you learned from your research? A few things really surprised me. First, a majority of the guys I talked to actually supported equal legal rights for LGB people. Second, many of the married men thought that sex with other guys was not cheating. It was almost like a loophole in their marriage contract. And third, when I first began talking to these guys, I was surprised that many loved to bottom and give oral sex. Interestingly, many said that bottoming for another guy was an opportunity to have sex but without feeling the pressures they did when they had sex with a woman. I did not expect to hear that. Last summer, evangelist leader Jerry Falwell Jr. made headlines after it was reported he enjoyed masturbating while watching his wife have sex with younger men. Now, I realize cuckolding and “bud-sex” are technically two different things. (One involves being a live witness, the other involves being an active participant.) But they sort of fall into the same general wheelhouse. I imagine, if the reports about Falwell are accurate, he used the same logic the men in your research use when hooking up—it’s not actually “gay” because he doesn’t identify as “gay.” Would you say that’s probably true? Or is a man watching another man have sex different than actually engaging in homosexual activity? That’s a good question. Many guys do not consider something to be gay or bisexual so long as they do not touch another guy. On top of that, many men feel like sex is “straight” when a woman is involved. Whether a man is watching another man have sex with a woman, or a man is having a “threesome” with a woman and another guy, many men feel like something is not gay or bisexual if a woman is involved. Of course, as the guys I talked to also pointed out, even sex between men is not necessarily perceived as gay or bisexual if a guy sees himself as straight. Labels have been a hot topic within the LGBTQ community in recent years, and especially among younger generations. A lot of queer people feel they are outdated, simplistic, and don’t accurately describe who they are. We’re a lot more layered and complex than just “gay,” “lesbian,” or “bisexual.” Do you think heterosexuals are having a similar realization? Could we be seeing the beginning of a larger shift in how those belonging to the mainstream “straight” community view themselves? I think this is definitely the case with women. Surveys show that increasing numbers of women in the U.S., especially young women, have had sex with other women. Most straight women don’t have sex with other women, but the numbers are rising. Men’s sexual behaviors haven’t changed as much, at least from what surveys show. A big reason why is that many men feel like having sex with another guy would threaten their masculinity. Same-sex sexuality is also underreported due to social stigma, so I’m sure many men do hook up with other guys but don’t tell anyone about it. Still, today straight women are more comfortable exploring their sexuality than are straight men. Of course, some straight men do have sex with other guys—and I talked to a bunch of them!

  11. HIV Vaccine Trial Shows 97 Percent Effectiveness in Humans In a recent trial, a vaccine yielded success in nearly all participants, and it may be effective against other diseases. A potential HIV vaccine is showing very promising results in Phase I human trials, according to Scripps Research and IAVI, a nonprofit research organization that develops vaccines and antibodies for HIV and other diseases. The vaccine works by stimulating the production of rare immune cells that generate HIV-resistant antibodies. Such a result was found in 97 percent of human participants administered the potential vaccine. The findings were presented at the International AIDS Society HIV Research for Prevention conference in early February but have only recently generated media attention. Since HIV emerged as a pandemic in the early 1980s, scientists have been trying to figure out a way to outsmart the wily virus, which easily morphs into different strains and makes it difficult to create an effective immune response. The potential vaccine has initially shown efficacy in prompting certain cells to create antibodies that can fend off HIV in its various iterations. An HIV vaccine would have enormous global benefits; currently around 38 million people around the world are living with the disease, which can now be controlled through medication. Researchers believe the potential vaccine could yield benefits in the fight against other diseases, like malaria and influenza. The next steps with this potential HIV vaccine will be additional clinical trials. “This study demonstrates proof of principle for a new vaccine concept for HIV, a concept that could be applied to other pathogens, as well,” William Schief, Ph.D., a professor and immunologist at Scripps Research and executive director of vaccine design at IAVI's Neutralizing Antibody Center, said in a statement. “With our many collaborators on the study team, we showed that vaccines can be designed to stimulate rare immune cells with specific properties, and this targeted stimulation can be very efficient in humans. We believe this approach will be key to making an HIV vaccine and possibly important for making vaccines against other pathogens.”

  13. Queer as Folk Reboot Is a Go, Will Take Place in the South Queer as Folk American cast courtesy Showtime First Manchester, then Pittsburgh, and now the Crescent City. Groundbreaking gay television show Queer as Folk is coming back to TV in a brand new way. Peacock, the streaming service from NBC and its sister channels, has given creator Stephen Dunn (Little America) a straight-to-series eight-episode order for a new take on Queer as Folk. The new version of the classic show will "explore a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy." The orginal British series was created by Russell T. Davies and starred Aidan Gillen, Craig Kelly, and Charlie Hunnam as three gay men living in Manchester, England in the late 1990s. That was followed by a Showtime series, set in the American Rust Belt city of Pittsburgh, that lasted for five seasons, from 2000 to 2005. It starred Gale Harold, Randy Harrison, Peter Paige, Hal Sparks and Sharon Gless. It was one of the first American TV shows to focus on the lives of gay men; actresses Michelle Clunie and Thea Gill also portrayed a lesbian couple that's part of the men's circle. "It is a surreal honor to adapt the notoriously groundbreaking series by Russell T. Davies," Dunn said in a press release. "When the show originally aired, the idea of unapologetic queer stories on TV was so provocative that I felt I could only watch Queer as Folk in secret. But so much has changed in the last 20 years and how wonderful would it be if the next generation didn’t have to watch Queer as Folk alone in their dank basements with the sound muted, but with their family and friends and the volume cranked all the way to the max ..." Dunn recently won a GLAAD Media Special Recogniton Award for the episode "The Son" from Little America, which is an anthology series on Apple TV+. Lee Eisenberg, who worked with Dunn on that episode, will executive produce Queer as Folk, alongside Davies, his producing partner Nicola Shindler, Emily Brecht, and Richard Halliwell. The show was initially envisioned as a scripted show for Bravo, the channel known for the Real Housewives series, but ended up at Peacock. As the series is set in New Orleans, we are all hoping to see more people of color, and specifically, Black queer men, on this iteration of Queer as Folk. Including trans and more female characters (and their sex scenes!) wouldn't hurt either. But most of all, we're excited to see queer actors play roles where they can be proudly out and get the focus their stories deserve.

  18. Call Me by Your Name author ‘humbled’ by Lil Nas X’s unapologetically gay tribute Maggie Baska April 6, 2021 (Photo by Leonardo Cendamo/Getty Images/YouTube/Lil Nas X) Call Me By Your Name author André Aciman says it is “gratifying” and “humbling” that his gay novel could have the “slightest influence” on how Lil Nas X decided to name his hit song. “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” has taken the world by storm, inspiring countless memes and classic TikTok videos. The unapologetically gay song drew 46.9 million US streams and sold 21,000 downloads in its first week, according to MRC Data, and attracted 1.1 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week ending 4 April. Lil Nas X’s hit has also reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts on Monday (5 April), less than two weeks after its debut. The hit song shared the title of the 2007 gay romance novel by Aciman, which led to the subsequent 2017 film starring Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet. The song doesn’t take its direct inspiration from the Call Me By Your Name novel or the film, but Aciman said it was “humbling” that Lil Nas X used the phrase. Them contacted André Aciman last year when Lil Nas X first teased about “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” in July. Aciman sent Them an emailed statement heaping praise on the Grammy-winning rapper. “If Call Me by Your Name had even the slightest influence on Lil Nas X’s music, then that’s beyond anything I could have ever imagined or hoped for,” Aciman said. “It’s gratifying, it’s humbling and it reminds me that how others relate to and interpret this novel is often more meaningful than the actual words on the page.” Aciman told Them that his son had introduced him to Lil Nas X after he “kept hearing” about this song – “Old Town Road” – “at the gym”. He said: “I wanted to download it on Spotify. “After a series of bad imitations and descriptions, he was finally able to figure out what I was talking about: ‘Old Town Road’.”
