For those who like gay-themed literature associated with their travel destinations, I have read all of Sri Lankan Canadian Shyam Selvadurai's award-winning fiction set in his native country. Excellent works. Not gay-themed but Michael Ondaatje's 'fictional memoir' (a unique genre) Running in the Family is a gem. He can do no wrong. It just occurred to me that, outside of USA, Canada, and UK sourced writers the most fiction I have read by authors born abroad is that of emigrated Sri Lankans (or the more exotic sounding Ceylonese).
  2. Defeats the purpose, as I would want to EAT him long before I could BE him.
  3. Many of us retirees prefer the 'ho'-key pokey ... that's what it's all about.

Exercise caution. There is some anti-discrimination protection for those who identify as gay but homosexual acts remain illegal. Some headway is being made due to United Nations pressure, but decriminalization remains a work in progress.
  5. I watch all English-language TV with language closed caption. My hearing is good but sometimes sound recording is bad or it is like actors have a mouth full of marbles. It would be easy to miss the Gruff reference as it was just visual when younger Berryman scrolling a few seconds.
  6. But when will poppy seeds be restored to their rightful status in lemon loaf ... what was all the floss about?
  7. And later in the following decade ...
  8. Robbie is transformed to play Elizabeth I, substituting for kneecap shattering that era's answer to status threat, in Mary Stuart, with Saoirse Ronan in the lead.
  9. For brief and organized visitors, the Tomorrow Museum, Art Museum across from it, Benedictine monastery/church already mentioned and walkable to the first two, and the aquarium 2 short VLT stops further n/w can all be done in one sweep the same day.
  10. And for us older fogies in Brasil I recently discovered and successfully tested the privilege of having no disabling impairment but getting advance plane boarding irrespective of ticket class.
  11. Wasn't that the time you swerved trying to dbl-self-penetrate the BT and shift sticks?
  12. Delicious buff midsection/crotch shots and nicely manicured buffed not-nervously-chewed-down-to-the-quick nails ... mm ... but distraction fail The giveaway about this hot garoto is the signature superfeature à la Avengers or Darkest Minds: an optimally optionally retractable forefingerfucker! I love me some skilled digital penetration. A secondary superhuman trait is he milks in all the right ways, sparing you greedy added expense upon added expense.
  13. I just binged and enjoyed it. Nice to see Downton's Edith, Marchioness of Hexham, and Room With a View's George Emerson getting cameo roles. Redgrave heartbreaking, reminds me of Atonement's epilogue. I started crushing on the actor playing 6'3" Berryman when he was Harker in the Brit Dracula series. However, one howler breaking the serious tone was the extremely poor rendering of his face in the final portrait reveal of March's painting. Another howler is the Grindr/Scruff hybrid app "Gruff".
  14. Rio Times online, 3 views per day without subscription, for fairly comprehensive NightLife and Entertainment listings, has steered me towards some great low-cost or free classical music concerts. Theatro Municipal is back in full swing, check programacão, though I usually go to the box office for purchases as it is convenient and I do not yet have CPF for online.
  15. If is raining the weather tends to cripple road traffic so it may be more feasible in those conditions to take the Metro but give more time for the shuttle portion. A shuttle in rain to a nearby airport hotel from my arrival terminal mid-evening took over an hour door-to-door.
  16. Good for the meetup of 3 ... Even the leatherbarkeep knows 4 is a crowd.
  17. Sorry, I realize here that "off" may have suggested some kind of discount in my favour. What I mean, of course, is 3-5% deviation from the true bank exchange, therefore paying 3-5% more. So recently, compared to true exchange, losing 4 reais per 100. To be honest, I only looked it up this time but I generally do not bother to calculate what buying money costs me. Sex in Brasil, a major activity, is generally discounted by 60-80%.
  18. Oh, by "bargain" I mean a far better currency exchange (not exchange fee) ... about 12% better, at my dollar's peak recently, than the timeperiod bookends of my Brasil travels May '17 to Mar '18. I always use the same popular place in my home city, but it is likely not the best, I think usually about 3-5% off the true exchange, so I am not outdoing anybody. My last purchase was 4% over the ave xchng that day but bear in mind the real volatility inflates costs. It can sometimes shift a few percentage pnts in one day! I think my local is similar rates as cash withdrawal in Brasil. I always set a spending amount I can live with and usually have unspent cash to carryover to subsequent visits. All else being equal, 8% more regular screws or 0% more AAA screws going forward
  19. On my previous short visits to São Paulo in 2016 and 2017 I did not not observe much evidence of the described legendary unattainable primping primadonna Lagoa trend. Just the one dressed stud I described in another post who was surprisingly easy to bag, and if he was virginal certainly did not get any associated ratepayer premium from me. I have no good reason to doubt the more experienced attendees and I look forward to seeing this spectacle in an upcoming extended trip that will include several Lagoa visits ... I am hella curious and love a challenge that is challenging due to the prospect of increased effort and failure ... but then play up that psychic energy with a truly hot yet accessible guy. I have been buying up bargain reais for this purpose, that is, maybe have to pony up lubricating dollars for the challenging cases'n'chases. So far, nobody at Lagoa has topped ... strike that ... outshone my loose .... strike that ... impressive 117 top 10. And I would say that 80% of the strippers are no more attractive than many Rio garotos.
  20. The 2 shrine examples, actually same location, this one just up from Gloria walking towards Lapa.
  21. A few stock paintings depicting the Gloria Hill church, examples little neighborhood shrines and the like if you keep your eyes open, a few shots of Redentor, and a typical Ipanema sunset.
  22. I am doing this fast ... forgive spelling ... a few recoomendations: Hx: visitors often overlook the Republic Palace and gardens at Catete Metro. Guys go to clube 117 but overlook 'our lady of glory on the hill' church (dated 1733?) minutes away. Take the 103step staircase up rather thannthe winding road. Stairs entrance just a few buildings up from Golden Park Hotel. Church not open much other than sunday but great view from the grounds. São Bento monastery, sunday morn mass interesting and packed, sung in Portuguese. Also manynold churches in centro. Shop markets: Thurs and Sunday afternoon food markets also near Gloria Metro. culture: well capoeira of course the martial arts/dance/acrobatics ... don't know where you will find it there.
