A minority of Brazil’s Supreme Court justices support the decriminalization of possession of small amounts of cannabis by adults for personal consumption, ie up to 25 grams. The case, considered to be landmark, had been postponed for years, and again in November was removed from the docket due to pressure from the conservative right ... more analysis required. Not surprisingly, one argument against legalization is that trafficking stakeholders would adapt by creating ‘ant armies’ of distributors that can avoid prosecution by adhering to the maximum possession allowed. Of course, this is but one of several points made against relaxing the law. In contrast, the legalization of cannabis products for medical use appears to be gaining a little bit of traction. I can possess in my province but I wouldn’t be caught dead attempting to bring even one small joint into Brazil.

Hahahaha ... my Momma learned me my big and little hand early. Yeah, Eastern time. Even Air Canada has been confounded by the DST reboot in Brazil this year ... they have already revised my (from) São Paulo departure time by a one-hour factor a couple of times. -

My first home rental in the area, right where I squared off ‘Catete’ in coral colour, was a big house banked up against the rock face, with a gorgeous private rock garden. One of a few gated communities of older homes in the district. I was practically in tears when the host removed the listing for personal reasons. But I became attached to Catete and the walkable surroundings. -
If an ad in the public domain, many forum members in the “other forum” will seek a “411”. Not sure where we ask in advance for impressions/experiences on Boytoy. But the general idea is to work together for safety and self-preservation. I guess here it is under Male Escort Discussion, but if you want to seek knowledge on a provider in Brazil (I am not suggesting you are), I suggest putting an alert here as readers that know guys in Brazil may not look elsewhere on the Board.

[Colombia] Uber alternatives

REPOST: The future is ambiguous, a mess, lack of clarity around which app-based ride programs are ‘persona non grata’. The taxi union, as I understand it, must pick off any single service judicially one by one. Cabify is next in line to be targeted. Tappsi, EasyTaxi, anyone’s guess. It is unclear whether the union is against all phone-based apps and wants exclusively the old school of radio-dispatched via phone ... and curb side hail. App infrastructure costs do perhaps erode earnings disproportionately. ——- In September my Airbnb host told me to just call or hail a taxi, asserting it would be cheaper to the airport ... I paid COP22,500 for the Über; the driver was in a panic about getting caught! -

The normal that you can expect is a late arrival. However early he leaves, he will likely be late for his next arrival, UNLESS it is a dealbreaker for him to be tardy, ie an indispensable daytime job. Hence, the leeway he gives himself. Social media has created a world of young hares among tortoises, not necessarily nation-specific. This may be the best way for him to be his best self navigating two disparate employment realities. Personally, I prefer a specific evening session, plush toy , specific morning session (likely alternate trick) in that order. But this is just me. I am a June baby ... the guy may be stupid enough to manipulate at this level ... the cost adds more info about judging the setup.

April Trip Suggestion - BA or SP

He and I are in the largest northern state that includes the Arctic but is not Alaska. LOL 22:00 is 03:00 ... daylight savings in Brazil was discontinued this year. But the biorhythm suggestion is good. In April the difference is down to 4 hours. -

Access A at Gloria Station to be on the side you want to walk a few steps north up to Candido Mendes and turn left (west) to get to 117. You will see the Outeiro (Hill) exit, not the option you want. -

Metro subway and Über on par re: language, on balance. For Metro if you are 65+, two phrases are helpful as you show the attendant your original photo ID in order to ride for free: Eu nasci no ano dezenove e cinquenta e cinco (or specify other earlier year); Eu tenho sessenta e cinco anos (or specify an older age). The first phrase guides their eye to my year of birth on my ID card because they are sometimes puzzled by it; the 2nd phrase to simply assert my age qualification. Works every time. You can write it on a cue card or post-it fixed to your ID. I use a plastic original Quebec government ID card and I leave my passport at accommodations but carry a xerox copy (that the Metro generally won’t accept). You may occasionally face the challenge of an Über driver texting you, where you have to copy and translate with a language app in one direction plus translate and copy/paste back. If the driver phones you: Texto por favor, eu sou inglês. -

I think because opportunistic career felons do not have as long a shelf life in a more condensed area such as Gloria, where they would be quickly labelled and ousted, that might make a difference. ———— Does anyone know if Patrick J still works at 117? I reiterate that he is a good go-to resource for visitors needing fluent English for more complex reasons ... Tom? Rob? -

Gloria is as safe as Copacabana. I prefer it especially for longer stays. It is more condensed and easier to become familiar with locals and vendors, greeting each other in passing. IMO one is more likely to strike up a conversation with a sociable resident in an eatery (many locals are “well-heeled” and bilingual if English is important to you) than with a tourist. Most locals dining at Gregora Arte Café directly across from 117 speak English. The residential buildings date mostly late 1960s and many apartments are inhabited by folks who can afford a 1+ million reais pad. I am not a sun-worshipper but I love early morning and early evening brisk walks along Praia Flamengo, many locals there getting exercise at those times. For me, the main draw for subwaying to Copacabana is Fisherman’s walk at Leme end (n/e) early morning, or the Fort (s/w) for lunch or high tea. -
