I'll weigh in here. Las Vegas is fun, but was closed for renovations the last time I went, so I'm not sure what it will be like now. A few doors down on the corner is Restaurante Toke, a small restaurant with a gay theme (rainbow flag flown), that happens to face all the street trade that gathers on that corner or in front of Club Las Vegas. If you grab a seat in the front (outside) the restaurant, the guys will cruise you nonstop, hoping to make some money, be invited to sit down for a beer, or be invited into the club when it opens. Bimbom was closed both times I visited, so I assume it is gone. Same for a rumored hotspot called Club Myxto...I found the place, but it was closed and looked like it had been that way for a while. There is a small park around the corner from Club Las Vegas and Toke where lots of the guys gather, because it is one of the few wifi hotspots. Lots of guys hang out in that park, offering sex, massage, blowjobs, whatever. It's on the corner of Calle O and Calle 25. I found the beach Mi Cayito and the surrounding dunes fun, but the crowd was pretty small and tame. There is a stand that is run by the government that fronts on the beach (so you are renting your umbrella and chair directly from a park ranger, basically). Although they seem to have a pretty laid-back attitude about what goes on, that is totally dependent on the people actually working that day, and the last time I visited, one of the guys was standing around glaring at everyone, so it kind of put a damper on things (along with the high winds, which were blowing the sand so hard that it actually stung). Don't go in expecting a packed party beach like Los Muertos in Puerto Vallarta or any of the beaches in Rio, and you will still have fun. There were always a few guys standing around trying to make money providing massages, or taking guys into the dunes, but I found the working guys average, so I never hired anyone there. Ask any of the boys in front of Toke/Club Las Vegas which nights to go to which clubs. If I remember, it's Club Las Vegas on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Bar Karabali on Fridays, and Proyecto Divino on Saturdays. Bar Karabali does not have a sign in front, at least nothing that says Karabali. It is on La Rampa (lower end of Calle 23, near the Malecon) between Calles N and O, and I think the name on the front is Cafe Amor (it is BEHIND something that looks like a subway entrance, on the left side...NOT down the subway entrance...I had a friend make that mistake and sit in the underground jazz club waiting for me for 45 minutes before he realized it wasn't a gay bar, lol). To be clear: at each of these clubs, there really will be guys waiting in front, hoping that you will pay their cover and maybe buy them a drink. Cuba is a nation of face-to-face interactions. I hope you have fun.

So I wasn't kidding. Two weeks in Bogota and Medellin booked. Bogota the week of their gay pride (July 1), Medellin after. Can't wait!

Multiple airlines have started doing this. They call it "basic economy" or somesuch. It is not their regular price, but their bargain basement price. You have to be careful now when purchasing tickets to make sure you don't inadvertently purchase one of those seats, thinking you are buying a regular seat. It's their way of competing with Spirit Airlines.

Rio Belo Horizonte May 18 "green eyes" trip
torogen replied to pauleiro's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
One more (off-topic) twin post: The Rosso twins, Liam and Lucca, did porn together for a few years, but didn't actually have sex with each other. They escorted in Austin, TX, for a short time, but then one of them quit, while the other continued. They are both competitive runners/marathoners in real life, and both are straight, but very friendly and polite: https://www.waybig.com/gallery/str8_to_gay/games_gone_wild_johnny_rapid_with_luca_and_liam_rosso/62483 One of them is apparently still escorting, at least as of 6 months ago, now in Dallas, and I saw someone claiming that both brothers are still available, but only work separately: http://www.masseurfinder.com/members/extremerunner.shtml -

Programa Pricing 2018 Version
torogen replied to sanddunes's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
There are definitely people on this board who get perturbed if you mention that you are attractive enough to find sex without paying. For me, I like to hear about the other side of tourism...sex clubs, cruisy theaters, parks, etc. One more data point re: garotos cumming in the saunas. It is common for guys to ASK for extra. If it's important to you that he shoot, you should definitely negotiate that up front. It may or may not be something I want, depending on the guy and what I want to do with him. I have had guys explain to me several times that they want extra because, once they shoot, they will be done for the evening and can't make more money. Part of this might be a hustle, but it's also partly true, especially depending on the age of the guy. I have found that guys who quoted me an "extra" fee for cumming earlier in the night will waive the fee later in the night, when they are winding down or just about to head home. Like all negotiations in the sauna, it's impossible to quantify exactly what is fair. I've been quoted between 0 and 100 reais extra for cum. I may have paid around $50 once or twice, just to seal the deal. My point is that prices fluctuate not only with the season, but with the time of day. -

Costa Rica report from a past trip
torogen replied to torogen's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Looking back at my emails from all those years ago, I see that I was able to make several contacts by using Manhunt, Adam4Adam, craigslist (now gone), and classified ads on this site: https://cr.skokka.com/ It basically functions like craigslist--a free online classifieds ad service. It seems relatively well-utilized. For example, there were 19 gay escort ads placed yesterday: https://cr.skokka.com/escorts-gay/san-jose/ It seems that they are asking between 12,000 and 60,000 colones ($20-100, approximately), depending on how muscular they are, what you want to do, etc. Quality/type of the guys varies widely. A few cute twinks, a few handsome muscular bodybuilder types, lots of relatively average/normal guys. Also, this website, which has a "men seeking men" section, where a lot of escorts advertise: https://san-jose.wanuncios.com/chico-busca-chico-199.html -
I had written to a couple of guys on Tuesday (five days ago) in anticipation of an upcoming trip to Costa Rica. When I went to look today, the personals section (which disappeared in the US about 6 weeks ago) has been deleted. The story is the same in Rio, London, and every location I checked. I logged into a VPN that would change my location to different locations around the world, and I was not able to access the ads from any location, so it seems that this is a true change, not just IP/country blocking. They also deleted the "therapeutic services" section from the services menu, where you could often find guys advertising for massage. I think guys will still put up ads in the services section (probably under Beauty Services or Travel/Vacation). It's incredibly disappointing that this resource has disappeared.

Costa Rica report from a past trip
torogen replied to torogen's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
FUCK! Craigslist has apparently shut down its personals sections worldwide! I wrote to this guy and a few others on Tuesday, but I just checked, and I can't find ANY personals ads anywhere now...Central/South America, Europe, anywhere. The pages are still indexed in Google, but they all link to a "nothing found here" notification now. I'm glad a made a few contacts before this happened. I also noticed that "therapeutic services" has disappeared from the menu of services offered. -
Costa Rica report from a past trip
torogen replied to torogen's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Here is some evidence of the quality of guys who are available in San Jose. This guy is currently advertising on craigslist (and these photos are posted publicly on his ad). He is asking for $100 USD for an hour. More expensive than the prices I mentioned, but then again, he is much more attractive than anyone I met on my previous trip, so I can see how he can command a higher price. I will update my report or write a new one when I have more current information. -
I have not seen much info on Costa Rica here, so I wrote up a report about a trip I took several years ago. I checked as I was writing, and most of the info still seems to be relevant (places are still in operation, etc.) Prices may have changed, of course. I have visited Costa Rica twice now, but haven’t been since summer 2012. I am excited to return next month. I found Costa Rica to be beautiful and laid back, and a lot of fun. The country’s infrastructure is very basic, with a clear division between the poor/older areas and the newer upscale areas. All of the gay attractions I visited were in the older areas. I stayed in San Jose and in Manuel Antonio and enjoyed both. San Jose The strip club Pucho’s has a very standard formula: At 10:00 PM, the strippers all come out in G-strings and dance for exactly 10 minutes. Afterward, you get 50 minutes of drag queens who are actually pretty good. At 11:00 PM, the boys return, but this time fully nude…then 50 more minutes of drag queens. At midnight, the dancers return, but this time with erections, and they dance for 10 minutes. Many clients approach the stage and sample the merchandise (sometimes even with their mouths). If at any time you decide you want a “private” with one of the dancers, you pay the bartender, and the dancer takes you behind the scenes. I did not go, but it seemed that they simply took clients into the dressing room, where other strippers and drag queens were located. Any of those strippers is available for a fee, but you may have to pay a fee to the bar if they leave before the midnight show. Pucho’s is popular among locals, but not just for the dancers. They have a restaurant and a patio and a dark room attached. This was not immediately apparent, because the door is kept closed between the two parts…you must go through what looks like a door to the outside, but is really a door into the restaurant, cut through the corner of the restaurant, and then exit again onto the patio. The dark room and patio are packed. Many types of guys. Younger, older, nondescript, handsome…truly all types of guys go there. There is a brothel in San Jose called Oasis Erotic Massage. You enter the place, and the proprietor calls all the working guys to the front, and you get to make your choice. There are different price points, and the proprietor explains in Spanish that everything is included including oral, or penetration if you go with the more expensive option (you also get a nicer room). You basically pay $25 or $40, depending on what you want, and that includes the use of a room for an hour. Despite the very explicit assurances by the guy who runs the place, the guy I went with (a handsome and friendly 19 year old from Honduras), tried to get more money from me for basic services. I wouldn’t say it was a great option, but a few of the guys were at least young/cute/fuckable. The better place I found to look for escorts was on craigslist or on the Spanish language websites that offer erotic services ads, or on Grindr (I apologize, but I can’t recall the specific website that had many ads for escorts and massage). On this next trip, I will also try Planet Romeo. I had a lot of luck simply going to bars and meeting people. Ticos are friendly and approachable, and gay tourists are enough of a novelty to garner some attention just by their presence. Late one night, after exiting Pucho’s and getting into one of the many waiting taxis, the driver asked me if I was looking for a boy, because he knew a place where lots of hustlers hang out--Parque Nacional on Av.1 and Calle 19. He said that any of them would be very happy to do anything I wanted for $20, or they would stay the whole day/night for $40. I had already arranged to meet someone at my hotel for massage and oral ($20), but I took his card and he promised he would take me there the next day. Unfortunately, with the janky cell phone service at that time, I could not reach him the next day, despite trying about 20 times. I got a message each time saying the person you are trying to reach is out of the area or unavailable. I did call a regular taxi and try to drive past the park the next evening, but the driver did not speak English, so rather than explaining what I was doing, I asked him to drive slowly past the park because I was looking for a friend. After one trip around the block, and not seeing any likely candidates, I told him to circle back and I would get out and wait for my friend, and he immediately responded with alarm, “No, no, no. Muy peligroso! (very dangerous)” This was something I encountered several times in San Jose: warnings from the locals to never walk anywhere downtown after dark. Always take a taxi. Even for a trip of one or two blocks. I didn’t spend enough time there to gauge if these warnings were overblown, because I figured it was probably better to be safe than sorry, and I took a taxi everywhere. And one final note on the taxis: three of my taxi drivers let me know very plainly that they would be willing to fuck for a little money, and I got the feeling that several others would have been open to the idea. Manuel Antonio Manuel Antonio has a reputation as a gay destination, but the reasons for that seem to be historical (there used to be a popular nude beach, but it has been shut down because a hotel was built overlooking the beach). There is a gay hotel that I enjoyed very much (Hotel Villa Roca: https://www.villaroca.com/ ), but the area has very little to offer in the way of sex tourism, at least that I could find. It is pretty much a beautiful jungle paradise, with an amazing national forest where I saw sloths, toucans, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and a beautiful but very poisonous golden eyelash viper (oropel). The tour guide I hired through the desk clerk at my hotel turned out to be a fun and friendly gay bear who came onto me, but he wasn’t really my type, so I passed, but I did enjoy his tour very much. There were two guys in the area offering massage, but it was clear that it was legit/therapeutic massage, and the desk clerk acted completely scandalized when I asked if there were any guys who offered “extra” service. He shouted at me, “NO!” and said there was no way any guys in the area would do such a thing. This despite the fact that I was hit up by a few guys on Grindr, so I knew very well that there WERE locals who were willing to provide services for a fee. Most of those guys live in the nearby town of Quepos, so expect to pay for their taxi to your location if you stay at Villa Roca or one of the resorts closer to the national park. There were multiple other clients staying at the property. They have a happy hour each evening at the pool, and that offered a chance to hang out with the other guests, who were mostly from Mexico and Costa Rica, or from other Central and South American countries. I got the vibe that the very handsome bartender would have been available for pay. One last note about Manuel Antonio/Villa Roca: After I returned to San Jose, I happened to see one of the owners of Villa Roca at a bar with an attractive, much younger guy. So, if I were to return to Manuel Antonio, I would be more likely to ask the owners of the property about the availability of rentboys, rather than the officious desk clerk. Or maybe hire someone in San Jose and take them along if you want to be sure of companionship.

Very handsome! I wish I had met him when I was there about six weeks ago

I visited Chili Peppers in March, and the locker room was as bright as day. Most of the first floor was fairly well-lit. It was easy to see people in the bar area and around the pool and hot tub. Only dark upstairs. Perhaps you went on a "blackout" night? That is something that is done at other saunas. Despite the somewhat dirty environs, it was far cleaner than other non-garoto saunas I have visited in Brazil, with the exception of Rio G Spa in Ipanema, which was very clean. I did visit Wild Thermas on a Sunday, at the recommendation of a Paulistano friend. It was mostly bear and daddy/average types, and almost all of the action took place in the (extremely crowded) dark room. I'm not a fan of dark room action, so I'll just say the place wasn't for me.

What's Rio like in May? Help needed by first timer
torogen replied to Tomasian's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I used (and recommend) Uber at all times of the day and night in Rio and Sao Paulo. Always cheaper than a regular taxi in both cities. If you don't speak Portuguese, entering your destination in the app also makes sure you avoid any confusion about where you are going. When you asked about the bracelet thing, I thought you were talking about bars, rather than saunas. In Rio, there truly are not many gay bars. The Week is fun on Saturdays (but they use a card instead of a bracelet), and I definitely recommend TV bar on Thursdays for their event called HOLE, which is a live sex show where you are invited to participate...literally anyone can touch/suck/finger the performers, who spend about 15 minutes sucking and fucking each other on stage, starting around 12:30/1:00 AM, until they cum. After the performance, the customers disappear behind the curtains that are put up for this event, and a lot of cocksucking ensues. The "bracelet thing" happens more in Sao Paulo (and maybe in straight bars in Rio...I have no interest, and thus no experience in this area). The way it works is this: you decide when you enter whether you want to simply pay the cover fee (entrada), or if you would rather do what they call "consumação", or consumption. If you want to pay the cover, they will put a bracelet on you with your individual number, and you will pay the fee when you leave (plus any additional fees if you decide during your stay that you want to buy something after all). If you want to do consumação, it is still tied to your bracelet number, but the cover fee is higher...BUT you don't have to pay it as long as you purchase/consume beverages/other items that total at least the amount of the entrance, which is often about double the price of the cover fee. It was a little difficult for me to understand the system initially, but it basically means that nobody goes in for free. At The Eagle in Sao Paulo, for instance, you may pay the equivalent of $5 USD for the entry, or $10 for the consumação fee (equivalent to about two drinks). If you do consumação, and you have two drinks, when you leave, you simply pay for the drinks you had (so, nothing additional for the cover fee...you consumed enough to cover your entry fee). If you do entrada, and you purchase nothing additional, then you simply pay the cover fee when you leave. I enjoy drinks when I'm at a bar, so I did consumação each time, and I was never disappointed in my choice. The only oddity is you really do have to decide before you enter which option you want to choose. -
The water in the "hydro suite" was cold, and barely trickled. It would have taken more than an hour to fill up the jacuzzi. Of course, they may fix that. You negotiate the time with the guy you want to take up. I took up a guy, was terribly disappointed in his performance, and went back and found another guy to take up...same room, since it was within the one hour. They were extremely gracious and changed the bed linens in between guys. I tipped.

Picking someone up at an actual bar?! So retro. I may have to try that again one day.

The bulk of these replies are not about finding escorts, but finding sex. Backpage is good (or, maybe not good, but at least on-theme) if you are looking for an escort. Not good AT ALL if you are looking to find a hookup. The thing about Backpage is that many of the ads are catfish. Photos of the same guy posted in multiple cities at the same time. Or, try searching the phone number provided, and you often find it attached to photos of many different guys, in different locations. It's often a bait-and-switch. This might be more true in larger cities. I know it to be true in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Houston. Craigslist personals was a cesspool of funny, sexy, nasty, horrifying, and/or repetitive ads from guys simply looking to fuck or suck. Or collect pics. Or play games. Or trade insults. Often frustrating, but sometimes it paid off. Backpage is not equivalent.

The yellow fever vaccine that is typically used in the US is out of stock at least until the end of this year, and the FDA has provide provisional/temporary approval for the vaccine that is normally used in Europe to be supplied in the US. But this means that it is available only in a few FDA-approved locations, and it is costly. I think I paid $160. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/news-announcements/yellow-fever-vaccine-access I had to drive approximately 40 miles to find a place that had it in stock. You can search for all of the approved providers here: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/page/search-for-stamaril-clinics

Need a suggestion about Sao Paulo.
torogen replied to likeohmygod's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I wouldn't want to stay near Lagoa, unless that was the only thing you wanted to do every day of your trip. Staying in Higienopolis or nearby Frei Caneca in the gay/shopping area seems like a good balance of safety, amenities, and gay activities. My AirBNB on my recent trip was near Frei Caneca, and I enjoyed it. But that's very close to the location you described. -
There were quite a few muscle dudes there on the one night I went, with lots of other types thrown in. It's not one-size fits all, for sure. If you are after the unattainable muscle god type, then a sauna with that type of guy offering himself for sale is definitely going to be more convenient and probably more rewarding.
