  1. All the action needed now is to voice our support. They did it. No one is counting on them for anything else.
  2. I totally enjoyed walking with the protesters yesterday. I also learned that these many weeks of lockdown have deeply affected my physical condition. Damn, I ended exhausted after 4 hours walking under the sun. What I saw was a 100% peaceful protest, with very diverse protesters. I saw very few organized groups, 80/90% of the demonstrators were small groups of friends like mine. I saw a few groups of ANTIFA. Mostly White teenagers dressed all Black and with flags clearly identifying them. They did not use the protest for any alien political agenda and peacefully participated with the rest of the crowd. There were only two moments when I saw something that may could have develop in violent crashes. In both cases, unmarked police cars would drive cutting into groups of people and causing aggressive reactions. In both cases, everyone would raise their arms and yell "No Shoot" or "Peace". Most of signs and speeches were focus first on George Floyd, and secondly in all other minority victims of police violence. In on of the demonstrations near the White House, the speaker would name the murdered victims and we all would repeat their names. The names were Black and Latino victims. When we were in the Capitol, at the very beginning of our walk, we chose to hang up with a group of demonstrators identified under the name Freedom Fighters. This was a peaceful and organized multi ethnic group, handling free water to by passers, and collecting the trash to leave the park clean after moving to the White House. When we were there, Nancy Pelosi came out from a black SUV, wearing a mask, surround by about 5 security guards with no uniforms or visible guns or communication devices. She was escorted by a TV crowd, with a reporter asking her questions. They walked a couple of circles amidst the demonstrators, with the people yelling at her with political demands (no to privatizing jails, police and judiciary reform, etc) that she ignored. Needless to say, much innocent than Trump's photo op in the church, but another photo op. We walked from Florida and NY, where I parked my car, to the Capitol, and then the White House. During all this itinerary we were continuously approached by people in biked handling cold water for free. Most of the people were wearing masks. I guess that was the one point where the event was not so diverse. The overwhelming majority of the protesters were younger than 30. I am sure the age difference (besides the fact that Racists are overrepresented in the group of dying dinosaurs) was related to COVID19. I was very concerned about it, as I wear some of the risk pre existing condition for the illness. Wearing the mask was terrible uncomfortable. It was hot and sunny, and that piece of thick fabric holding my warm breath was very challenging. I need a summer mask, I will probably use a bandana the next time. I also did my best to keep physical distancing. I would have loved mingling with the crowd in the most populated spots, but I resisted the temptation and stayed away, in the clearer areas. They are organizing a concert and a big peaceful protest this Saturday. I am planning to be there. Next time I will go later. Yesterday we started at 2. She it was 5 and they announced that the curfew beginning was moved from 7 to 11pm, I was already exhausted and thinking of giving up. I do not enjoy the heat, imagine with a piece of thick cloth on my face.
  3. This Sunday, popular organizations are calling for a massive demonstration supporting democracy. @likeohmygod, I hope you report on SP's. Bolsonaro siguió el ejemplo de Trump y llamó "terroristas" a los manifestantesi
  4. I was there today when he arrived and walked through the crowd of protesters with almost no security. Earlier on I had seen Pelosi making a photo op walking amidst protestors next to the Capitol. The protestors were probably 50 times fewer than the ones Obama crossed through, but Pelosi had 6 visible guards against the 2 I noticed following Obama.
  5. We are having a battle in the other site. I invite those who still participate over there to join and choose a side. There are more but the most important threads are these two: https://www.message-forum.net/threads/blm-is-racist.157897/ https://www.message-forum.net/threads/denouncing-usa-state-terrorism.157828/ The second one is the thread I opened mirroring this BoyToy thread. They are similar only at the beginning. I am joining the protests in a couple of hours, and I am planning on reporting on it with pics, mostly posted mostly in my Twitter. I cannot stay longer at home watching TV and quarreling in the screens.
  6. I do not think that tactical alliances necessarily compromise your principles. They are radically different to a strategic association between different political actors. Right now, there are two major goal for this protest: justice for the murderers (the 4 of them) of George Floyd, and criminal justice reform. Two goals that per se are just reformist aspirations, however in the context of systemic White Privilege, they become revolutionary. Of course I would ally with anyone who in this moment supports those goals. Whether or not they are hypocrites or unreliable allies, if they help us to obtain progressive victories that will turn into an objective improvement in the lives of millions of Americans, I will swallow my disgust and will bend my principles. My political goals (to defend inalienable Rights of innocent, powerless people) are more important that keeping my hand and conscience clean.
  7. I see no drama in disagreeing. We do not need to apologize, we do not need to agree on everything but only in the basic mutual respect and human empathy.
  8. DC's curfew starts at 7pm today. After the Donald had to hide in his super basement, the whole White House area will be closed today. I just upgraded my cable service and I am back to all the news networks. I am taking a break from Internet.
  9. There is always danger. The challenge is to find a balance between values/principles and praxis. Denouncing the hypocrisy of the many "new allies" is right now counterproductive, in my opinion.
  10. I found the whole documentary. Powerful and still 100% relevant after 6 decades.
  11. yep, and that is the media to blame. They chose to present the events this way.
  12. Still relevant. No need to update his words.
  13. ? I am not telling anyone what to do, beyond sharing mu opinion like anyone else.
  14. I would ally with anyone (in the real world) to attain a tactical goal.
  15. It is called tactical alliances. Who said anything about believing their support is sincere?
  16. I empathize, but rather than pointing fingers, let's celebrate that the Cause has become so powerful that even these motherfuckers are joining the wave. Now it is time to add, not to divide.
  17. I bought a sound bar that is arriving tomorrow or Tuesday. I am trying not to watch TV or movies until then. THIS IS TOP OF MY LIST.
  18. How Western media would cover Minneapolis if it happened in another country https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/05/29/how-western-media-would-cover-minneapolis-if-it-happened-another-country/
  19. To put a smile in this sad moment.
