Chelsea had its charms, but I was never interested in living there. Gay ghettos are not my thing, although I understand why many gay men are attracted to them. I have early history in this hood, it's where I stayed before my settlement here was permanent. In those days, the gay hood was Greenwich Village, which is far more charming than Chelsea. In my opinion, I always thought The Big Cup was cliché. I was taken once, and thought never again. I'm a coffee snob, and their coffee was terrible. Plus, gay posers and prancers bore me. If you enjoy sex with your coffee, maybe that works for some. The last thing I think about when I'm horny is coffee or the smell of coffee, so I see no point in crossing coffee culture with cruising behavior. I find the concept a turn-off. For me, drinking superb coffee is a pleasure ritual, and peace, quiet, and tranquility must be part of the mix. I welcome handsome men to join me, and they can be naked, but I won't tolerate noisy distractions or yapping voices that are synonymous with RuPaul's Drag Race.

I totally agree. However, in the days of oil and railroad barons, everything purchasable was much cheaper. Our society is much more narcissistic now. It seems to me, wealthy conservatives (the children and grandchildren of the barons) are more selfish, stingy, self-righteous, and self-centered. Wealthy Republican whites, in particular, DO NOT want to feed, house, or give health care to minorities. God forbid you happen to be illegal. Not one dollar of their money goes to the welfare state. If you haven't found a way to accumulate your own wealth, then fuck you. Unfortunately, that's where we're at. And some people are very good at working the system and committing fraud. The bad apples always spoil the bunch.

My days of sharing social space with David Geffen are long over. I hail from a boating culture, but the boat pictured above seems vulgar and not all that attractive. Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is must-see TV on Netflix. It is a jaw-dropping docu-series about some very wealthy, demented people. I found it incredibly sad and pathetic, but nonetheless mesmerizing. You can easily imagine that every single person who agreed to be filmed most likely voted for Trump. This show is true HORROR that actually took place. I had heard about Joe Exotic when he ran for president. Late Night hosts made ample fun of him, but I had no idea he was a gay, big-cat breeder. He was a local "star" in Oklahoma who managed to seduce two, straight meth addicts to marry him (at the same time). This is not a TV show for everyone. It is a challenge to sit through, especially if you love animals. It's like watching a 24-car pileup on a busy freeway in slow motion with heads decapitating everywhere. Plenty of shirtless, red-neck, addicted, gun-toting misfits, living and doing business - total exploitation of wild animals - and pocketing millions in cash. You learn early on that Joe Exotic is in jail. You find out at the end that others may follow. The story is riveting.

If you feel so confident in that statement (which I see as blatantly false, again) please share your "some" with me, privately if you prefer. I will be more than happy to share the truth with you. I don't expect you to be forthcoming, because I know how this game is played in the shade. Nonetheless, if you care about credibility (which I doubt you do), I am happy to respond honestly about the people I have met in person from these boards.

I've always liked Jason Bateman, and this show gives him a great opportunity to show the range of his talent. In many respects the show is brilliant, but it does have its flaws. Some of the plot devices are preposterous. And bringing in a bipolar brother and sharing any truth with him was pure fantasy run amuck. A show-runner brain fart. Laughable, extremely contrived, and annoying. But it gives Laura Linney some screen time to chew on. The best character in Season 3 is Dr. Sue Shelby, Marty and Wendy's therapist, brilliantly played by Marylouise Burke. She reminds me of Aunt Clara from Bewitched. A total award winner.

I enjoyed Greg Austin's performance as Gordon Selfridge in Mr. Selfridge, playing Jeremy Piven's son. He's all grown up now playing Travis Leach, a young Nazi killer, in Amazon's Hunters. As a Nazi, Austin is absolutely mesmerizing and terrifying, before saying one word of dialogue. The camera loves his face, and in a very deliberate and subtle manner, this boy's talent jumps off the screen with mere facial expressions. Most definitely, he's an actor to watch. He's married to a woman, so I assume he's straight, but damn what eye candy for gay men. It sure would be fun to see him play gay, a la Timothée Chalamet in a terrific project.

Another email from building management this morning. Apparently, our package delivery room is overflowing and they want it emptied asap. (My household checks for packages every three hours because I run a tight ship.) Management claims that officials have told them that COVID-19 can remain alive on the surface of cardboard for up to twenty-four hours. But that is no guarantee. Management is spraying all packages delivered, and they are trying to reduce the number of delivery people who enter the building. I have a personal contact at the N.I.H., so I plan to ask about this cardboard thing. If true, more people should know about it, since a lot more people are relying on deliveries now. I was out early this morning and I saw a handsome UPS guy delivering to another building in my hood. He had no mask on and no gloves. Not sure what these guys are thinking, and I wonder how informed they are.
