  1. So you also reported two identical muggings 5-6 months apart? It is important to track one's own stories. When calling someone out, it is sometimes customary to use a little sarcasm. And what, exactly, is the concrete advice that ihpguy provided? I glean two things: turn over your "fake watch", otherwise why wear one?; a backpack can be of interest to a pivete (which by the way in Bahia could be slang or colloquial for "buddy"). There have been ample suggestions here over the years for sensible vigilance and for mitigating the likelihood of robbery damage. Otherwise, he seems to suggest that his unique past experiences were predictive of breaking news that is repeated and imported here over the years. Methinks some hyperbole or confabulation was drawn on for effect in that regard. A single representation of a credible incident goes further than making like an amoeba en split. He is grousing about not heeding his warnings, but who exactly reported here an incident that reflected they somehow dismissed his testimonials? Generally, message board contributors have shared their own or hearsay bad experiences, put the stats in context globally, or reported being spared a mugging so far.
  2. If you visit Lisbon and read gay-themed fiction by prominent authors, try David Leavitt's latest novel set in 1940, The Two Hotel Francforts. I really enjoyed staying halfway up the Bica Elevador tram a few years ago.
  3. Always be prepared to quickly hand something of "apparent" value over to the assailant. If possible, if you have your wits about you, place it on the ground. If alone, he is not likely going to immediately leave it there and chase you. There are probably none of his felonious peers taking notes and planfully following and targetting you for next time. Don't quibble and stand on honour. The true "highway robbery" is having overpaid, by thousands of reais, the owner of these stairs for the privilege of burying one's face in the ratty dunghill scurvy sheath-cummy mattresses.
  4. T b, @ihpguy? I reviewed your previous posts from Oct 2018 on safety, they're not 3 months back, and you described an assault virtually identical to the one you just referenced from Feb 2019. After all, you mentioned your previous attempts to warn message board readers. Therefore, forgive me for being a tad incredulous. Assaults in general are believable, but did H Copa d'OR miss Dx of a concussion or something? In addition, might there be some particular aspect about you or the crimes context that make you more vulnerable to attacks?
  5. This. There may be better sources, though ...
  6. Does he do modelling for Villa Giani in Earl's Court, London?
  7. And what's with the Zola Budd assailant-fleeing playbook? Shoes, gents.
  8. The garotos likely do not hide the bulk of their cash in a pouch in their undies crotch, carry a cheap wallet with a few small bills and deactivated cards, or carry more outwardly a useless decoy phone.
  9. I have researched and updated current short-stay places. The closest to Lion's but in Lapa area is Hotel La Costa, 850 metres distance at 13 Francisco Muratori. There are others further northwest into Centro but the closest of all remains southerly, Hotel Alameda (A) directly across from Clube 117, 550 metres from Lion's, and the cheapest. The other two options remain Hotel/Suites Challon (C) a modestly steep uphill climb 350 metres west from #117 to #521, and Hotel Lovetime (L) 200 metres south of Metro Gloria, also a litle closer to Lion's than La Costa in Lapa.
  10. My 'probability of an least one' incident is catching up with me. I have spent months at a time walking alone at night from Clube 117 to various points in Gloria and Catete.
  11. Portmanteau ... I sloppily loped to Walter's Sandwich cart. I wonder if the GdeP was targetted in part by an assailant assuming earnings cash.
  12. What hill? There's no pitch from 117 to R. da Glória unless you have had too many caipirinhas.
  13. Perhaps that is why the criminal code of Mauritania, under Sharia Law, does not enforce the MSM execution penalty of death by stoning.
  14. My first visit to Paragonya was a late Spring early Friday evening. The receptionist told me to go and dine somewhere, and return next day. Good idea to make contact at peak weekend times. You may be able to negotiate with your fave trade of a busy day to meet there on a quiet weekday. The Swiss tend to have finished dinner before the Spanish have sat down.
  15. The recent hook-up of the extensive Metro Line5 Lilac to Santa Cruz, and the Line17 Gold monorail currently under construction from 5 to Congonhas, may add value to the area.
  16. Don't forget to check out the original Aussie film for comparison. Only the length of 2 episodes.
  17. À propos of the grammar and spilling, the sex police gait-keep my a-hole with condemns.
  18. Tobi? Yes. IG: clubdetobimedellin Fercho's seems to still have less public advertising, defer to the 'zap. A few factors alone perhaps explain the ambiguity. Its mandate is more defined than a bathhouse or strip club. Its popups may occur outside of designated tolerance zones or in rented facilities that may not be keen about it. And brokering/pimping and organizing prostitution and sex tourism are illegal.
  19. Your enthusiasm for, and success with, ball sports and playstation for 4 are unrivalled. All great suggestions.
  20. The figure I described is correct. It seemed ill-advised to say appropriate or acceptable even though a sexually neutral poll question within the sampling. The smaller, ie inverted proportion, the 25% that you intuit, would be applicable to the question of non-commercial sexual intimacy acceptability, not surprising given a literal and simplified interpretation of the law as it pertains to adults and adolescents (threshold age 14), not children.
  21. "How many men (non sic) in a day" is an average question here I interpret to mean a calculated per diem average on an erotically focused trip. For me, rounded down to 1.0 by any given day, rounded up to 0.5 per day by trip; rounded up to 1.0 programas per day by trip. Gluttony is my weak point.
  22. Before any reader here (excluding the majority not inclined) gets their panties all moist and starts frantically scanning Trivago for deals while flagging and starring their social media cache of adolescents, I would suggest a careful drilled-down review of how the clause of age difference may be broadly interpreted, notwithstanding the non-commercial intent of sexual interaction with a a14-17yearold. What may be determined ultimately legal case-by-case does not preclude apprehension, particularly if you fit the stereotype of adult homosexual travelling abroad. Age differential, whether for adult nationals or foreigners, pertains to position of authority, trust, potential for exploitative enticement, whether the interaction may propel the teen into eventual 'legal' prostitution, and so on. Not being the T-ball coach would be insufficient criterion for exoneration. (Male adult nationals BTW, 75% of them, consider it not inappropriate to "chat" online with children and adolescents they do not know.) Therefore, among other things, in the non-commercial context, your age; the teen's age; your capacity to exert general influence over a youth naturally considered to be vulnerable; taking images even for nondistribution; and perhaps most importantly, whether for example the relationship or arrangement developed quickly, secretly, or electronically, are important factors. Like anywhere else, Brazil prefers, in no particular order, the purity ring pact or their teens to be getting in on with peers. You are best advised to keep it to the Death in Venice playbook.
