Lagoa was a waste of time tonight
Riobard replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Kevie, my high school system in the northern boreal above the Great Lakes required we had to take, in our final year, 2 of 3: English, French, Latin. In Grade 13, I dropped English to raise my GPA for uni. To clarify, English was Literature and I sucked at it. I tend to free-associate quickly if there is no income at stake and in a setting where the concept of reputation is, frankly, overrated. I tend to struggle with the more modern idiom here and there that leaves me scratching my head. ------ A megalomanic bully uses binding paradox and is set on the win. For example, you may notice in the dynamics here that not responding makes me a loser because I will have let a douche get up my nose without rallying, when in fact this version and source of bullying is not lacking in prevalence ... if you are not blind, you can see many examples of blatant derision peppered among this guy's more neutral passages, a blend of contributions that has the effect of calling into question the actual grade of Trumpification that rests within the offender. Similarly, responding makes me a loser because I engaged with the bully and the bully asserts that means I have no life and I am a social pariah. True, reciprocal engaging tends to be generally obnoxious, meaning that I am not exempt from the responsibility of tossing similarly rude salvos. That I term deliberative isomorphism (another boring lecture) Sure, one can take a hanky and blow out the shit cloud one walked into, walking out. That may work best for many and is certainly not a tactic I absolutely discard. You know you are being catfished into the bind when nonsense is spewed forth. Like this guy makes up stuff that is simply disorienting and because there may be enough naïve people around to take fake news at face value. Not being American, I am newer to this dynamic. Perhaps you get the drift of the paradoxical bind? It is the causal agent of much interpersonal dysfunction. Essentially, a position of being damned if you do and damned if you don't. Moving on. If you decide to engage and see it through, you must seek and find counterparadox, and focus on the process rather than the win. Counterparadox is simply paradox, where unpredictable, ungovernable change occurs irrespective of what you do in the enterprise. Better yet, paradox put forward by the bully tends to split and multiply like the amoeba that sourced it. And I do not mean that totally disparagingly. That is simply universal generativity. It is just that bullying is primitive ... I think we agree on that. In this example, I recognize basic intelligence and respect some reasonably well-played serves. Sometimes, not always, I think: Touché. On recent occasions, the serves progressively degenerate into playground base name-calling and plagiarized cartoons, gifs? Whatever, you want to call them. Since patterns tend to be repetitive, I acquired a better sense of this eventuality. The outcome tends to be better when I up the ante in the opposite direction. I think that the opening bitchslap has been consistently, though perhaps subtly, presented by the other party. I do not, however, proclaim to be perfect. The point is it is not important how I express or whether you grasp it all or you need a thesaurus. Think of it as a public display of nonviolent disaffection. I am not so much writing for the collective at these times, but I do somewhat hope that some of my response represents empathy for the bullying endured by other members, sometimes dealt by the same unclassy hand. What is important to me is the realization that some bullying simply galvanizes my energy. The paradox (remember finding the one that might fit the bully's paradoxical bind?) that has worked so far is that dissecting what I perceive to be nonsensical material and turning it on its head, no matter how unhinged I myself appear in the enterprise, while it can be mildly time-consuming, recharges my batteries and gets it across the finish line. It also helps that less intelligent less manipulative less committed bullies here enable a bit of practice at anti-bullying calisthenics. Nobody need take a personal side other than anti-bullying, as you very eloquently expressed in your own way. Other than that, some forebearance is required in terms of how we individually handle the subject. Frankly, I would feel more comfortable if others got into the ring more rather than feebly 'tap out'. But I expect that there is a host of excellent reasons for that kind of pacifism and that is my problem to handle. Final paradox before we call it a day: Riobard can be bullied yet unbullied. So can you. Peace out. -

Reversion to mediocrity complete. And ... scene. Take # [yawn] The Emperor's New TapOut Gear. That's a wrap. -
These are not my favourite shots, but the server here is glitchy about uploading ...

At the risk of being verbose, I can confirm that you can get laid doing the 11 - Fox shuffle in either direction. This level of detail should be spare enough to ensure a reasonable grade of troll-proofing for a dirty old 'mo sex tourist like me. To be clear, no particularly bad situation that cannot be easily dealt with has landed my way here in Salvador. There is, granted, cause and effect. The net effect for me is that my current best but limited advice is the stock Ask-an-Expert or see for yourself all landscape aspects at your beck and call by visiting. I have not logged into Grindr for some time because the volume of acompanhantes is far greater and unambiguous on the ad sites. My final day will be capitalizing on once more having the lodgings space to myself.

Shit, shave, shower, skip douche, deal with Douche. Dodge Douche. Lock and load. Repeat. A few minutes here and there. Sudoku on the fly. The laid back vibe here has zombified millions living so very meaningfully on their devices, they are the real deal, while a few stolen 'i' minutes has you relegate me to the ranks of social outcast. So much time wasted at Lagoa. On you. Vacay in ruins! You are like peeling back an onion. Now taking cheap shots at trade-seeking. And discounting the value of anonymous-level interaction within our forum mission agenda. Why assign any of it to an arbitrary hierarchy of value? That is correct, fellow readers, connection here is not real, trade is a sham, this guy decides who taking time out on one's keyboard is legit, and standing up to the bossy and disingenuous among us will yield you a second-rate personality assessment. If you dare to participate in a board for that component of life broadly stigmatized, and stand up to bullying, you are a big fugly Loser. And Gawd knows, nobody sees through this joker, do they? Is there no straw you will not grasp at, SS? The only thing I find depressogenic in life is people like you. Pill? You are one. Perhaps you are so grandiose that you believe you have an omniscient grasp of my itinerario and activities. "Shaking my head" is a spot on response. Exactly. Can you believe this guy? Shaking off troll dust is an inconvenience, to be sure. Like I suggested, fora contain all types. It is a trade off. -

Yet here you reside, resident ditch troll, tweeting trumpumphantly, glued obsessively to every word written by those you view disdainfully, mockingly, a persisent shadowing annoyance nipping at the heels, unable to be swatted away, digging for errors and contradictions, taking valuable time out from the life you purport to have grabbed by the balls, the dude every forum has that delusionally fancies himself a mercurial Tybalt while channelling an agitated, prosecutorial Faerie Nurse Snitchly Quickly (apologies to The Bard for stretching analogy). My sense is that you have inverted the running direction in your snotty bitchy story to suit your worldview. Wot ... You came across somebody you didn't like? Quelle shock!! I can smell obnoxious a mile away though the poor chap in question perhaps had olfactory deficiency. -

But more importantly, please give generously to help find a cure for broken records that laugh at their own jokes, exposing themselves to the elements in a futile attempt to keep their poll of who is weird on life support. Because apart from that being sadly peculiar, erm, the stupid, it burns, inn't? -
After a bumpy start on arrival at GRU, whereupon following 20 hours door-to-door travel I foolishly left my passport/visa at final customs x-ray (a first for me), circled back in the Über, and the Goddess Yemanjá saw fit to have them back in my possession 45 minutes later, I eventually got into Pinheiros. Bless you, Alessandra, at Immigration/Customs T3. This made me realize in future to put phone number in there. BTW, Über can be a crapshoot in terms of whether the driver is comfortable with Door H Arrivals vs Departures. Be prepared to text within the app and be familiar with the elevator location. I had a few enjoyable days located N/W green line. Säo Paulo is touched on more extensively in a Lagoa thread, as well as my September trip. Moved on to Salvador, nice 2-hour LATAM flight. The sights are well documented in the public domain, travel guides, etc. I am a block from Praia Barra in an amazingly quiet little penthouse lodgings. Pleasant oceanside walks. I have been grazing from an order of delicious shrimp moqueca and sides that could feed a family. A steak dinner at Sauna Fox was also very decent and really economical. Great local amenities including a new SelfFit. So far, I find it eminently possible to get down with hires no less appealing than what I consider the cream of Rio. I am satisfied with the idea of not necessarily returning because this is my second visit I deem a success and I prefer to focus on other destinations. Though the visa lift and Canada now conveniently adding more departure cities may make it difficult to resist.

Sorry, guys, I could perhaps be adding better material about experiences in Bahia if not distracted. I think you might agree it is best to ghost this thread for good and sign off for the time being. -

What I meant was that the collective does not appreciate ongoing disputes between posters. The SP example, if I recall correctly, was a very singular and isolated example of normative interplay among a few members that I thought was working together collaboratively to knit together directions. A little heated, perhaps, but resolved. Perhaps you are an only child from a small reserved family. Perhaps one lifetime error was disproportionately costly. I don't know what your point is about name handles. These things are between member and administration. You lack respect for both sides, since you will take pot shots at anybody, ie, some members are too "portly or corpulent" to be "thrown" as a measure "trust" (Dec 2018) ... when some respected contributors have been candid about body issues and intrusive measures taken to ameliorate related health problems. I think that was the juncture that put me most on to you. Nobody is immune from from your vitriol. That is why I respond but do not take you too seriously. Finally (almost), you are not the first American Friend of Dorothy here to misrepresent Baum's characterization of the Wizard. If the parallel holds water, then I apparently present considerable threatening bombast while hoping and praying for community rescuers to appear as I desperately attempt to keep evil at bay. In contrast, I think that most forum members are quite adequate at holding their own against wannabe trolls. Lastly, I would not wish you or anyone to have any less optimal visit time, wherever in the world, than is possible. To declare that somebody is not capable of having as good an experience, compared to you, is simply: Readers, feel free to help me out with word insertion following the colon above. -

I never wrote that Clube 11 was in Nazaré. In actuality, I wrote that my late arrival lead me to head up to Nazaré/Tororo as opposed to Pituba. I stayed up there 3 years ago and again went to eat outside of Tororo following the club. You can google map restaurants and make inquiries about the sexually frustrated Canuck who waltzed in for an empanada, since you may have nothing better to do. You saw fit to correct what you perceived to be a geographic gaffe that I never committed. We all know your grasp of the city is good and your unparalleled social integration is at a level we brief visitors can never hope to reach. You like to pick a dust-up. Are you the arbiter of where we source info? What would have been douchey is if I had added that anyone who is not geo-dyslexic and understands the basic Russian doll concept would simply let it go, realizing that Tororo is in Nazaré is in Salvador is in Brazil is on Earth that revolves around ... someone ... I think you get the picture. I realize that you may now again have your hackles up and this is possibly not finished ... collective groans among the readership notwithstanding. I don't mind being corrected and I am often wrong, but nobody gets a free pass to squat and shit in my face in the interests of pointing out their superiority. -

OK, Eureka! We know probability incentivizes. Next time I am going to put up $R1000 and each of those higher-end gamblers I approve can line up and enter me (and vice versa for a greater chance at the prize) and the final name draw, with their winfall chance equal to 100% divided by number of entrants. Bingo! Perhaps even a more complex algorithm where I rate the impression they leave and factor that into the number of tickets allocated for each. For example: a 10 rating gets 10 chances .... 5 gets 5, etc. I think the competition aspect will actually raise the stakes. Can't beat them (off)? Conjoin them. -

Not a thesis, but I understand that Tororo is one of three districts subsumed within the broader neighbourhood of Nazaré. In terms of recommendations, Salvador can only retrospectively have been worth it. My saggy balls are not crystalline. DIY is my recommended approach. My flight was inexpensive and there are worthwhile sights. This is my second visit in three years. First stay Pelhourinho, now Barra. Mind you, I have the resources and time to travel. Therefore, it is not like working days where vacay is limited and disappointment would be of greater magnitude. I think there may be more of a shift to ads and apps compared to 2016. -

Thanks, good tips. I try not to get too put out because my tastes are specific and I know Rio is the more sure bet. Also, relying on locals' advice about "quality" is similar to forum advice, only it is more awkward to have a local with whom you get a little chummy steer you or introduce you to their version of Mr Right Right Now and I want to swipe Left because pineapple on pizza: eww! -

I think it was inevitable. I had a paid subscriptn but then became one of the cheapos discovering you could ration article access for free. Then I just stopped reading it. It also glossed over some of the more 'highbrow' entertainment listings. -

I think you meant 11 better Wed and Sat (2nd line)? Yeah, late start Fri (my arrival day here) influenced the choice for Nazaré/Tororo area. Decided not to transfer to Fox, by then would have arrived past 21:00 - but nevertheless startled by the calibre of the ten or so GdeP contingent. Best body a very average middle-aged fellow. Neither attendant nor a few clients seemed enthused or encouraging when I asked about Sat and the apparent uncharacteristic Sat absence of strippers mentioned in the poster ad for Sat. An attractive woman (trans? convincing in an incontrovertible way) was at Clube 11 on Fri and Fox on Sat. I have seen her in Rio at NMM, so I wonder if she had a level of local insider savvy that actually put me reasonably in the correct order of nights, for Sat anyway. In fact, Sat night was hopping with dozens of patrons at Fox and a live band. The oceanside ride in, going east, was very nice. Averted car travel in torrents so far. Electrical storm Fri/Sat midnight was explosive and put a 6-foot hairline crack in the apto ceiling. Wed at Clube 11 will be opportune geographically ... final night and up early next day. Now then ... Mon? Tues? Netflix, right? -

As we are touching a little on the broader context, I can tell you that I flew yesterday into SSA, subway'd (easy-peasy) to Lapa and Über'd to Barra apto, and then Über'd short distance at 19:45 to Clube 11. Nice enough facilities but simply horrid trade choices. My head swivelling on the Metro, street, Walmart etc, the hotness not to be found where you want it in a towel. No strippers, nor will there be tonight (Sat) or during my stay. Three years ago here, I had at least one hot programa every one of 3 consecutive nights. Shame. My money is currently getting moldy. If Fox sucks, it is going to possibly be celibacy. Interesting some of the top restaurants are nearby in the same district Pituba. I am edgy about Grindr. I may just invite a hot guy for drinks or a meal out, vet vet and more vet. I do not mind squandering cash for enhancing safety. ......... I realize I am off the post topic and will likely try to report my time here in a new heading. -

I went to Lagoa midweek twice very recently, and once to Fragata as it was within walking and I thought it possibly could not have been worse. Both dreadful and not nearly representative of what the country can and does offer in such venues. IMHO, once you have done all the sights, São Paulo is merely a connection city in terms of the brothel options. Perhaps best to structure the layover on a weekend where prospects may improve. I expect there will be some repeat commentary here about how wonderful they are. I am sure it is just fine according to specific tastes. Coming all this way, I want some good-looking built guys. I don't care if it is 300-500 reais. I don't care about the variables of which season or which night. For a city this size where you see drop-dead gorgeous hunks in public all around you? That said, I had a handful of good experiences last September, but the pickings were slim and much time was spent sitting around. Anyway, I had a nice and quiet little studio cobertura but cut it short this time. -

Thanks, Walker! That is very helpful, more flexible than I thought, and likely would have been harder to extract this info in situ. I only asked about the room quality difference because up until last visit late 2016 I had always taken a suite for the €10 but it was not as nice as in the current photo. Therefore, I thought there might be currently a better room for the bottle deal. Seems like there are the two categories: free without linens etc, and suite with amenities plus or minus bottle. This likely reflects some refurbishment. -
I get that msg frequently. I sometimes clear my Safari history to resolve these and other BT glitches. And I just use another Apple device for content that I may wish to pop up without the full URL.
