You know any similar guys in Bogota?
-
Cheers guys. Think I’ll just use my Halifax Clarity card and withdraw from ATM. And maybe take some pounds to exchange over there in an emergency .
-
I’m travelling to Colombia for the first time, arriving in Bogota on 6 February. To get the most from my money, which is best: - buy pesos here in the UK, currently Post Office offering a rate of 5226.95 and John Lewis 5226.92 - use my Halifax clarity card and use ATM when I arrive? (I usually prefer to do this but wouldn't have any cash on me initially) - take GBP and exchange over in Bogota - take US dollars and buy over in Bogotá - though I don’t have any and would need to buy some $ here Probably looking at £1000 I’m wanting for my holiday. Also, any recommendations on SIM cards and easy to follow guides on where to buy? I’m wanting lots of free data for 2-3 weeks (phone, streaming, video calls etc). Also, if anybody is in town please get in touch if you fancy meeting up to explore the city or a beer. Many thanks in advance

Thanks to the guys who replied here and DM. I’m thinking of hiring a city guide for the first day or two. I’m sure I read of one online a few months ago but cannot remember where. He didn’t offer extra services… but suggested if the mood and chemistry was right it’s happen lol Does anyone know of a friendly English speaking guy in Bogotá? Comfortable with a gay guy or visiting gay clubs in the evening?

Do you know which Mercure is best for gay district - there are a few of these hotels

How much is a boy overnight?

Cheers - unfortunately sold out February and March. Must be popular! Anything on in town during this time?

Hello guys I'm visiting Bogota for the first time in February 2023. First time in Colombia and can't wait - usually I visit Rio and have met a few guys form here there. Will anyone be in town? Currently I'm staying at Hotel Vilar America which looks only a few blocks away from the gay district. Can anyone recommend another hotel / apartment / Airbnb? I'm looking for somewhere with a good location that's OK with causal day and overnight guests. Any local guides people would recommend? The first day or night a gay friendly guide would be nice to help get orientated to things. If you've experience of Bogota and happy to chat - please DM me. Mikey

And how would you get to meet them? Would they visit Tawan or would you need to go the competition? Are you able to stroll around the bb competition? Their fees - similar to the bar boys?
-
When is the best time to visit? I think I can recall people saying when bb competitions in town were on? Is this the case? When is the next professional competition on? I’d book a holiday if I could be sure of quality muscle men in the bar.

What sort of contacts?

So - I can finally visit Rio after 2 years of waiting! Literally was due to fly out on the day international flights were cancelled at the start of the pandemic. I'll be in town from 8 March if anyone is in town and fancies meeting up in day or evening. Have met a few guys on here before and as I don't speak Portuguese I always keen to meet up with others to chill with over coffee, beer or caipirinha.

Which Rio hotels do you like?
redxs replied to topjohn5's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Hi I prefer hotels to airbnb. I don't speak Portuguese, prefer the added security of a hotel, and enjoy the facilities like clean linen and room cleaning. Rio hotels seem pretty strict on not allowing anyone other than guests to go into hotel rooms. Airbnb maybe less strict. Rio hotels seem expensive for what you get - many hotels seem rundown or pretty small. I usually stay in Ibis in Copacabana - Posto 2 and 5. Prices are reasonable for a clean modern room with safe and daily cleaning. I have brought guys back - only have trouble on one occasion. Posto 5 is close to metro, walking distance to 202, a few blocks away from the beach and not far from Ipanema beach. I'm due to visit Rio in a few weeks time - have got Hotel Atlantic Copacabana booked - heard so much about their relaxed attitude to bring guys back I wanted to try it. Still in two minds though - anyone any recent experience of this place? -
Hey British guy here who has visited Rio a few times and also has asked the same questions as you! Generally though there isn't much night life of the type you're after and you'll have to seek out other stuff to do> Message me and we can chat. I'll keep an eye on this thread too to see what others have to say.

Barcelona (Thermas) 2019 latest recommendations
redxs replied to joe2001london's topic in European Men and Destinations
In Bcn this weekend until Tuesday. When is the best time to visit Thermas? What are the prices currently? Also, what bars / clubs are good for solo travellers? - anyone in town this weekend want to meet? -
Thanks for quick reply. I have two weeks leave to use up before 1 April. And already have a holiday to Spain end of March, so kinda stuck when I can take them. Suppose delaying till after carnival will be a good idea. I can remember readings the guys charge less before carnival to get spending money, or charge less after carnival to make up some money. Anyone know about this?

So am looking to book a trip from UK to Rio for early next year. Hopefully UK are removing Brazil from the red list next week (and Brazil should reciprocate). Was looking to travel 15 February to 2 March. The carnival starts 25 February - would this be a good time to go? Won’t have been to Rio for 2 years, would prefer to stay in hotel in Copacabana, and don’t speak Portuguese. I like going saunas and the bars sometimes. Like taking guys hone from sauna overnight to hotel and taking to beach next day. So think this might be too busy a time to go? Think someone wrote about carnival time in Rio - prices guys charge before, during and after carnival. Not really after the carnival experience as I’ll be a solo traveler. Any advice on when the go?

I'm heading to BCN in a few weeks time. Which hotels would you recommend - OK with being guys back? -
I've stayed in Khreschatyk City Center Hotel the first two times I visited. A nice 80s iron curtain style hotel - refurbished recently. And more lately Theatre Boutique Apart Hotel. Both located centrally and both OK with guys visiting at all hours. Met guys off Grindr and Hornet. Let me know when you visit - I'll see if I can come too and meet for a beer! The Chernobyl tour is a good day out.

Any recommendations on places to stay? OK with bringing different guys back?

ExpressVPN are these good value? I'm always scarred when I see these in case my credit card details will be stolen or they're part of a scam. Which are the trusted brands? Obrigado! -

I travel with a Google Chromecast and find that sometimes, usually larger hotel chains, it will not connect to hotel Wi-Fi. How is this different? Will it connect in large hotel chains? -
how do we watch the shows?

1 many of the guys online work in the saunas and some do not. many guys in the sauna don't work online. sauna prices are a little cheaper than online prices. sauna's are a little safer too - as guys have to show ID and will generally be personally known to saunas staff. plus, you can check guys out before meeting them. 2 I don't. don't think the lockers would allow you to use one though as key lock mechanism is inside the door. 3 I prefer Uber these days. 4 I've met up with a few guys and try and keep in touch and have made a few friends. Post your dates on here. 5 Never heard of this guy - who is he?

Whats really going on in Rio?
redxs replied to Badboy81's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I cancelled my trip last night. UK Government is today advising against all foreign travel - I think to avoid people being stranded overseas as repatriation flights may not be available. Airbnb allowed me to cancel no problem. Lufthansa I think allowed me to cancel and obtain full refund... was impossible to get through to customer services via telephone so used online portal.... keeps checking credit card to see it refunded! Have heard guys are avoiding foreigners, particularly Europeans, and everywhere is closing down. I hope it doesn't hit Brazil and its economy too bad. Hopefully we can return later in the year.
