  1. Besides the SNUFF FILM aspect, I'd take Roxie's son.
  2. I think I had a programa with him last night at 117. Or maybe it was his younger brother?
  3. In the past, a buffet of of Haagen-Dazs pints including my favorite Green Tea However, I now have a new favorite consumable after a pleasant walk on the beach
  4. Here is the Facebook page this came from: Wipeout Homophobia http://www.facebook.com/WHOF1 with the caption: "hubbie in afghanistan raising a gay pride flag."
  5. Feliz Aniversario, Amigao!
  6. I decided to buy the book only because of the press puff concerning it. I then read it. Very disturbed by the popularity of it. The part of the review I agree with(not having yet seen the movie.) TEENAGE SNUFF FILM.
  7. Sounds similar to what I have had for the past 15 years. Controlled fairly well with meds, rest and diet.
  8. Last Tuesday night at 117, a very hot first-timer from Cabo Frio wanted 150Reais for a longer programma across the street at the Alameda, 200Reais for an all-nighter. I chose the 60Reais for 40 minutes. More than enough time to be satisfied.
  9. I think most might have a better time at the Ursos Do Rio events in Catete 2/3 monthly at the Espaco Marun. Normally on Saturdays with a Sunday bathhouse bear afternoon/evening at the Sauna Carioca, nearby and on the other side of the Rua de Catete, on the Rua Barao de Guaratiba. Also on the Thursday nights at the sauna, advertised for bears, they have a promotional discounted rate of 15Reais for those under 25 or over 50.
  10. Bear scene here is not like in the US. More intergenerational/chub than levi/leather. Club Mix is right off of Praca XV across from the Bolsa de Valores Convention Center. It is quite yuppified in the afternoon, lots and lots sitting outside with beers and snacks(choppes e pestiscos) and and I have my doubts how well-attended it might be. This area stays quite crowded until at least 7PM on Fridays. The Club Mix in the past has been advertised as a stripper bar for women who want to party. Sometimes a one/week gay night. The "Orgy On The High Seas" is an all-day boat trip for 150Reais. Includes free food and drinks.
  11. After reading The Gawkers's take on the whole train wreck...I'd rather raw dog a beehive than go anywhere near the mean-spirited dyke. For some reason, Chicago has been the city where many chat shows have sprung up, taken root and flourished . Phil, Opi, Jenny, Jerry. And get this, Rosie had the whole Harpo staff to facilitate things and get her off to a good start. So WTF happened?
  12. Somebody hot to root for.
  13. I always thought his World of Men travelogues were quite educational. A quite splendid way to learn more about the geographical differences in the world.
  14. My Pinoy Love Dream.
  15. As someone who lives here, the NY Times has taken a point of view and their story is shaded in that direction. What one can actually see and what they report are not always the same. The writer neglected to mention the re-urbanization of Santa Maria and other favelas. Only casually mention the Ruben Braga elevator and the whole arts colony being started in Ipanema. Wonder why? I've only been here nine years but I have walked through a few favelas and conjuntos habitacionais. And seeing raw sewage flooding streets after a heavy rain and seeing the effects of the pollution flowing into the seas and lagoons is reason enough to be on the side of the Prefeitura here in Rio de Janeiro.
  16. Met a visiting American at a non-rent sauna tonight who is only attracted to above 65 in age. Skews that average way, way higher. Rio has a few that offer even that.
  17. Yes. It happened to me. A lie by omission is definitely a lie. I ended the very close friendship and all contact when I found out the truth.
  18. Anybody have further info on the rumors that Lucy tricked to make ends meet when she was first starting out?
  19. Interesting technique trick. However, not the real thing. But hardly a gorgeous video of Rio. The opening credits of Boss Nova by Bruno Barreto are still tops for me. Even living here, they still give me goose bumps. At the three minute mark and also towards the end, the samba school is my favorite, and this year's champion: Unidos Da Tijuca. I had a friend visiting for the past month and I needed to escort them up to the top of Corcovado for this first time since 2008. It is still an unbeatable vista with everything, except for the Zona Oeste, down below you.
  20. The dates for next year's Desfiles in the renovated Sambodromo are February 10,11 and 16! We'll leave the light on for you.
  21. Oops. bit of a goof. Going from 3,4,5 or 6 hours difference down to 2,3,4 or 5 for the continental US! Must be the heat or else(?)the cute guy from Piedade, I was drooling over on the beach at Farme yesterday.
  22. Brasil is on a different schedule than the US. Not exactly the direct opposite being on the other side of the Equator. So, for a bit, the time difference will be only 3 hours to the east coast, four for the central time zone, etc.
  23. Well, did you? Or anyone else on this board? Excuse me for trying to post something of interest than just another cut-and-paste crapola.
  24. This Tijucano is very, very happy. My idol, Paulo Barros, did it again. He lost last year to Beija-Flor who had the trifecta of Jesus, God and Roberto Carlos. Well, down here Roberto Carlos is considered a God. So really two gods and the son of one of them. Nobody could beat that combo. But this year, Unidos Da Tijuca returned to the top step. It was quite wonderful. He is genius. Enough said. Here on the TV, the results are covered live on a few stations. Big, big, big. Like A FLU-FLA football match. Lots of cheering. Salgueiro placed second.
  25. I personally try to stay away from the crowds. Me, after once or twice, I stay away myself. The Bola Preta and Boitata videos were only to show what goes on down here, besides the well-known desfiles in the Sambodromo on Sunday and Monday nights and the following early hours until around sunrise. But with over 500 official blocos and bandas as well as many informal concentrations of revelers, there really is something for everyone. Like our local costume contest on Saturday afternoon for the best costume made of toilet paper. Or our kids bloco at the local yacht club on Tuesday. I was in attendance on both Monday and Tuesday afternoons for the live music in front of the Camara on the Praca Floriano/Cinelandia. Very low key. Nice MPB and Samba. Very few people. If I remember correctly from previous years, they always have something going on this stage. That is the magic of Carnaval here. Find your favorite parts, take them as your own and leave the rest. The Eveganelicals of the Zona Sul and a nice little bloco with some a great drum corps. Think Mormons getting down. Nice sounds, straight-laced visuals. Not so great attendance. But no crowds at least. A friend here loves the Sambodromo parades. He went to the Mirins on Friday. Sunday and Monday, too. Me, I love the Quengas drag queens in Bairro de Fatima and Lapa on Ave. Mem de Sa and Rua Riachuello. Wouldn't miss it for the world. So there you go. One man's take on some of the festivities.
