I visited Complices Spa in Bogota this evening which is a Thursday. I’m surprised by the articles you referenced (which most definitely does not mean they are inaccurate in any way). The gentleman I see most frequently in Brazil takes PrEP - and has explained to me how to get it in Brazil which is the source of the info I provided - but obviously that’s a sample size of one so it’s really meaningless. In any case though, I started taking PrEP not because I hate condoms but because I like using Grindr which results in me periodically bottoming for attractive but random strangers; some of whom occasionally turn out to be truly awful human beings that remove the condom we both agreed to use mid-fuck without consent. My point is two fold: I would think a GP working in a sauna would share my fear/experience and start taking PrEP if given the opportunity and if you’re taking PrEP - which I fully understand isn’t right for everyone - it’s basically just one less thing to worry about.

Huh….? PrEP is available and free (or at least very affordable) in Brazil (and many other places too) if you happen to be man that has sex with other men (or a woman that has sex with men in exchange reias). It’s been that way for several years now.

Yes, I am fortunate to be in a line of work that I like (most days) and I suppose that sadly you are right, some GPs do it because they are forced to and don’t have a choice but I do want to point out that is just one end of the spectrum. There is at least some middle ground here were a person - with thoughts and feelings and agency - decides to be a GP and does it on terms he is comfortable with. For example, my most favorite part of Rio that I mentioned earlier, most definitely does fuck tourists for reias but you will never find him at 202 or 117 (they are “não limpo” according to him, please don’t hate) and he asks new potential clients to verify using snap or video chat before meeting for the first time. I posted about this a while ago somewhere on here but my most favorite part of Rio just fell asleep on my chest one night after a dinner of caipirinhas and sushi and now just generally assumes he is going to stay overnight when I see him which is fine with me. My understanding of his logic is some combination of that the hotel bed is more comfortable than his bed, I don’t snore, he likes to get sucked off in the morning - which has become a running joke between us - and the hotel I usually stay at has a good breakfast. If overnight is something you want, I’d try and work toward making the guy you want comfortable rather than attempting to offer him significantly more cash.

I started reading the gay Thailand forum years ago when I started traveling to SE Asian in my late-20’s and then started reading this one during COVID and eventually figured out that I like most things about Brazil better than Thailand plus it is a lot closer. Brazil is a magical place where mature dogs are able to have their day frequently. In my completely unscientific estimation, if I went to Steamworks in Chicago this weekend there is about a 10% to 20% chance of me being invited to do “gay stuff” with a hot 22 year old in the dry sauna whereas if I go back to Hotel Chilli in SP I’d say the odds increase to about 80% or 90%.

The place is a really big really popular bathhouse. Overnight accommodations are available but I didn’t do that. I went on a Friday or Saturday night in October and the place was packed with locals aged 18 to 80 with the majority in their 30’s. If that sounds like something you might be interested in, I’d definitely recommend.

I went to Club 117 today (Tuesday) after a long absence. Boys significantly out numbered clients and much of what was available had too much muscle for my taste. I will be traveling to Bogotá and Medellín with my boyfriend soon. While in Colombia, we want to visit a bathhouse. Babylon Baths in Bogotá appears to be exactly what we are looking for (clean, modern, big, etc.) but I see that it is no longer open. Is there something similar in Bogotá or Medellín that is still open? Advice on what times are best to go would also be welcome. We also enjoy massage while on vacation. If anyone out there would care to share some recommendations for where to get a massage in Bogotá or Medellín that would be welcome too.
