  1. Some people feel more comfortable blaming a possible high fee on the fact they are foreigners and not the way they look. If you are grossly overnight or if you look like you don't take care of yourself, you gonna pay more, even if you are a Brazilian. Also if you look like a newbie you are likely taken advantage of, in Rio's case. In Sao Paulo is even worse, if you are a newbie looking for the pretty boy that caught your fancy, he won't even look at you, they only make eye contact with people they already know, for them aloofness is an art form that they practice like nobody I ever seen. An explanation about why there are models in Sao Paulo but not in Rio: SP is a model city, the Brazilian fashion industry is concentrated in Sao Paulo and also the advertising industry, about 90% of it, also happens in the city, and when they are between jobs or have some outstanding bills to pay, they do what (many) models do. That said, I use to be a big fan but was disappointed the last 2 times I was there, one was the last night before NYEve and another was like 8 months before, I don't go that often so I don't know if happened to be off nights or the glory days are gone for good. Some people on this forum seems to go more regularly, so let's hear from them.
  2. Badboy is right, I've seen him writing about the relativity of the rates many times before but some people want to believe there are set rules. The way you look might be more important than where you are from, if the boy is in high demand he will not lower the price for anybody since he is positive he will be fully booked (in Rio, Fernando is a good example for his regularity, but there are others on occasion). In Sao Paulo's Lagoa is a lot more complicated, over there foreigners and Brazilian from other states are the least desirable customers! The very rich people from the city (paulistas) are the gold standard, because the repeated business, the fringe benefits and the possibility of landing a house-boy position or daddy situation, of course I'm talking about the model types (not available in Rio). Trying to figure them out takes times (and visits) and is not attainable for 99% of users of this forum (myself included).
  3. The locals I know are unaware of the R$70,00 charges. They usually pay 100 or even more depending on the boy. As the carnival approaches and the season gets to high gear, prices go up to everybody unless the customer happens to land some left-overs.
  4. It's essential a rapport between the photographer and his subject on this line of work. If the model expect the same environment he would get in a banking job, maybe he should apply for a banking job, this profession is certainly not for everyone, wonder why most photographers of male models are gay? All photographers of girlie mags (Playboy, etc), are straight? Funnily, the latter case does not raise any eyebrows. I think that says more than it should...
  5. The type of photography we are talking about, the photographer is basically paid to sell titillation, by fashion designers and advertisers and his work is considered successfull by the intensity of subliminal arousal they provoke. Barring rape and unwanted touching everything else is fair game. The NYT article doesn't report any rape and the touching, according with the paper, stopped when the models objected. The whole thing is just is an organization sensationalizing a regular practice, to sell newspapers that ironically makes money publishing advertising with the same photography they hypocritically condemn.
  6. Models get naked for artists for many centuries, if doing it brings a life-time trauma they are in the wrong job.
  7. I think predators go for it just for the sake of sex, the photographers are looking for a moment of beauty, much appreciated by their audiences and their employers. Sometimes they get some fringe benefits, but that's the name of the game. Predators go way farther than that for an instant gratification only enjoyed by themselves.
  8. Will all due respect, I believe it goes beyond gay sex, is a relation between the artist and his muse, some flirting and often a little more should be expected for an outstanding work. If there is no rape or excessive abuse it should be fine. Models there are too sensitive should look for a banking job or something. Some seducing between artist and muse comes from the beginning of civilization, with often great results.
  9. Is about time the gay community to express solidarity towards Bruce Weber & Mario Testino, victims of a vicious campaign by the New York Times. Unlike Weinstein there was no rape involved, harassment is no reason to finish a true artist career. Where is Calvin, Tom Ford and all major designers? Modeling is not the pharmaceutical industry, a tough skin should come with the territory. Weber, Testino and others that spent their lives enhancing the male body, we are with you!

  11. They interplay the go-qos with a drag queen performance, I think starts around 9:30 with the boys fully naked one hour later, But it might change in a nightly basis, I remember in the past they also had a dreadfull karaoke night, if you intend to go because of the go-go they might have some info on the website. The guys seemed very pleased dancing naked in the crowd cause tips were pouring in, and the thing went for a good 10 to 15 minutes of debauchery, never seen that in Rio, I've seen that before at Lagoa, but never for so long.
  12. Interesting your impression that most customers were not Brazilian, I've been to saunas in Rio and I always had the same impression, Sao Paulo, where I am at the moment, is the opposite, most customers are Brazilian, is a big bussiness city, but not a gay bussiness city.
  13. That seems right, I don't remember ever seeing cabins at Lagoa, until recently they only had suites to the best of my knowledge.
  14. Is the low season because of summer when tourists prefer to go elsewhere, usually somewhere with a beach, and the locals (the ones who can) escape from the heat anywhere they can possibly go, much like Paris and other European cities in August. Suites are never free but discounted to R$15,00 on the nights of free cabins (Mondays through Thursday). On weekends they are in the R$40/50,00 range, I don't know exactly cause I had I few drinks and the bill included everything, I just remember the admission for R$65,00 cause there was a big sign on the entrance.
  15. The last Friday of the year at Sao Paulo's Lagoa, was mild disappointment, I guess is low season in the city, the admission was R$65,00 but there was signs around advertising $50,00 admission for every night of the week nights throughout the summer with free cabins on the same nights, I was not aware Lagoa had cabins despite been at the place many times for the last 10 years. Maybe is a new thing. As usual the average quality is well above what you get in Rio, but was not as outstanding as I've seen before, there was only one drop-dead gorgeous guy, like those you won't ever see in Rio in a million years, as usually is the case, pretty much unapproachable, the typical Lagoa sauna-god, I did not even try, I just don't feel comfortable with full-of-themselves types, besides he was probably charging double the rate, which he rightfully deserved, as a matter of fact the fee charged by the boys at Lagoa is probably the only useful information of this post: R$150,00 and nobody budged, I was even told by a boy no to bother haggling, of course I did, but no dice. "Sao Paulo people has more money" was one of the replies I got from my "in Rio they are asking R$100,00", which of course is true. I end up going with a guy called Tulio, nothing to write home about. Also worth of note was the 4 go-go boys dancing with full erection in the middle of the sparse crowd for a very generous amount of time, 2 of them were just astounding. Despite not being at it's peak, Lagoa is still the #1 sauna in Brazil. Hopefully the glory days will be back when the low-season is gone (end of February).

  18. There is a fee to enjoy his dick or ass or both while some people gets his same stuff for free. If he performs well maybe he deserves a reasonable tip from those he charges, but shouldn't he get presents from those agraciated with his free stuff? Love for sale is a different beast!
  19. I hope all the reverberations are successfully contained, but not for nothing, an epic journey with a fitting epic ending: an epidemic! Too much too soon!
  20. Right on the mark, cameras are absolutely everywhere incuding inside all elevators, everything is recorded. I know of a building that all residents could have the image of the inside t he e elevators just having their TVs on a certain channel. The feature was later disabled because of privacy concerns, so you get the idea.
  21. Hi, respectfully I think you kind agree with me because I mentioned "unless you know all the guys" which I think is your case, you know such and such guys will not be self-conscious of being seen fucked by others if they have a top reputation in the market and will not be a liability if they are positive the fact will not go beyond a certain circle. With unknown, ( or at least not discussed previously) guys, they might be uncomfortable with the situation (that's why I refer to a "dicey" proposition. Of course if you are certain all the guys go both ways, and all participants are aware of it, there should not be a problem in a low key orgy. P.S. would love to get a reply from a P.M. I've sent you a while ago. Thanks.
  22. There are 2 things in Brazil that are significantly cheaper than US/Europe: boys and Airbnb (not 3stars and up hotels). Boys have been extensively covered on this forum, Airbnb not so much. The period that includes New year's Eve the owners jack the price about 4 times (I have experienced and this is valid for Rio only) so holding out just a few days makes a huge difference. Every middle-income building in Brazil has a 24 hour doorman (for security reasons). Visitors not living in the building arise some caution. A young guy visiting does not necessarily raise flags but a bunch of young males visiting a group of older males is sort of a dead give away and the doorman will probably notify the admin of the building, even if owner of the apartment is away. All this still might not be a problem in a small apartment (1 or 2 rooms) and the owner has a good relationship with the doorman ( money talks). The bigger the apartment the fanciest is the building (generally) and strictly are the rules, in most cases nuclear families all over. If the gangbang gets out of hand (or if it happens at all), kiss Airbnb goodbye! About the gangbang: The ideal gangbang in Brazil: All the customers bottoms, all garotos top (supposedly), otherwise, unless you know all the boys it might be a dicey proposition. Taking all this into consideration, hopefully it will happen, let us know about it!
  23. Anyone with mileage programs on their mind should avoid Latam at all costs, this past summer they were demanding 150.000 miles for a NY/ Rio round trip, or about double of what other airlines were demanding at the time. I don't know how it is right now, but I've checked at other times and was always the highest by far. If luggage is an issue, American allows more free pounds than all others.
  24. There is a consensus on this forum that Wednesday night is a 202 night in Rio, if you are not experienced don't go against the tide! Don't be fooled by "the strip night" gimmick, every night is a strip night in Rio. Strippers and drag-queens, you just can't escape them!
  25. I started this thread as an update of a major sauna place in Rio, so the ones that are not able to be in town at the moment can have a good idea how the scene is evolving, but somehow became a thread about a guy named Ricardo, since I named him and Tomcal accurately pinpointed his physical type, somewhat became a full fledge character through assumptions of others. I believe everybody is fooling around with the idea, but maybe someone alien to the scene might think it has some resemblance to reality. Just to clarify: the same way that "I'm not the settling type", neither are the boys I fancy, and I bet Ricardo fits well into my fantasy. Hustling is a blessing. Word!
