Smoking Hot Santo Domingo
SolaceSoul replied to BlkSuperman's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I think what the poster you’re responding to probably meant was that the actual definition of “black” is different / less broad in the DR or Brazil than it is in the USA — therefore, many people that would be considered black in America would not necessarily identify or be identified as black in the DR or Brazil. This is due to several factors: different histories is one, the lasting legacy of the “one drop rule” in the USA is another, but also a longer period of cultural awareness and black pride, which is relatively new there, has existed in the USA. In the USA, a guy that looks like Shemar Moore, Jesse Williams or Michael Ealy or a woman like Vanessa Williams is black. In the DR or in Brazil, they act confused when you say that. -
This should’ve said “withOUT said person’s advance knowledge or permission”. I hate not being able to edit posts after a few hours.

Oh, I can tell you’re certainly not a lawyer — and definitely not in the field of intellectual property — because you’re confusing copyright with the right of privacy / right of publicity. The former is the ownership of the creation (the photograph), while the latter is the rights of the subject in the creation (the person in the photograph). Also, oddly, you keep referring to U.S. copyright law when referring to photographs of Brazilian subjects posted on an American website with international reach, possibly taken by clients from different continents. There are several territories — and thus, several laws — whose intellectual property laws could apply here, not just those of the USA. Not even mentioning the complete lack of ethics in posting someone’s photo on the internet with said person’s advance knowledge or permission (even if said person works in the sex trade), there are other legal issues in addition to right of privacy and copyright. One major liability in the USA could be the new “revenge porn@ statutes popping up in jurisdictions everywhere — making it a criminal act to share a “non-consensual image” of someone’s private parts.

You’d have NO idea which escort / garoto posted the photo. After all, it was acquired from social media and ANYONE has access to it. So, some of these posters who are so quick to post photos of working guys without their advance permission probably could use a taste of their own medicine.
-
The right of privacy laws extend beyond mere facial recognition. There are posters here who are posting photos of garotos with blurred faces but their bodies are easily recognizable (unique tattoos and physical structure).

Since it’s open season on any photos posted on social media, perhaps I should just encourage my sauna worker / garoto / escort / hustler friends to post the photos of their clients.that they found on WhatsApp / Facebook / Instagram / LinkedIn. What’s good for the goose...

It’s good to know that Manny is still doing his thing. He and Freddy are like The Welcoming Committee Of The Conde. -
Maximum you have ever paid to a sauna boy?
SolaceSoul replied to Latindude's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
50 euros was common (I won’t go as far as to use the term “standard”) at Sauna Thermas in Barcelona this past May and June. For the advertising guys and hotel / apartment visits, in or out, during that same period, I was quoted from 80 to 150 euros, depending on the person and whether it was in or out. Of course, all of this is by the hour / half-hour. As for the USA, twinky guys aren’t my type at all, but I have a friend who pays around that in a major USA city for guys built like that. Also, many guys on Grindr / Jackd / A4A in certain cities advertising openly or slyly are around that price. Not to even mention street trade / club trade, etc. But yes, so-called “top-shelfers” or A-listers (whether deemed that by actual demand or self-described) are going for double that amount PLUS. -

David Geffen’s boyfriends always walk away with very nice parting gifts for playing horizontal “The Price Is Right”. However, most posters here are probably not Geffen or oil barons, or close to it. -
Sao Paulo and Rio - November 1 to 11
SolaceSoul replied to pauleiro's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
That may be his list price, but I seriously doubt he’s getting that in Brazil — even in São Paulo. That’s WAY above high-end market rate, even for “stars”. -

If we are talking about the same Felipe originally from PA, he goes to 117. I don’t recall ever seeing him at 202, but maybe I just missed him there or wasn’t there that night. And yes, his preços (whether an hour or an overnight) aren’t really any higher than the other higher-end sauna garotos To answer the OP’s question more specifically, I’ve never encountered a price tag in Brazil for an overnight that was anywhere near that high — even for the high-end sauna boys or the ones who advertise and think they are above working at saunas. That guy seemed to be fixated on USA/Canada/Europe pricing — which doesn’t work in the Brazilian market (unless it’s computers, electronics or appliances)! -
Thank you for posting this — because unfortunately, there are many posters here as well as onlookers and lurkers who will read glowing reports of Brazil and throw caution to the wind. Also thanks for chiming in about bad client behavior. I’ve witnessed it as well over the years, and even some posts at this board have alluded to some clients reveling in treating working boys like they are beneath them. I’m not suggesting that all sauna boys are perfect angels, but I certain have seen enough to know that some clients through their own behavior are just begging for trouble.

I independently spoke to 7-8 different sauna boys and 2 sauna employees, face-to-face. Of those, 4 sauna boys and 1 employee knew of this incident, and provided me with details, most of which match up to the story. The others either knew nothing or at least would not admit it to me. Because the story was independently verified by 5 different people who knew (or knew of) both the garoto and the client, I tend to believe it happened — although some of the details may be sketchy. Perhaps your survey sample size was too small or you just spoke to some of the ones who didn’t know. As for the photo that was posted of the “suspect”, no one I spoke to believes that it was he who was involved in the killing. The poster needs to explain in detail how he knows he is a suspect or the photo needs to be removed in its entirety.

I have similar stories about unscrupulous clients — mostly traveling ones (which is why I prefer not to socialize much with unknown clients when I travel). Last week, at 117, I witnessed a tourist client cheat one garoto out of his money and time, and his only response was basically that these garotos are so poor and desperate that they should be lucky to get whatever we give them. No one deserves to be murdered, but kindness and empathy and not treating these working guys like disposable trash is always a better option.

I’m going to have to be the one to strongly advise readers, “DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.” You are not Tomcal. You cannot do what he does. It may or may not work out for you in the same manner.

The story that I’ve been getting, as it is sing fleshed out by garotos and sauna workers that I know, is that the client was an older BrazilIan man. One of the boys worked at both 202 and 117, but the client met him at 202. The other boy was a “friend” of the garoto, but it is still unclear whether he actually worked at the saunas. They all went to a hotel and he was supposedly murdered over money (either he didn’t want to pay, or didn’t pay enough for their demands). As for the boys, the description I have is that they were both “pequeno” not “forte” - meaning they were on the twinkish side, not muscular guys (yet another reason why I tend to avoid smaller guys — they tend to have tough guy / Napoleonic Complexes, but I digress). Never such a good idea to take two boys that you don’t know (even if you think you know one) to your hotel or apartment. Something similar occurred in The DR to a colleague a few years back.
-
I just reached out to a few garotos I know. A couple had heard about the incident. They think the boys may have met the client at Point 202 and then went to a hotel, but they are not yet certain. I’m trying to get more details.

What sauna did this originate from?

Not to even mention the potential harm and risk that you placed your Brazilian friends in by running off, leaving them with a pissed-off armed gunman (or two).

1. Glad you’re okay and no one was hurt. 2. I understand your adrenaline kicked in, but a phone isn’t worth your life. My insurance (with a little push back) would’ve sent me a new one overnight to Brazil. He “probably” wouldn’t have shot a white turisto in the middle of Ipanema (THOSE cases, unlike the 50,000 others, tend to make international news and the book is thrown at the brasileiro offender — and he most likely knew this), but it really is better to be safe with your life than sorry and dead. 3. Don’t display your phones on the street or in public places — especially at night. Yes, you and your group had targets on their backs. 4. “Cute and 20”? He would have made more off of you with a simple programa. 5. Did you get the license plate? If so, Id go down to the Tourist Police Station and make a huge stink. Brazil is broke and (at least currently) treats American, European and Asian tourists with money like first-class citizens. The tourist police station will escalate this with evidence like a license plate number. They don’t want the bad publicity and they desperately want the money. I’ve used the “American privilege” thing to my advantage several times, and I’m a man of color. It would work for you at least tenfold being a white guy from California!

I just answered this question in the other thread.
-
It depends on the context on how it’s said or written. It’s Brazilian slang. It could be “a ta”, which if said after something in a sentence, could mean “to you”. Or, most likely, if said alone in response to something you said, “a tá” is just short for, “ah! Tá bom!”, which is basically, “oh, it’s fine”, “Oh, OK”, or “Ah, I see”.

It’s dull. There is no activity there anymore.

No. That is NOT the Junio at 117 that I know. Mine is darker and dare I say it, has a better body and a bigger chest. He looks like Bruno Mars, if Bruno Mars has muscles. Out of respect, my policy is that I do not post face photos or easily identifying photos of garotos, especially not without their advance permission. But unless that is an unusually light photo of a garoto who looks like Bruno Mars in the face, then that’s not him.
