Lucky, if you know the exact number of people in Tulsa wearing masks right now you are more than a godlike member.

No. I know you were only speaking of yourself. I also saved up a lot with fewer expenses (and we on this board know what those expenses were ! lol). But... On the opposite end of the food chain from the billionaires, people are being kicked out of nursing homes to homeless shelters to take in coronavirus patients who bring an extra $600 a day income. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/21/business/nursing-homes-evictions-discharges-coronavirus.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage The rapid income redistribution to the billionaire class has accelerated during the pandemic. And unfortunately, the circumstances of the poorest has gotten even more miserable.

American billionaires got $434 billion richer during the pandemic ""According to the report, the net worth of America’s billionaires grew 15% during the two-month period, to $3.382 trillion from $2.948 trillion. The biggest gains were at the top of the billionaire pyramid, with the richest five billionaires -- Bezos, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, and Larry Ellison -- seeing combined wealth gains of $76 billion. Elon Musk had among the largest percentage gain of billionaires during the two months, seeing his net worth jump by 48% in the two months to $36 billion. Zuckerberg was close behind, seeing his wealth surge by 46% in the two months, to $80 billion. Bezos’ wealth increased by 31% to $147 billion. Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos, who received Amazon shares in their divorce, also saw her wealth increase by a third, to $48 billion."" https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/21/american-billionaires-got-434-billion-richer-during-the-pandemic.html I doubt many working class people got richer during the pandemic, especially with 20% unemployment. If anything many had to deplete what savings they had.

The rich have gotten much much richer during coronavirus. Bezos gained $60 billion and bank deposits shot up 2 trillion: U.S. bank deposits increase by $2 trillion amid the coronavirus https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/21/banks-have-grown-by-2-trillion-in-deposits-since-coronavirus-first-hit.html?__source=androidappshare

Will it ever stop? Two teens abused by Tulsa Cops for Jaywalking
tassojunior replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
The K Pop kids on Twitter were pretty open about inflating expectations for crowds. There was almost zero overflow crowd so there was just little enthusiasm. Both sides will play this photo-op game where to cameras the crowd looks big. In fact if you look at some candid pics, camerapeople and reporters and often most of the attendees. The campaign will use the best photos and much of the media will too. -
when you have to start your campaign speech off by proving you can drink with one hand: (where did they get all the blacks?)

To be honest, I doubt many people in Tulsa ever wear masks or distance. In the meantime I just went to a carry out and leaving two young guys without masks were arguing loud on each side of the exit. I thought of asking the shop to let me exit another way but scared of a scene I just excused myself and brushed through them with just a cheap mask. As soon as I got home I stripped, showered and gargoled for ten minutes. It's getting tough out there.

don't assume Democratic areas do much better. I have swarms of smug millennials without masks on all the sidewalks around my house in DC like this NYC pic:

SCJ rules 6-3 against work discrimination
tassojunior replied to Latbear4blk's topic in The Beer Bar
Roberts seems to be more pissed at Trump's ignoring judicial requirement of proper administrative procedure (The Administrative Procedure Act) than changing on substance. (The 5th overturned Obama's expansion of DACA on the same grounds.) The ability of DACA people to work or to get parole to marry into citizenship is still doubtful reading Roberts and many are now in their 40's. A good piece this morning: https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-06-18/daca-ruling-shows-john-roberts-doesn-t-trust-donald-trump -

But it's worth searching the decision to see if there's an indication they will uphold DACA (and DAPA) as constitutional when it gets to them. -
When you're on the highway and the other choices are McDonald's, Waffle House or truck stops, Cracker Barrel seems Michelin 3-star. Rated best chain: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sf/style/2017/12/12/which-is-better-applebees-or-cracker-barrel-our-critic-ranks-americas-most-popular-chains/

But also people need to remember this case was not on the constitutionality of DACA but just on Trump's authority to unilaterally overturn it. There are other cases brought by Texas and some states challenging DACA in a court that overturned DAPA. -

Hugo Black had been in the KKK and Earl Warren was appointed as a conservative. The earth-shaking aspect of this case is Sotomyer's concurring opinion. Controversial. -
It's American "soul food/southern food". You have to like turnip greens and ham hocks and cornbread. Most meals are about $10. It's hip to put down as associated with food lower classes like. I find they have the best meatloaf, biscuits and turnip greens anywhere and my Argentine and European guests always love it's food when we're on the highway. The nearest to DC is close to BWI airport and at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge past Annapolis.

Trump Can’t Shut Down DACA, Supreme Court Rules
tassojunior replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
There's still a suit by Texas and other states to block DACA as unconstitutional in front of the same court that blocked DAPA (for parents). May not be out of the woods yet. https://www.texastribune.org/2018/05/07/texas-lawsuit-daca-dapa-ken-paxton/ -
That ad from the Republican wing of the Democratic Party lets Trump off easy and just helps him with elderly voters who he's otherwise losing but who can relate to going down stairs or steep ramps with no handrail. But the young Clintonistas can't resist the pleasure of a knife jab as revenge for the Goddess being humiliated as infirm 4 years ago even if it costs Democrats votes with the elderly. Much more concerning is the two-hand glass of water toss. It is a sign of dementia. And the reason Trump is frail standing or moving is that he's well-known to wear heel risers in his shoes to make him look taller and more slender. That's very common and it does also work for him.....as long as he's standing still. Young people don't get it.

Cracker Barrel became very pro-gay several years ago, including equal health and life insurance benefits for same-sex partners. And Chick Filet stopped donating to the anti-gay-marriage Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes last year. Personally I admire that Chick Filet loses enormous profit by closing on sundays because of their beliefs. That sunday closing is also a reason many people with families or spouses love working there. And my father made me promise to always help the Salvation Army because it was the only group to help him as a soldier plus I've seen the great work they do for people in AIDS housing in DC.

Let's take a moment and thank all those looking for a cure.

No, but pure capitalism assumes race in how much a person is worth in the market. (Spoiler: women, blacks and Latinx aren't worth as much unless you need a token).

Yes, reddit's learning curve is very steep. It's a seeming jungle of millions of reddits and sub-reddits but once you find a niche it excels. The posters can be tedious and even arrogant but the best intellects are there in most fields. Art and literature is especially good.
