Me too! I’m more anxious about Numazu’s update than about the possibility of spending a few days in Rio in January ... Guess I’m still bit afraid of venturing in the saunas during pandemic

Surprised to see Rio with so few people on the streets ... In São Paulo, although things have not come back in full swing, there is plenty of people on the streets and quite a few on the bars and restaurants.

Oh another amazing tale, thank you... couldn’t agree more, you never know what the universe or the sauna gods will throw your way kkkkk Having lived some years in Recife myself, I only went to the saunas there only a handful of times (compared to maybe hundreds of time at 117 / Lagoa)... but was in a sauna in Boa Viagem (thermas blue) that I saw the most handsome / hot boy I ever saw in Brazil... to bad we only shared a couple of words and he was already taken (and I never saw him again).

OMG, of all posters in this forum, Numazu you are the worst! First I have to read all your great reports and keep telling me out loud that I can’t just throw everything alway and jump to Rio in the next plane ... now when I get back here wondering about the Recife update you leave that cliffhanger! Oh have mercy on us kkkkk or don’t ! Just keep the reports coming!

Maybe his impression is because he is arriving earlier, like 4-5 pm. Mine is that the number of working boys in less comparing with old lagoa (and they seen always in a hurry to leave) and much less number comparing with rio from previous years. Maybe it’s just a false impression and I’m terrible in numbers. Fact is that new year week is not overwhelming in number of boys in SP or Rio, but I’m sure Rio will have more options going on in January . On a side note, the “top” boys seems to love the client ratio now in lagoa. Sometimes they are literally being hunted down on those stairs.

On a side note, don’t advise rich or foreign looking people walk on foot to and from any saunas in Recife (or anywhere outside the tourist zones). Uber is inexpensive and Recife has favelas inside almost all neighborhoods, including upscale Boa Viagem, which have drug selling places and are heaven for the local know “trombadinhas”, that are usually on bike and can appear “out of nowhere” to rob on knife or gun point.

Thermas Boa Vista, probably still the best sauna in Recife. It’s usually pretty well attended, but as all Saunas in Recife, the number of boys is not too great. Blue Thermas is in boa viagem, the beach neighborhood, but it’s hit or miss. Usually up to 5 boys. On two occasion saw extraordinary looking boys... a muscle model who escorted in Europe and was back to home city for a while (First boy I saw in first time at the sauna, right upon entrance, was impressed and said would look around, never to see him free again) and the other a good looking (model face) huge bodybuilder in top shape (who just entered at same time I was leaving, after receiving an emergency call from a friend). Went back on several occasion, but never saw any of the two again, and never scored a programa there - always left in a uber directly to Thermas Boa Vista . Do not be afraid to ask at the front desk how many boys are there (on one occasion there was none, and I saved entrance fee). All saunas in Recife are heavy at client-client action.

Booming with clients, that’s it. Now with its new location in Consolação, almost next door to me, it’s much easier to go there , so I’ve been there on three the nights, since the NY eve. On January 1st (Wed), 3rd (Friday) and 4th (Sat). I always arrive late... around 8 pm because of work, so that might influence my opinion. The number of clients went from 40-50 on wed to 60-70 on Saturday, with an abismal number of 5 boys on Wednesday (checked at reception) to around 20 on Saturday, most already clothed and leaving (that’s a turn off to me). Unfortunately the number of muscle boys varied from 2 to 4 (one of them been one of the most handsome Arab looking boy ever seen, but always seen in a hurry. Today it was even annnouced that lagoa will now open on Tuesdays now, at least in January (when fragata is closed I think). Please someone tell the boys on Rio there is much money to be made here in Lagoa this month .... Rsrsrs Edit. Forgot to say, these three days left with zero programas done . The one boy I somewhat liked and we had some chemistry going spotted me just after I crossed the door, and when I said was going to do a little look around, he just said “Would not do that if I was you”. He was right.

Was there last week, and the drag queen at the show on house announced it was her last show at Fragata, quickly to correct herself - last show at the current address. When I was leaving the house, I just asked the guy that was at the reception if it was true that Fragata was closing - he said : Yes, we close on Sunday 22th, but open on January 25th at a new address on Pacaembu - and pointed to the flyers saying just that and including the new adress (I just got one flyer to post here and look where the new adress is, but now have no idea what happened to it - getting old I guess) If I’m right with the dates, it closed last night.

I fear somewhat for the number of boys going there (and local clients too) ... Lagoa was previously in a very “discreet” location for those who didn’t want attention about going to a sauna. Consolação instead is a very lively neighborhood ... with bars, restaurants, nightclubs full of gay guys and young crowd ... chances of running on someone you know (especially for the boys) is much higher. The Augusta street was packed with girl brothels, and most of them closed in the last 6-7 years

Put me in the line to buy some shares of the sauna if TomCal take over the management. It would become “the Mecca” of the boys... Would be compulsory to every gay guy to go there at least once during their lifetime ...

Wow, seems so surreal to see Americans surrendering their freedom to travel anywhere like this... I know Cuba don’t held a lot of touristic appeal to the typical American but nonetheless can’t believe how a authoritarian decision is accepted by your congress.

It’s a sad situation for gay youth in Brazil. With testing/treatment universal and free in Brazil, the image reported by media (conventional and new social media influencers) that HIV-infection is no more than a nuisance for the patient (often compared to hipertension or diabetes) and the late “conservative family-oriented” political turn over we are seeing fewer public policies to protect the youth from HIV and those skyrocket in numbers. Folha de São Paulo newspaper cited a Health Minister survey that states that 1:4 (25%) of the “male who have sex with male” at 19-24 years old have HIV infection in São Paulo. These numbers are in hand with epidemiological reports that shows majority of new cases of hiv infection being gay males now in Brazil (heterossexual males where majority before, considering they outnumber gays by like 9:1). When I open Grindr here everybody says it’s on PreP, but I think that’s hard to believe... Seems to me more a lure to bareback sex. On a side note, got two Garotos at the saunas this month being very insistent in having bareback sex... I always thought that the sauna garotos were more careful about HIV/STD than the average gay dude, most of being “heterossexual” and having families. Another change perhaps ?
