Hello there. Is anyone going to spend the Hollidays in Bogotá? It is going to be my first time in the city and would love to hang out with the connoisseurs. I rented a very small, cozy and cheap 1BR in Chapinero Central.

Hello there. Is anyone spending Thanksgiving in Rio this year? I just rented an airbnb a few blocks away from Point.

Hell no. I am abstinent and have been since I returned from Argentina. I got my first shot last Sunday, and will remain abstinent until two weeks after my second shot, when the vaccine reaches maximum efficacy. At my age, and after being a mass slut for almost 4 decades, taking any risk when I am just weeks away from immunity is nonsense to me (I am sure I would be willing to take more risk without the vaccine prospect.) After my second shot, I will be celebrating my 60th birthday with an overdose of Point 202. I am planning to weeks in Rio in November.

Comparing monkeypox to HIV is indeed scare mongering.

I had the smallpox vaccine several times during my school life and military service back in Argentina. This coming Sunday, I have my appointment to get my first monkeypox vaccine shot. It was super easy to get it here in DC. I am horny and, as in DC the infection rate is high, I am abstinent. I can't wait. I can't wait either for my next trip, in November. Once fully vaccinated, I will start purchasing tickets and making reservations. I am still struggling between Rio and Medellin, but Rio is winning.

Santa Marta is in my list, but probably for when I am already staying in Bogotá or Medellín for several months. I would probably visit for a week or even just a weekend. My curiosity for Cali is evolving in the same direction. I know I just said that one should not get hooked with one destination and instead try different ones in different trips. However, Rio is just too tempting. To make its charms more irresistibly, I just learned that Rhyheim Shabazz will probably be in the city by November. If the situation does not change, everything seems to tell me that I have to spend my Thanksgiving break in Rio.

I know. Rio is calling me. And Medellin too. However, I should explore new destinations in my quest for places to live part of the year after retirement. I am meeting so many hot caleños en internet, that I am tempted to give the city a try. I have not made a decision yet.

I am starting to have doubts about going again to Medellin in November. I am getting tempted by Rio in one hand, and by Cali in the other. Surprisingly, flying to Cali is cheaper than flying to Medellin. My question for the connoisseurs of Colombia, specifically Cali, is: in what neighborhood should I look for my airbnb?

Did you not put him in ignore? And you are using the feminine as an attempt to insult? Adorable.

Nice thread. Bitching about bitching.

Perhaps this clarification is unnecessary, I am just double checking you do not have unrealistic expectations. What do you mean by "non-commercial-sex bf material"? I understand he may not be a prostitute, but I would only expect transactional sex from a hook up app contact. By transactional, I mean that you will be expected to pay all bills, and treat the man. They goal is almost always to meet a Sugar Daddy.

Colombia is a big country. The homicides took place in Medellin.

There were homicides also in hotels. When I was researching the topic back in April, I remember that fact to be one of the most shocking characteristics of thee cases. The other shocking aspect is that the killers seemed to be playing sexually until getting the victims with their defenses totally down. In these cases the police do not want to share much details for obvious reasons, but the language used would make you think that the victims were actually engaged in sexual interaction when they were attacked, immobilized, tortured, and killed.

Condoms?

I do not have time or interest on going back to research on this topic. However, I was of course very interested last April when I was visiting Medayork. Back then I had learned about 6 homicides and more than one in an hotel. I wrote the following in my traveling log: "Last evening, before I turned them off, the hook up apps were driving me crazy, out of temptation. It is amazing the number of attractive young men into older guys, without any transactions. Unfortunately, I have been studying the series of homicides of gay men in the city (6 so far, the last one about 2 weeks ago), and the modus operandi is concerning. For instance, one of the things that usually would make me feel safe is when the guys are not insistent. Well, apparently the 6 cases looked like regular hook ups, the killer/s did not harass their victims at all. The victims were all single men living alone or who met in an hotel, and they all were tortured and murdered before being robbed. I learned a Spanish word that I had never seen before: sevicia. You can look for it. Initially, the killers’ cruelty (so far there are two suspects detained, but 4 murderers are still unresolved) made the police detectives think of homophobic serial killers, but now they think they are dealing with homosexual homicides who know when the victim is in his most vulnerable moment to kill him."

I add one more: Sending unfriendly private messages out of the blue, to provoke a reaction. Actually, I am falling in his game. -

Sign of trolling: when someone has nothing to say about the topic, and starts bitching about others' long posts. -

Oh, I am not planning on becoming a regular visitor. But it is region I am curious about and a culture I want to sink in at least once in my life. Ideally, I would have a first sip in the next couple of year. If it tastes sweet, I may devote a few months to the area after retiring.

My situation has slightly changed. Starting this coming SY, I am not a classroom teacher anymore and many (not all) of my duties are tele workable. This first school year I am planning to make my regular trips to South America (we met in Brazil but I have just fallen in love with Colombia), and demonstrate to my school what a reliable distant worker I am. My last vacation in Buenos Aires already included almost 10 days of teleworking. Hopefully, I will feel comfortable in November 2023 or April 2024 (your recommendation makes me think that I should wait for that Spring Break) to ask them to add a few days before and after the break, when I would be in Bangkok, but working. I agree with the friends who say that such a long flight demands a window wider than 7 days to actually enjoy and scuba dive in my destination. If I am not able to make my staying longer, I will postpone my Asian expedition until retirement. I am aware the boys are more expensive. Plus, to be honest, the local brand of men is not my favorite. Of course I will try the boys (the two in the picture you chose are perfect for me) but my main interest is to navigate a truly alien culture. I love traveling in South America and Europe, but they feel like home. In contrast, one of the trips I remember with the most fondness is my two weeks adventure to Morocco. Back then I could not afford many escorts and gay life was very closeted, so I did not have a lot of sex. What I did enjoy was the cultural experience, as I had never been before in a world so alien to me. I think SE Asia can deliver a similar experience.
