  1. Last night was Saturday. I wanted to get out of the house and Meio Mundo is the closest for me. Off I went. Not a good choice. Very slow both in the number of clients and garotos de programa. Maybe 40% cleints. For sure, the most interesting guy there was the new bartender. About 5'8", lighter-skinned and with a bit of a beard and an ass I could get lost in until the return of the Messiah. Other than that...not much that interested me. Junior with his carefully arranged spit curl hanging over one side of his forehead. I swear that every time he passes a mirror he checks it and rearranges it just so. He is a very hot Mineiro, beautiful, very, very quiet, totally versatile, I have just find our times together way too automatic. He's like a chess master who has memorized the sequence of plays to every move you make. Eduardo, with the wife and two kids at home, who is such a pro. It is incredible to watch him in action as a dispassionate observer. But he is very hot and very successful and there every night, so who am I to judge. However, very interesting to watch. There is a newer Mineiro there now. Wesley. Not very skilled, Will do anything. He needs the money. He offered himself up to me last night for anything. And I mean anything. I wasn't interested but he refused to leave me alone. So I had a WTF moment and asked him how much to drink my urine. He said an additional 50Reais on top of the 50Reais he wanted for bottoming during a programa. I said thanks, but no. I got dressed, went back to the boat, called little Alvinho to meet me when the ferry arrived and had a great90minutes for 30Reais and three beers. He is getting demanding. He asked to try both a Heineken and a Stella Artois instead of just Brahma/Skol last night.
  2. I don't know about Ms. Alaina's elimination. Supposedly Scotty was always first i nthe voting. He had a very rabid group of supporters. Or so I read. I think that Skylar was off-key and was part of this second tier now being eliminated. Kind of like chiclet-teeth Paul MacDonald. A slightly-off, quirky personality only goes so far. Now what is the excuse for Taylor Hicks win?
  3. Depends on what Ryan Murphy has planned for the graduating seniors... Big jump between NYC-based NYADA and Lima-based McKinley HS. I haven't a clue what he has in mind. Puck nad Brittany will both fail and stay around for another year. But for Finn, Rachel and Kurt? Chime in people.
  4. Michael K on D-Listed is fun. And I happen to be a daily reader of CDAN. However, some others have taken over for ENTY, who is rumored to actually be the actor who played Chunk in The Goonies.
  5. Hey, I am not a cynic. Just think it has lost its sense of direction, i.e. jumped the shark, with lesser-quality scripts and especially this past week, substandard direction. According to IMDB, this past weeks's director, Michael Uppendahl, has very little experience. Just 4 episodes of Becker, 1 Weeds, ! American Horror Story(also by Ryan Murphy) and 6 Mad Men besides his first Glee. Not such a great start with Choke. Anyone else agree that he choked? Remember back some great episodes helmed by Eric Stoltz, who directed the proposal episode this year, Yes/No. YES, there was NO comparison. I've loved the show. Fun and the premise is a part of it. Same with movie musicals. Reality has nothing to do with it. If this week's episode had been the pilot, doubtful the show would have been greenlighted.
  6. My best recommendation is to explore the range of Thai salads. Lots of protein, great veggies and lighter sauces than what can frequently trip one up at Chinese restaurants.
  7. Lurker asked me to post about varied nights at the saunas. Here's the message he sent me: Hi there. I posted a question to you on my thread about my upcoming trip to Rio. I asked which sauna is best on each night of the week. I would appreciate it if you post a response so myself and others can have the input of a "local" who knows the daily schedules.. Thanks So here's what I can tell you. And keep in mind that I go to a sauna at the most, twice-weekly and sometimes not for a while. However, I have an older American staying with me in my home and he goes at least five nights/week and reports back faithfully. After all, two old queers do need something to chat about over wonderful strong coffees, poached eggs and imported european jams. Mondays Definitely Meio Muindo Tuesdays Definitely Clube 117 Fridays Both are good Saturdays 117, except if Meio Mundo is having a good show. I haven't been to Pointe 202 since sometime towards the end of 2007. It is not easy for me to get to in comparison to the other two as I live on Paqueta and take in a ferry boat that has the city boat station on the Praca XV. From there, Meio Mundo is no more than a six minute walk. 117 is maybe eight-ten minutes by bus at night going back to the Praca XV. Other nights I generally do not go. End of the month, when money gets tight as Cariocas wait for the next month's paycheck, I tend to stay away except for Mondays at MM. The suanas are not as well attended by clients who have less funds to spend. And the boys know this and don't want to have to pay the entry and transportation from usually quite a distance with less of a chance to earn funds with a programa. Also, the whole steroidal muscle guys thing are not interesting to me, and 117 has many more than MM. I have only heard of the kinds of guys at Pointe 202 from others. And I prefer not to pass on information that I cannot verify. I tend to like guys a bit older and not so "professional" so on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, I MIGHT head out to non-rent saunas. Thursdays are Sauna Carioca and are an intergenerational/bear night on the Barao de Guaratibe in Catete, directly across the street from the Delegacia = Police Station. It is a very ornate structure and kind of a landmark. and a very nice sauna in a quite-elegant colonial home. Keep in mind that the term bear here is not that same as in the US. Much more older/younger. Add in pot bellies and non-manscaped bodies. Another corner houses a large school of the prefeitura. In Ipa on Saturdays, two that are very nice in the later afternoon and evening are Sauna Leblon on the Barao da Torre near the corner with Rua Garcia d'Avila(where H Stern's headquarters are located) as well as the G Spa, in the first block in from the beach)on Teixeira de Melo. Both have a mix of younger and older, although G's skews way younger but an older guy will get paid attention there as well. Sundays is another older/younger bear night at a new sauna on Paulo Barreto, AX11.9. They are marketing to this crowd and last Sunday was just packed with lots and lots of 26-35 guys. Some older. Certain days/evenings they are marketing to younger guys with discounts. Others to couples. Interesting concept. Very nice, very new, intimate/small. Nice touch that there are about four big ice buckets filled with condoms spread throughout the place. Something I've never seen at any other sauna. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at non-rent Sauna Catete are quite festive. Can get very busy. It all depends how early. Sometimes 3PM, sometimes later. And then later on Fridays/ Saturdays are very busy. From 30-35 and up age range. Other rent saunas/com boys, I have not been. Whether the newer one in Bangu. Or the awful one, Ponto de Encontro, in Sao Goncalo. Also even one non-rent in Volta Redonda which is in another hemisphere being in the Baixada/Lower Serra. As I am permanent here and my Portuguese is fairly good, I do date a lot with regular Brasilians. Over the past four years, I've been in a few relationshiops that lasted between five months and two years. So, not quite as many sauna visits per month as some who post on this forum. Right now, there is an off-on guy from Caxias and someone here on the island who is very cute, desired by a number of guys here who ask me about him and what he does for the 30 Reais and two beers that I give him when I can't wait to see the sometime boyfriend from Caxias. The answer is he sucks and licks for an hour like a trooper and rides my dick like one of the horses that we use here to pull the 35 carriages that are used for transport. So I know that other residents visit the saunas much more than myself. Sorry I have no more infor at this time. For example, I did have a suco date at Blue Agave last Saturday in Ipa. Gorgeous professional trainer. Lots of muscles, but no much in common and to chat about except for samba schools. He claims to be one of the few professionals who get paid for their appearances. Or so he said. In any event, after we split up, I headed over to Cafeina for a very nice lunch and then had a wild time at Nova Leblon. Made for a nice day. Dating, lunching and whoring - nice way to spend a Saturday. What else - my famous last words - MENINOS MENTEM = BOYS LIE. Pronounced men-CHEM. Keep on repeating it. Make it your mantra. Because it is so true. Never believe a word they say.
  8. I have a friend who loves KL. He is on GayRomeo and has a full danced card with options for multiple non-rent dates daily, if he so chooses. He tells me that Malaysian guyss are a bit different in personality from Thai men.
  9. Oops. Forgot about the smarmy, preachy wife-beating and weepy, bad acting from Dot-Marie. Yech. Not much glee. More like GLUM.
  10. This week's episode, Choke, sucked. About the only good song was the overproduced and badly lip-synched "Not The Boy Nextdoor." Badly-acted moment with Rachel. Two bad hard rock songs by Puck. His body was rockin', but that was about it. Poor direction, bad writing. And the "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago was atrocious. Naya Rivera ain't no CZJ. Cryin' shame.
  11. Gundel wasn't so super in 2002. Surprised that NEXT didn't make the list along with ALINEA. And I have good info from someone that H2O isn't doing so well. If any foodies are thinking of going.
  12. On an ad hereon-line, a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath in Ipanema is going for 1500Reais for the the third week in June, for example. Frequently, when calling the owners, they will quote better prices if they fear having an empty unit. Never hurts to ask if reserving close to the arrival date.
  13. If one chooses to stay in Queimados, in the Baixada, near where many of the boys actually live.... and near a certain Pracinha where the circle around looking for older men, a kitchenette can be had for 150-200Reais/MONTH.
  14. Meio Mundo has been quite tedious the last ten days or so. Unfortunate. Hope it picks up for your visit.
  15. From this corner, GLEE has definitely jumped-the-shark. The songs this week were overproduced, with obvious ptich-control and bad lipsynching in parts. And of course, the two queer boys should have been kissing. Out 17/18 year-olds? I'm surprised Blaine didn't bend Kurt over Emma's desk and pound out a new Hummell figurine.
  16. By the way, now that Ryan Murphy, Bradley Beucker, Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan and especially at fault, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa have now provided us with High School Drag for the second time(remember the Victor/Victoria duet) can this show officially be pronounced as having jumped the shark?
  17. Whatever he is, transgendered, transvestite, dragocious or just misguided, can we just call him Eunuch or his self-titled, ghetto-slang "Eu'Nique"
  18. Thanks to the three of you. I'm going in on the 3PM today. Yesterday I had one of the guys here come over to ride my own horsey like we have here on the island and today..................off to Meio Mundo. Still undecided if I am going to take a Vitamin V. or settle for the usual 1-2 programas without any pharmaceutical assistance. I'll try to remember to take my phone into the cabines tonight and even share a photo or three?
  19. Your missing the current president of Vietnam, The Honourable Thieu Quan Cheuh. Oops, alomst forgot. And a past dictator of Myanmar's ruling junta, Long Duk Dong
  20. Couple small corrections for anyone looking for these places. Sao Goncalo is the second largest city in metropolitan Rio. On the other side of the bay from Rio and north of the bridge that crosses Guanabara Bay. Boite Casa Grande is in Bangu, not Bantu. Here is there website: www.casagrandenightclub.com.br As to Rodrigo and his stroy of being robbed, it is possible. I dated someone in Santa Cruz, a bit past Bangu by train. He always warned me that it wasn't safe to be near the train line in Bangu or Realengo. Nor safe to be on it later at night near those stations. Homeless favelados do sleep on the margins of the tracks there. So, depending on where you had dropped him off, and then on where he needed to walk to....possibilities do exist for theft. And by the way, a very large prison also calls Bangu home.
  21. Magic mix of steroids and HGH is a big, big help.
  22. Kenny Ortega directing Christian Bale howling "Santa Fe!" Priceless, cinematic history.
  23. Actually there were a few nights per week that were "sem toalha/sem sunga" or "no towel/no bathing suit". The house rule was that a boy could only enter the bar upstairs naked with only the little diaper that they handed out to sit on and for a bit of modesty. Some guys got inventive and would extend it around their waists and secure them with the stretchy rubber loop from the locker key. If I remember correctly, their was general dislike of this by the boys and Acyr changed the rules. It was a novelty when it first started the once weekly, but got tired when it was expanded to thrice.
  24. Monday night at Meio Mundo was incredible. As it was the first Monday of the month, many, many more clients with money to burn. And of course, the GP's knew it. I got there at about 4:15PM after finishing my business in the city earlier in the day. Had a crappy sushi lunch at a new place for me in Ipa on Barao de Torre at Farme de Amoedo. My two regular places, Benkei and Nik, are both closed on Monday's. Already there were many, many boys and at least 12 clients. By 6PM, the client's locker area was sold-out and clients were getting dressed in the hallway in the old spot that is now only used for overflow. And there were boys everywhere. The only sauna I had ever been at with more people inside was 117 on any of their anniversary parties nights. When I went back to my locker to get funds to pay for the first programma another client wanted to know if I was leaving so he could get my locker. Two friends have recently been to 202 and agreed that Pointe is crap now. Junior raised the entry to 40Reais and then quite quickly lowered it back to 35Reais. Three in total had the opinion that 117 is going downhill a bit with the straight muscle/steroid guys that it is attracting and Meio Mundo is now the place. To attract even more clients they are running a special. Second night of the week that you attend, the entry is only 1Real. Great deal. Along with inflation raising prices everywhere here, the cost for a dinner at MM is now 15Reais, from 10-12. Sheets are now 5Reais. I think the Kit might be as well. So the nicer rooms versus a free cabine at 15-20 is the way to go. For sure. Besides the fact that the guys are definitely more "approachable/accessible" than at the other two, for the moment.
  25. One Adam Sandler movie to see is Spanglish. At least in my opinion. What I cannot understand is how Dennis Dugan keeps getting directing gigs? He must not shoot much film and so brings in these turkeys under budget while getting little from the cast. Lucky for him that he has had the "fading" comedic talents of Adam Sandler until now.
