Reporting on Rio saunas - January 2017
torogen replied to 12is12's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I'm not sure about "tighter" themes. But I am sure about friendliness and a welcoming attitude. I am taking my second trip to Brazil in 7 days. I previously came to these forums and asked many questions before my first trip almost exactly one year ago. I was alternately welcomed, helped, and belittled. I have a pretty thick skin, so I skipped over the few posts with a nasty attitude and welcomed the people who were willing to help me, even if my question might have been answered at some point a few years ago elsewhere in the archives of this forum. Honestly, thank you to everybody who read my questions and responded politely. Before I left for Brazil, I had been working on a report from my visits to Costa Rica, which included information that I had never seen covered in these forums. I was working on an exhaustive report, and I planned to add my own impressions of Rio. Unfortunately, I came back from Rio with a serious illness that lasted for several weeks. When I was feeling better and logged back into this site, I found multiple posts (albeit mostly from one person) complaining about people who visit this site and ask questions and then don't "contribute" in return. I had persevered through several unwelcoming/insulting responses prior to my trip. But in that just-getting-over-a-serious-illness state, and combined with the nastiness of the continued griping, I simply decided to walk away, and forget both my Brazil report and my Costa Rica report. I came back to this site out of curiosity a few weeks ago, in anticipation of my upcoming trip. I am excited to visit Brazil again. I welcome all the updates and reports of people's visits to Brazil. I hope to add my own in the future. I'm going to do my best to ignore the (still present) person who is the source of most of the negativity in this forum (although I halfway expect an attack in response to this post). I enjoy reading about other people's experiences, and planning for my own trips. I'm reading the recent reports of Rio and making my own plans at the moment. I hope to add my own notes once I return. It would be awesome to contribute in my own way and in my own time without facing the withering negativity that is all-too-often seen on this site. -
Google Flights will now notify you when a proposed trip drops in price. They also provide a guess as to future prices. I agree that the tickets to Rio are currently quite high, but Google Flights says that prices are likely to come down to around $770 for a round trip ticket that is currently priced at $1200 (one week stay in April). Gooogle.com/flights I have found that site to be fascinating. You can put in your proposed dates and then click on map view and see what it would cost to go to various places around the work on your dates. I am planning a weekend in Cuba in December.

In Badboy81's defense, I did a google image search on every image in this thread, and I did not find a single image posted anywhere on the internet.

I'm curious. You clearly took your phone or a camera to the beach. I have seen many people warn aggressively about taking NOTHING to the beach. How did you keep your phone safe? Did you get in the water? If so, where did you leave it? Maybe you had a friend with you or something?

Are there any other comparable gay clubs? I will be there in 4 days...

I'm not saying they are telling the absolute truth. I've seen businesses before that "closed for renovations" that then never reopened. But the fact that they announced it weeks in advance does give it some credence, in my view.

Their Facebook page announced several weeks ago that they would be closing for renovations after April 4th. https://www.facebook.com/LEBOY.OFICIAL/

Well, a VERY helpful guy messaged me with some translations/notes. Here are his responses: Cock = you can use Pau. But I bet those guys from Rio call it Piroca. Hung = pausudo (someone with a big pau), dotado (as in “gifted”, with a big dick) Gay = you can call it gay, and it’s not derogatory. “bicha” and “viado” are derogatory, but some guys like to be called that way in bed. Feminine = feminino. Masculine = masculino twink=novinho, or just twink (try a more portuguese-ish pronunciation, tho) jock=atleta (or malhado, or sarado) military=militar bear=urso (you can use “bear” as well) cub=ursinho daddy=papai (or painho, paizinho) bear chaser=caçador de ursos muscular = forte, malhado, sarado, gostoso handsome = “bonito” is a very polite way to say, and it should be use as an adjective. as in “você é muito bonito”. you can also use “gato”, “gatinho”, “lindo" cute = “gatinho”, “fofinho" slim = magro chubby=gordo (may be derogatory). try using “cheinho” to sound cute. sexy = sexy, or “gostoso" hairy = peludo hairy chest = peito peludo ass/butt = bunda cut/circumcised=circuncidado (some people may not get it, as being cut is not common in brazil) uncut/uncircumcised=incircunciso (same thing) foreskin=prepúcio asshole (the body part) = cu (be careful when using it, it makes you look dirty) smooth (as in skin) = liso, lisinho raunchy = sujo fuck = if it’s the verb “to fuck”, then “foder” or “trepar”. Use “fazer amor” to sound really sweet. if you wanna say “fuck” as in “holy fuck”, then say “caralho" suck=chupar Top=ativo Bottom=passivo versatile = versátil Cum=porra bareback = “sem capa”, “sem camisinha" dominant=dominador submissive=submisso facial (cum shot on the face) = gozar na cara condom-do they really call this "preservativo”? = preservativo is the word for any kind of birth control method. I usually call a condom by “camisinha" Do you kiss? - “curte beijar?" How big is your cock? - “quanto mede teu pau? " fuck your ass - “foder seu cu” (command) fuck my ass - “fode meu cu” (asking) suck my cock=chupa me pau (command) safe sex=sexo seguro Please use a condom - Camisinha, por favor Can I fuck you without a condom? - Curte ser fodido sem camisinha? Common Brazilian terms for sex, sexual slang, etc.

I guess how I imagined this working was to cut and paste the list into your response, but add the definitions after the phrase. Anybody who has anything to add is welcome to chime in on this, even if you only know some of the phrases -
I am interested in starting a thread to help with translation for some sexual terms. This will help me on my upcoming trip, and it should also be helpful for anybody who might be interested in the future. I know some people may disagree with some of the things I put on here, but know that some of these things I am adding for completeness, and not just because they are my own sexual preferences (although mine are definitely included!). I would love any help translating these, because apps often translate using scientific words (esperma vs. porra/sperm vs. cum). Thanks in advance to anybody who chimes in. Feel free to add any phrases I have missed that you would find helpful. A few translations I have already found, but I'm just checking to be sure, since this kind of lingo also changes from locale to locale, and they may be different in Portugal vs. Brazil, and there may be a better or more precise word than the one I have suggested, etc. Phrases: Cock Hung Gay Feminine Masculine twink=novinho jock=atleta military=militar bear=urso cub=ursinho daddy=papai bear chaser=caçador de ursos muscular handsome=bonito (?) cute slim=delgado (?) chubby=gordo sexy hairy hairy chest ass/butt cut/circumcised=circuncidado uncut/uncircumcised=incircunciso foreskin=prepúcio asshole (the body part) smooth (as in skin)=liso raunchy fuck suck=chupar Top=ativo Bottom=passivo versatile Cum=porra bareback dominant=dominador submissive=submisso facial (cum shot on the face) condom-do they really call this "preservativo"? Do you kiss? How big is your cock? fuck your ass fuck my ass suck my cock=chupar me pau (?) fuck my ass/fuck me in the ass safe sex=sexo seguro Please use a condom Can I fuck you without a condom? Will you fuck me without a condom? Will you suck my cock? Can I suck your cock? Will you suck my cock without a condom? Will you cum for me? Can I cum in your mouth? Do you spit? Can I cum in your ass? Will you swallow my cum? Do you eat ass/rim? Can I rim your ass? Do you do massage? How much to... How much extra to... how long is a program? How much for overnight? What is included? Will you do three-way/four-way (etc.) Can I make a video? Can I take photos of you? Can I take photos that show your face? Come to my hotel? Are you aggressive? I am HIV negative. HIV negative on PREP disease-free You are very sexy I like passion I want a boyfriend experience (I want you to act like my boyfriend during our time together) Fuck me hard Keep going (don't stop) Cum for me Cum in me Does it hurt? Should I stop?

That face-down, ass-up pic is awesome, and makes me very excited to get to Rio next week. Are any of the other pics of that guy? Is that taken at a sauna? Thanks for the pics, but would also love to hear some stories as well if you have any to share.

Very helpful advice. I know that in Chicago there are specific pickup locations for "ridesharing" services such as Uber, but I have been unable to find this information about GIG. I even wrote to Uber support to ask if GIG has a specific pickup area, and they responded with the unhelpful reply that they are sorry, but I am not able to schedule a pickup in advance. I know that, when you land at O'Hare, the app gives you a popup map to guide you (the pickup location is UPSTAIRS at departures, between terminals), so hopefully that will be the same at GIG. Even with specific pickup locations at O'Hare, the process is still uncertain. Twice I have had drivers themselves go to the wrong place, while I wait for them at the right place. I will definitely take Uber, and I will update this with info when I return. But if anybody has been picked up at GIG and can describe the experience/location of any designated pickup area, that would be excellent!

AWESOME answer! Thank you for being generous with your time and helping me out so much. I will get some reais at the airport probably. I also looked on google, but the only articles I found made it seem like Uber was still banned, so thank you also for that link. I'm glad the garotos don't want dollars, because I don't want to carry them. Thanks again!

I'll be arriving in Brazil in exactly two weeks, and my question is two parts: What is the best way/place to get reais? In Mexico, I have always found the cheapest is to simply withdraw from an ATM. You have to pay a fee no matter how you do it, but the fees for ATM withdrawal for pesos are about half what they would be at a Cambio/currency exchange. Another benefit is not having to bring a bunch of cash. One caveat is that the ATM at the airport is WAY more expensive than the one in town, so I always pay for the taxi with a credit card, since I don't always have pesos on hand. Is getting money from an ATM the best way to get reais? (And I guess a side question is: do the taxis take credit cards? If not, I guess I could ask the driver to stop at an ATM on the way to the apartment {and a second side question--is UBER still banned in Rio?}). The other part of my question is paying garotos. In Mexico, I had several guys tell me that they wanted to be paid in dollars, and they were actually upset when I explained that I did not bring American dollars, that I only had pesos. Not sure what the reason was, but it was something I encountered more than once. Do the guys in Brazil expect reais? Is there any reason they would want dollars? I haven't seen any reference to this on the forums, so I'm just checking on this point...

So, is Uber still banned in Rio?

So I'm still assuming MH is Manhunt? -
Lurker, Go ahead and bore the rest of us I'm happy to participate in/bear witness to your anticipation, but I'm definitely excited to hear your on-the-ground reporting. I'm excited myself for my trip, which is less than a month away now. I'll be writing my own report soon enough.

When you say MH, are you talking about Manhunt? Is it not allowed to mention other websites, or maybe just bad form? I'm just trying to understand. -
Why would it be risky? If you are concerned, take steps to prevent an infection. The degree of risk depends on what you do, so your question is basically impossible to answer without knowing what your sexual practices are. The risk of HIV infection (which I assume is what you mean when you say AIDS), is not "quite risky" at all.

Why there are so many empty seats on flights to Rio
torogen replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I had not seen that there was a possible link between Zika and Guillain-Barré syndrome in a small number of cases. That is more worrisome, but for me personally, the worry is only slight. I had already looked at that CDC article about how to protect yourself, and I had already looked into the proper insect repellent. Amazon sells many concentrations of DEET insect repellent (30, 40, 98-100% DEET) in the form of sprays, lotions, and wipes, and I had already planned to take some of those along in order to be prepared. I am not sure how many mosquitoes I will actually encounter in Rio. I was warned before I visited Costa Rica to take 100% DEET and to be prepared for swarms of mosquitoes, but in actuality, I only saw about 3 mosquitoes during the two weeks I was there, and then only when I went into the deepest jungle. So, basically, I'm saying that I will prepare for the worst and hope for the best, but I am not going into it blindly. I'm just not a person who worries about such things. -
I asked this same question on another thread that I will link to, and was told that the chart in the first post (which shows the best/recommended days and events by sauna in Rio, as well as Porto Alegre) is still pretty much accurate: http://www.boytoy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/10900-best-worst-days-for-saunas-in-rio-and-porto-alegre/?p=61803

Why there are so many empty seats on flights to Rio
torogen replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
However, Zika is so mild that many people don't even realize they got it. Only 20% of people who pick it up get sick. So it's really mainly a concern to pregnant women, or for pregnant women who might be infected in the US by someone who picked it up on a trip and brought it back. I'm not planning to change my plans, and I can't imagine that it is going to have a *huge* impact on the number of travelers.
