    Time To Move On

Have you thought about Lexington Kentucky? It has gotten some good reviews and I believe it is on the Forbes 2013 list of best places to live or retire (not sure which). Relatively low cost of living, moderate weather, university town and I am pretty sure they have a casino there. If not, Cincinnati is only an hour and a half drive away and they have a new casino there. Not sure about health care. NE Ohio does pretty well for most of your criteria, assuming you like variety of weather, and in the right areas crime isn't an issue as in other areas. The strong points are healthcare and reasonable housing. I think it is great that you have the adventurous spirit to pick up and move to new places.

    Time To Move On

RA1 raises some good questions. I suppose I would also ask about what kinds of things interest you as far as activities, hobbies, etc. I can give you first hand experience for NE Ohio as I have lived here on and off for most of my life (and I would try my best to be objective).

  4. Seriously? Interesting. Many of the boy bands have had one of the members eventually come out. Well maybe not many but at least two that I can think of....Westlife and Boyzone. Those were five member bands so statistically I guess that fits

    Gatekeeper

Space Mountain has always been one of my favorites. There may be others but it is the only one I am aware of (and certainly have ridden) that is fully enclosed in a building unto itself. The darkness and the use of lights adds a special dimension to the experience. However, riding it 8 times in one day would be a bit much, even for an avid fan like myself

    Gatekeeper

I found this tidbit that I thought was interesting (ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wooden_roller_coaster#Wooden_versus_steel) "Wooden roller coasters provide a very different ride and experience from steel roller coasters. While they are traditionally less capable than a steel coaster when it comes to inversions and elements, wooden coasters instead rely on an often rougher and more "wild" ride, as well as a more psychological approach to inducing fear. Their structures and track, which usually move anywhere from a few inches to a few feet with a passing train, give a sense of unreliability and the "threat" of collapse or disregard for safety. Of course, this assumption is purely mental, and wooden roller coaster supports and track systems are designed to sway with the force. If the track and structure are too rigid, they will break under the strain of the passing train. The swaying of the track reduces the force applied per second (see impulse), like a shock absorber. The debate rages as to which type of coaster is better: wood or steel. This is unlikely to ever be settled, however, because each category distinguishes itself from the other in a number of ways, in addition to also providing a substantially different and unique ride"

    Gatekeeper

Sorry to disappoint those that think of Ghostbusters, this thread isn't the answer to who the Keymaster is. This thread is for all the fans (fanatics) of roller coasters. This Gatekeeper is the new rollercoaster at Cedar Point. As summer begins, there are new roller coasters all over. Here is a good reference for many of them: http://theinformistnews.com/2013/05/09/new-roller-coaster-is-set-to-break-records-7-world-records/ Here is some info about the new one at Cedar Point (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GateKeeper_(roller_coaster)). Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio adds to its fat portfolio (16!) of coasters with GateKeeper, which makes its debut Saturday. The steel, wing roller coaster will suspend riders 170 feet above the Cedar Point Beach then send them hurtling through six inversions and stomach-dropping falls at close to 70 mph. GateKeeper, the new wing roller coaster at Cedar Point amusement park/resort in Sandusky, Ohio, breaks seven world records, boasting the longest track (4,164 feet), tallest drop (164 feet) and six inversions, the most of any wing coaster on the planet. It debuts May 11, 2013. I've always had a passion for roller coasters but unfortunately as I've gotten older I've forgone them for a variety of reasons. First, it started getting too rough for this aging body and I would often feel the aftereffects with stiff necks and/or sore muscles. Second, for some unknown reason I have started to get motion sickness with those rides and it is no fun losing it during or right after the ride. Finally, I think I've about had it for the huge crowds and long lines in the hot sun for a minute or two of thrills. Still, when I see these new coasters I think fondly of the many great ones I've been on over the years. I still love the wooden ones, when you can find them, but I realize there is no way they could use those in the way they can steel ones to do what they do today. So now I focus my thrill seeking with escorts. Granted, there is still some sore muscles but hardly ever any motion sickness or large crowds involved Anyway, thankfully there are YouTube videos and we can live vicariously through them to somewhat experience the ride. So for those that love roller coasters, here you go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LELYqHGOGrA
  8. I think those three lists cover a lot of outstanding shows. I've seen most but not all (maybe 3/4 of them). My personal favorite has always been the West Wing. The only others that I would proffer that might be worthy of inclusion in an extended list are The Dick Van Dyke Show and Law & Order (the original series). I might even add Taxi, Frasier and Downton Abbey for consideration. A tad early, but Bates Motel may also be worthy, time will tell. Everyone who knows me knows that I am HUGE fan of lists (especially best of and worst of lists).
  9. We better hurry up plans to colonize other planets. Otherwise, things are going to get awful nasty.

  11. By Variety – 12 hours ago French police have named actress Sharon Stone as their prime suspect in the daring heist, in which more than $1.4 million in jewels were stolen from a hotel room during the Cannes Film Festival. According to authorities, they zeroed in on the “Basic Instinct” star as their prime suspect after an IMDb search helped them realize the actress hasn’t been a movie star in almost a decade, which made her attendance at the Cannes Film Festival extremely suspicious, they noted. “Sharon Stone’s last starring role in a major theatrical release was in 2006’s ‘Basic Instinct 2,’ which should have gone to straight-to-DVD anyway,” a spokesperson for the Nice police told Hollywood & Swine. “So what possible business does Sharon Stone have attending the 2013 Cannes Film Festival other than to steal expensive jewels? No one including Ms. Stone has been able to give us a good answer.” When French detectives brought Stone in for questioning earlier today for her alleged involvement in the jewelry theft, she immediately began reciting popular lines from her infamous interrogation scene in 1992’s “Basic Instinct.” She then tried to intimidate detectives by uncrossing her legs, but officers explained to the Oscar-nommed actress that no one has wanted to see that since the ’90s. Stone reportedly told detectives she was at the festival to see her former co-star Michael Douglas’ new Liberace biopic, “Behind the Candelabra.” Detectives quickly dismissed this as an unlikely motive for traveling across the globe to France, when like most of America, Stone could have waited until the film premiered on HBO. Detectives believe what may help them prove Stone is responsible for the jewel heist is the actress’s long and notorious history of theft. Detectives have numerous sworn affidavits by co-stars from her brief guest-starring stint on “Law & Order: SVU,” where Stone is accused of trying to steal every scene she was in by overacting. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/sharon-stone-named-suspect-cannes-jewel-heist-220054091.html
  12. Until relatively recently, I always thought they were sisters. In fact they were not related at all.
  13. Interesting situation you found yourself in. The good thing is that the sighting of the surfaced sub was taken rather seriously and appropriate measures were taken.
  14. RIP....Lovely character actress. A long and productive life. http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-jean-stapleton-dies-at-90-20130601,0,2810680.story
  15. Now that is awesome. The kid has some real engineering talent. I'll beat hi to saying "I want a son just like that"
  16. I, for one, would be interested to hear about that. Submarines fascinate me.
  17. Reminds me of the following joke: Father Murphy walks into a pub and says to the first man he meets, "Do you want to go to Heaven?" The man said, "I do Father." The priest said, "Then stand over there against the wall." Then the priest asked the second man, "Do you want to got to Heaven?" "Certainly, Father," was the man's reply. "Then stand over there against the wall," said the priest. Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and said, "Do you want to go to Heaven?" O'Toole said, "No, I don't Father." The priest said, "I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to Heaven?" O'Toole said, "Oh, when I die, yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now

    WSOP What I Miss

    Strip poker perhaps?
  19. Totally in agreement with that I was just looking at some frozen veggie burgers just the other day but hesitated to get them (too many in a package for something I wasn't sure I would like). After reading the above, I am glad I didn't buy them.
  20. Finally a horoscope that is accurate, for me at least.....An Awkward Fucktard, lol
  21. I made my salmon last night following ihpguy's recipe and it turned out great....four thumbs up. All the ingredients worked very well together. My only challenge was to find passion fruit juice but after a couple stops at different places I was able to find it (Whole Foods). My one addition to the meal was a nice bottle of Chardonnay that complimented the salmon very nicely. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been to have a handsome twink to have the meal with Thanks to ihpguy for posting this, greatly appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed.

    WSOP What I Miss

Definitely a cutie and would be a total distraction for me as well. I enjoy poker and consider myself decent (as an amateur), that is when playing for just fun but as soon as money is involved I collapse. I get bluffed too easily when money is on the table.
  23. Congratulations....A long and happy life together.
  24. I'm curious as to what price you are paying? Not sure what I get is farm-raised but I do know it is from South America (Chile) and the price I have been paying is $8.99/lb. It hasn't fluctuated for some time here (NE Ohio).
  25. Sounds delicious. Just got some fresh salmon yesterday at the local shop I go to and was going to make it last night but got sidetracked. So planning to make it tonight, so maybe I will give it a try. Have you (or anyone here) ever poached salmon? I've been tempted to try that method..
