I was glued to CNN on Saturday and was amazed at the survival rate. My heart goes out to those who were injured and to those who lost their lives. I heard a survivor being interviewed yesterday and apparently he was in business/first class on that plane, which had sleeper seats from what he said. He also indicated that those seats on the plane had a shoulder seat belt in addition to the lap belt (I supposed like the seat belts in our cars). He attributed that as a major reason he was not being injured (although in this case, from what I read about where most injuries occurred, being up front was also likely a factor). It got me thinking perhaps that also could be something that could reduce injury if every seat had one, even though it may not be as effective as a rear facing seat. Would passengers have an issue with those or with rear facing seating more? Personally, I don't think I would have any issue with rear facing seats. With regards to rear facing seats, here is a decent article from a few years ago that talks about it. Interesting topic and I never had considered it before so I learned something new today. http://www.airspacemag.com/need-to-know/Need-to-Know-Aft-Facing-Seats.html

Oz, you touched upon this somewhat but just to understand, in general, are prescription meds through a pharmacy also significantly cheaper there?
-
Not sure how to do it, but if someone is interested in putting up a boytoy poll asking the question about whether or not they believe Snowden did the right thing, I would be very interested to see how people feel on this topic.

It has been about 10 years or so since my last visit to Thailand and I've only been to Pattaya and Phuket, just passing through Bangkok. Both times were for vacations and I had a very enjoyable time. The info from Oz makes me think seriously about spending several months there a year during the cold winters in the midwest. Rather than going the traditional Florida snowbird route, Thailand sounds like a great place to at least give it a try. It will probably be a couple years before I start escaping for extended times during the winter but I will start seriously looking at Thailand as an option. Looking on the internet, average temperatures in Thailand from November through March seem quite comfortable for my liking.

Very very very interesting....Glad you were able to get such great care and at such a very low cost. Thailand is looking better and better to me every day

Appalling actions on behalf of the US and the European nations involved. I have to wonder who and how high up in the US government made such a request, and what were they thinking about the ramifications involved with doing this? The US is going down that slippery slope and we are becoming our own worst enemies in many regards because of how we are dealing with these things.

ROFL...never saw an error like that and hope never to as that sounds scary......All I could think of was a tattoo (tramp stamp) on someone's backside with that.

RA1 and CharliePS raise some important considerations that I share but haven't been able to come up with the right way to articulate it as well as they have. We pretty much all come to the forum with our own expectations and vulnerabilities that likely vary significantly from person to person. So there may be times when things happen where participating isn't as fulfilling to ones own needs or enjoyable, and a time may come to make a decision. This can happen when there are perceived or real personal attacks, when the general atmosphere just isn't what one feels suits them, or any of a number of other reasons. It is completely valid to say life is short and it's not worth the hassle any longer. That decision can vary from person to person and I don't think it is necessarily childish or immature to walk away or take a break to gain perspective and/or adjust expectations. In many ways, it is a mature approach to take such an approach. I can relate somewhat to the process of making a decision as I decided to take a break from the other site because I didn't like the tone/environment any longer, as it was negatively impacted by a relatively small number of people there. Some may see that as a sign of weakness or being childish, but ultimately it led me to a place that I find much more to my liking and a better return on my time to be there.

Perhaps this has been asked and answered before, but I am curious Oz, do you go in as a tourist or do you use some special visa? And is six months the max for such an entry, or are you required to exit and re-enter after so much time?

That does sound tastey/delicious...and fairly easy to make (even for me). Recently started using balsamic vinegar on some of the dishes I've prepared and have enjoyed it. I may even give this a try over the upcoming holiday weekend, perhaps with some grilled chicken. Thanks for the recipe

Pagophagia is the term for being addicted to eating ice cubes (and I assume ice chips and crushed ice as well). I remember reading somewhere that there is a high correlation between eating ice excessively and being severely anemic, so perhaps worth getting checked out if you haven't already done so for this. Just did a quick google search and here is a reference to the above: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/chewing-ice/AN01278
