  1. The 15 real “simple” cabins don’t have sheets though. I usually go with the 25 rooms (which are I think 40 on the weekends)
  2. Have you already spent some time in Uruguay? I prefer Punta del Este to Montevideo. I guess I’m just not understanding, if you are able to retire anywhere, why you would choose Montevideo..
  3. Why are you moving to Montevideo? And why in 2020? I visited there this year and wasn’t impressed. Everything costs much more than in Brazil, and there didn’t seem to be much of a gay scene or any good saunas. The beaches are unimpressive and the water is muddy looking (it technically is a river and not the ocean)
  4. Indeed, the queens of Bar Fama are true masters of their craft. One can hardly believe the elegance, class, and charisma they exude, all the while maintaining total sobriety.
  5. Lol. She did disappear into the blackout room later in the night, perhaps taking advantage of total darkness to suck off unsuspecting guys..
  6. Let’s just say...she seemed totally out of her mind...
  7. Yes it’s a little dramatic...but some of the hustlers there have what I would call “crazy eyes.” It’s a little bit of a walk on the wild side. For some, that’s what makes it thrilling... I just think any discussion of Bar Fama should come with a strip of yellow caution tape, especially for first-timers to Brazil and those traveling alone.
  8. Cine Rex and Cine Iris...there are a cluster of them close together in Cinelandia, all very seedy. Typically are busiest during weekday afternoons.
  9. Unfortunately this is all too common at 117, especially if they think you are only in town for a few days and aren’t likely to be a long-term client. Did the garotos ask you how long you plan to stay in Rio?
  10. I can’t imagine an attractive sauna guy would be interested in 30 real tricks when they can make 4 times that at Lagoa or Fragata. The time I went I did not see a single sauna guy there...of course every night is different. Bar Fama is in an area known as crackolandia. Many of the guys are noticeably high. I did see one confrontation between a hustler and a client. The hustler was yelling something in a clients face and it looked like he might attack him. The client looked terrified. PopeFrancis is shocked that a hustler would sell himself for 30 reals, but guess what the cost of crack is in crackolandia? If you guessed 30 reals you would probably be right. I’m not saying you couldn’t have a good time there, just tread carefully..
  11. If you enjoy sordid and dirty try the theaters at Cinelandia...there are usually cheap hustlers hanging around the bathroom there
  12. Yes, indeed. Bar Fama is rough trade. Just make sure the drugged out guys who suck you off don’t have a knife to stab you after..
  13. Did they renovate the suites/cabins also? Sounds like Point might start giving 117 a run for its money..
  14. Yeah I thought Point’s lease was going to expire. Maybe they somehow renewed it? Otherwise why would they invest money to renovate it
  15. The renovations look great...is the jacuzzi upstairs also?
  16. I saw Junior posted this picture in a jacuzzi, apparently at Point 202. I knew they were doing renovations, but am surprised to see they added a jacuzzi like Lagoa has. Looks nice!
  17. I mean, nobody is *literally* building dick shrines in their back yard to worship tomcal (at least I hope not, I’m kind of curious where that picture came from). I’m pretty sure latbear4blk posts were all tongue in cheek...
  18. Dealing with garotos can actually be HARDER than it seems, especially MULTIPLE garotos at a time. There is definitely a learning CURVE involved. Someone going to Rio for the first time would NOT necessarily be able to pull off what tomcal does lol.
  19. The funny thing is I tried to tactfully warn him beforehand that marrying this guy might not be the best idea. Then I found out he was telling other acquaintances that I must be “jealous” of his relationship. No good deed goes unpunished lol! When I later saw his highly dramatic facebook posts about crying himself to sleep after his Venezuelan husband dumped him, I felt a little bad for him, but not really...
  20. Haha, Solace Soul’s suggestion is amusing because this happens a lot in reverse. As soon as 2 years passes and the foreigner gets permanent residency, the American gets coldly dumped (sometimes not even a good-bye). This happened just recently to a naive acquaintance of mine. A handsome Venezuelan “fell in love” with him, and they got married. Literally, at exactly 2 years the Venezuelan filed for divorce and won’t even respond to a single message...but he does hear from the Venezuelan’s attorney who is demanding a large monetary settlement on behalf of his client. The Venezuelan has also filed for food stamps and other government assistance, which the American is legally obligated to reimburse the government for - up to 10 years!
  21. Do unbreakable pre-nuptial agreements actually exist? There are various ways to challenge any pre-nup (i.e. the Brazilian can claim they don’t speak English well and didn’t know what they were signing, were coerced into signing, the agreement is materially unfair, etc.)
  22. Two somewhat disturbing articles: Missing Norwegian Business Executive, Last Seen in Ipanema http://riotimesonline.com/brazil-news/rio-politics/rio-police-search-for-missing-norwegian-torkil-prytz-tyvold/ Apparently there is still no sign of him... LGBTQ Student Activist Matheusa Passarelli Reportedly Executed In Rio De Janeiro https://blavity.com/lgbtq-student-activist-matheusa-passarelli-reportedly-executed-in-rio-de-janeiro
  23. One of the Lagoa garotos sent me a picture of himself competing in the Mr. Sao Paulo competition. Some of these guys have “sponsors” to help with the costs of the pageant... I believe the competitions are open to the public, and the tickets are cheap. It could be worthwhile one year to go there and possibly meet a few of the guys..
  24. Where is a good place to buy reais outside Brazil? Most banks in America give a horrible exchange rate
