  1. The films creators have certainly cut and edited to their advantage. But it is a wake-up call. In the video, some opf the Portuguese says it is not about 20 centavos for transit. Then it flashes the costs for the World Cup and Olympics and then flashes the salario minimo which is currently at 678R$. A friend posted this to his facebook page and sent it to me. Be part of the movement if you wish. In my bit of paradise, we are totally isolated from these images and happenings. At least in Gloria and on the Praca XV yesterday, no protests were visible. I did see some photos where the protesters tossed some burning items at the base of the doors to the entry of the Palacio Tiradentes next to the Paco Imperial on the Praca XV last week. Last night nothing at that location. I think that yesterday the protesters were more organized in Sao Paulo.
  2. Definitely WTF? But that is why I am not a judge. Nor lawyer. I suppose I need a further explanation. And more than once to understand what are the salient points involved here.
  3. She totally screwed the pooch by not finishing up her speech with a plea for "world peace.' Hello, Sandy Bullock.
  4. How is Jon Voight on this show? The rumor I had read was that dementia/Alzheimer's had unhappily started.
  5. I'm not going to bother opening another thread about a dead late afternoon/early evening at 117. It was pretty bad until maybe 5:45PM. Luckily, I ran into a neighbor of mine who usually visits Meio Mundo, but the free suites were the attraction. At least I had someone to chat with until some guys of interest arrived. He must have gotten there earlier but was raving about his programa. I arrived at 4:30PM. Maybe 10 clients and 10 boys. By 5:15PM, another 6-8 clients and 10 boys. At 6:20PM, when I cut out, there were at the most 25 clients and maybe 40 or so boys. And something very unusual for that time of night - no waiting list. For a free suite Tuesday, not to be believed. Without a doubt, the increase in entry for client and boy must be having an effect. I know that we are in the off-season and last weekend was heavy with "Festa Junina" parties. But still, the costumes people wear are really cheap and beers to drink aren't so expensive and even live forro entries are cheap. We're talking a trio playing something similar to crappy US hillbilly music. Only one new one. Christian. My friend swore that he fucked him at Meio Mundo. Tall, thinner, lighter skin, very cute and completo. But he denied the encounter had ever taken place. We surmised that he didn't want the other boys to know that he had started out selling it at MM before "movin' on up, to the eastside, to the deluxe whorehouse in the sky."
  6. I dunt no nutin bowt edcashun, but I wanna indick any or all 3 Jonas Bros.
  7. Ultrapassar = Exceed A couple of weeks back Tealady asked me some questions that I then posted on a thread. Sorry that I posted the wrong information. In my failing memory banks, happens with age or maybe the tropical sun, surf, breezes, cachaca and hot men, the time limits for suites at 117 were longer than 30 minutes on Tuesdays and 40 minutes on all other days. I know for a fact, because I checked a clock and then I went up to a suite with a guy for 50 minutes. Checked the clocks downstairs when we got our room and then in the lockers as I was getting him his payment. On my bill, there was no charge for ultrapassar. Last week I made a point of asking the woman at the desk about the time limits and then spoke with Herivaldo, who I think of as Monik's manager. I asked him if the time limits were always 30 and 40, He said no. They used to be 30 minutes each day but Monik decided to give an extra 10 minutes to get cleaned up in the suite's showers after the entertainment. My failing memory remembers many times in past years when I was at that 45 and 50 minute mark. Never have been charge for ultrapassar at 117. I have on two occasions at Meio Mundo for one of the nicer rooms. Changed story on 117's side? Niceness of the part of the cashiers? As to emptiness at 117, I think that with facebook and cells, and the increase in prices for the boy's entry, client's entry, 30/40 time limits and abbreviated/rushed programas, dates are being arranged outside of the whorehouse and people are going directly to a motel for a perhaps higher fee, but not much more, to the garoto and the cost for 4-6 hours at a motel, versus the 2 entrys, lower compensation for the programa and only 30-40 minutes for pleasure/paradise/trip to heaven.
  8. My new favorite there, Thiago looks a little like the photo. Unfortunately, there is a finger in the joyhole so I''m not sure exactly how close the two resemble each other.
  9. Going back to the original post about Rio's oldest restaurant, I'd did go there. I'm not sure what PR2K consumed, but I was quite pleased. A bit of a cross of an indoors Amarelinha and a one-story Columbo without the Belle Epoque. Fine gracious service, wonderful waiters in white jackets and nice food. Being a thrifty sort for certain things, and dining alone as three different people I called where not available to join me, I chose one of the promotional plates which are available Mondays through Fridays. I think most everything else on the menu are for two. I had a very, very nice cold rare filet mignon and salad russe for 24Reails. A splurged and had well-priced "Batatas Portuguesas"or what in the US is called "Cottage Fries" cooked up individually and served right out of the fryer, for 16Reais. I think at Amarelinha on the Praca Floriano they go for22Reais now. Wonderful. FATGIRL ALERT: The neighboring table order ""Batatas Prussianas" which is something new for me to see in Rio de Janeiro. Cross-hatched cottage fries that with those delicate little spaces one can load up with even more mayonnaise or ketchup. I was non-plussed with the avoacado icecream mousse dessert. Don't waste your money for that. Go to the sucos next door and order an abacate natural. You're wallet and tummy will enjoy it just as much for 1/3 of the price.
  10. I went to the BBCC here and saw the Tarsila retrospective. TWICE. I'd prefer to gaze at the affordable art on display at 117.
  11. I forgot to mention that the state governemnthere i n RJ, after investing over 1.5 billion Reais on the Maracana in seven years are now going to lease it out for basically nothing(for 20-30 years?) to a private group consisting of Odebrecht(privately-help Brasilian engineering firm with world-wide reach,) AEG(the Phil Anschutz sports group)Eike Batista(one of Brasil's richest men with his fingers in everything - and by the way, his Thor son recently convicted of manslaughter for killing a bicyclist while driving drunk in his McLaren SLR and no prison, of course) among others.
  12. Can we spell A-L-A-R-M-I-S-T? The bus fares in Rio and Sampa went up but 20 centavos or less than a dime. And most employees here get a direct depoist into their accounts to pay for transportation to work from home. I guy I dated, and photos I posted, in 2011 got about 130Reais/months back then. I assume it has since gone up a bit. This is more a protest against government spending and theft/misappropriation of funds. Last week, I think on Thursday, there was another protest in front of the Teatro Municipal. Lots and lots of security all over downtown. Even some helicopters up in the air. Not sure if for TV News or government security efforts. But there was not much going on except right at the protest sight on Praca Floriano and along the Rua Araujo Porto Alegre which runs in front of the opera house. Not sure about last night's festivities. I've got the BBC on and have read a bit about the scattered protests. One big thing is the waste of money by Brasilia for stadiums in Cuiaba, Brasilia and Manaus that have been built for cities with no football teams to occupy them post-World Cup 2014. Just crazy stupid. Ditto the bad public healthcare system(and in my case, lousy private health care). This all reflects poorly on the second important matter, Public eduaction in Brasil sucks. Really bad. For anyone in a first world country it is hard to quantify how awful the public school system is here. Wasting mooney on the World Cup with lack of investment in education is endemic of Brasil's problems and future successes for a population desirous to improve. This leads to the third problem that the protests brought up. Government theft. #1) Estadio Nacional Mane Garrincha - 1.5billion Reais for Brasilia and post World Cup, NO TEAM TO PLAY IN IT. As in the US for public/private partnership convention halls and stadiums, lots of vague promises for future varied uses than never come to fruition. #2) Engenhao -just north of Meier, buit for the 2007 PanAm games and now closed as the supporting arches were built with substandard, too thin steel walls and in danger of falling down. Tough to explain but with oversights and kickbacks on government contracts, the easiest way to pocket some extra money is to use materials not up to code and let those that follow pay for repairs. This happens all of the time here. Hey, I'm sometimes surprised that Itaipu hasn't collapsed. Must be the quality for which Paraguay is known. #3) They have already spent over a billion Reais on the REHAB of the Maracana after spending half a billion only 6 years ago for an earlier rehab To say that the Real is in a free-fall is more than a bit alarmist. We are not exactly in the same situation as Spain, Greece or Cyprus. Fingers crossed. I think part of the reason for the dollar/real gain is the government here easing interests rates to counteract the economic slowdown.
  13. Different strokes for different folks.... And I loved the choice of the grey with the red tie. There was a photo on line of NPH with his hubby, David Burtka, and the hub looked so somber while NPH looked so much more "festive" or dare I type "gay?" But then I am a Joan Ranger Fashion Police whore.
  14. Today's paper had a report from the state's hotel organization. The Confereration's Cup (GO TAHITI!) starts on the 15th and hotel's here in Rio are only booked to 57% of capacity. They are hoping to get that up to 70%. Which means 30% vacancy. When asked if this had anything to do with the price increases that have been made to make more money, he said that the price increase wasn't the hoteliers doing but the third-party tour booking agency that is handling reservations for visitors. If this is true, then it is very similar to what happens here with Sambodromo tickets for the Desfiles during Carnaval. We have a telephone lottery where you are allowed to buy 4 tickets. In about an hour, all the tickets are gone. However the tour companies have loads of tickets that they sell at 3, 5 or 10 times face value available until the last moment.
  15. By the way, my comment about France and the French wasn't directed at PR2K. Far from it. The idiot at the counter who was spewing steam in a mixture of French and heavily-accented English. What are the employees to do? There are rules to follow and if they do not, they might lose their jobs. And because of the poor educational systeem here, a job that pays enough to live on comfortably is not so easy to find. There is still a socialist wage scale here. It definitely dampens personal initiative in the workplace. So I don't know about at 117, but at Meio Mundo the money for wrong charges comes out of the employees pocket when a client complains about their bill. Always around somewhere inside, besides the busty woman at the counter who has been there forever is Herivaldo, the tall thin guy. Any complaint would go to him. But you know, it is a whore house, they are there to make money and that is the way it is. If you don't want to play be their rules and pay them for the room and the condoms/lube, i.e. "the kit", pick someone up on the street. When I was walking out of Extra on Largo Do Machado Saturday at Noon before Mom's Day, I looked at a guy, he looked at me, I looked back, he followed out the door and maybe 10 meters away, I said he looked hot, and he responded that he was available and the cost would be 100Reais. Bam. And condoms and lube at the farmacias are not 3Reais each!
  16. PR2K Read again. I never said that condoms and lube were included at 117 or the CABINES at Meio Mundo, only for the nicer rooms where they include a sheet and condoms/lube with the fee for the ROOM. The owner of 117, Monik, is an ex-whore. And as an ex-whore, she is always looking out for Number 1. Herself. When the boy gets the room, whoever is at the front desk asks if condoms and lube are needed. The boys want the protection. So they hand out 2 condoms and 2 lubes at 3Reais/each. Ka-Ching. Another 12Reais for Monik. IF and a big IF, the client doesn't need them, want them, use them, the desk will be very happy and credit the client's tab/balcao is the term they use for everything other than the room and entry. However, the client needs to know that they can be returned or be informed by the boy. When I was at 117 in March, there was an idiotic Frenchman who was making a big stink about the cost of condoms, lube and the rooms as it was a Thursday night. If you think about it is kind of hilarious. He spends 45 Reais entry to the sauna. He is probably going to pay the guy 70-100Reais for sex and he refuses to pay another 25Reais for the room. Okay. more or less10Euros. How much did he pay for the airfare? And wherever he is staying? Someone much more knowledgeable than myself had this to say about France and the French. France is a wonderful, beautiful country. It is just too bad that the French don't deserve it.
  17. Well, I fell in love on Friday night, all I can say. He was superb. Surprised me how good it was. Not a clue. Just that his looks were what I am exactly in to. I think things kind of go in cycles along with the economy. When more guys are a bit short on funds, which will happen with the current inflation and prices of many things up more than the official rate last year of 6.6%, like Ah-nuld, the Governator, "THEY WILL BE BACK." From my memory from past threads, you have even more demanding requirements than I do. And you know PR2K,those famous last words, it only takes one to make a fabulous night at the sauna.
  18. Well, if anybody goes to Cafe Lamas and is scared away by the prices, one of my favorites is right around the corner with large portions, great prices and wonderful quality. Both meat and veggie offerings with almost the best acai and great sucos. The strangest thing about the place is that some of the customers eat a bowl of acai as a starter before getting to their meal. Like Mom letting me eat ice cream before the liver or lamb chop or tough roast beef. NOT. Rotisseria Sirio Libanesa (just past Extra) Largo do Marchado, 29 - towards the back of the galeria. They have three storefronts 1)sit down tables with waiters 2)stand-up/take-away counter 3)lunch bar with stools and counter service. http://www.rotisseriasl.com.br/ I personally like to walk from Largo do Machado and observe all of the flora and fauna, the old architecture. Especially the old, rounded-front police delegacia at the corner with Pedro Americo, Catete Palace/Museu da Republica and just the vibrant street life all along that stretch. I'll admit that it is more than a bit different from Copa or Ipa, but that is part of its charm. For me, kind of nice to walk on saner sidewalks with turn-of-the-century two and three story buildings and not to be on overly-crowded sidewaks lined with fifteen story apartment buildings.
  19. I prefer a tastier food triad of cocks, balls and ass. I am a bit naughtier than normal as I had a phe-NOM-i-nal programa Friday night with someone I have been wanting to be with since March 7th. The wait due to recuperation from surgery, second cardiac incident in six weeks needing hospital attention, visit to the US and then back here with three different infections. I am finally back to thoughts of my three favorite basic food groups.
  20. GIG = Galeao - Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport Closest intercontinental airport for visits to New Meio Mundo, Clube 117 and Pointe 202
  21. I saw him tonight sitting down next to TeaLady on the bench in the foyer of 117. The picture does not do him justice. Unfortunate. The body, legs, scrotal sack and penis were quite marvelous and soft it was really pretty and quite inviting for a taste. In the above "action" it all looks a bit violent and not quite so tempting. And his skin in person was even prettier than the photos. You all should have been.
  22. Back to the topic. My favorite when I am back home for a visit. https://www.homemadepizza.com/ I really like their pizza with the chevre, Santa Fe chicken sausage, caramelized onions paired with the pear and blue cheese salad.
  23. Adam Smith. The pizza boy delivered and then bit of your dong? Does he have teeth like Jaws from 007 films? How is that possible? And are you okay after this oral attack? Dare I say whole as in whole pizza, whole load or whole lotta calories?
  24. A BoyToy forum member e-mailed me some questions and asked me to answer them. So here goes: What is the cost of the cabine and how long do we rent them for? Are the cabines the same price all week long except free Tuesday? i understand the cabines/suites are for 45 min??? And on free Tuesday the suites are for 30min??? Cabines = The free small space at Meio Mundo - no bathroom Rooms/Quartos = The larger rooms that offer a sheet/lencol and condom/lube included Suites = At Clube 117 with toilet, sink and shower en-suite They go for one hour. That is what is posted and if one asks at the reception, that is the response. However, the free cabines at New Meio Mundo and the Tuesday freebie at Clube 117 are for either 40 or 45 minutes. My brain fails me for the difference. On nights other than Tuesday at Clube 117, the suites go for 25Reais for ONE hour. Each night at New Meio Mundo, the nicer rooms with sheets and condoms/lube included go for 15Reais, 20 Reais and 25Reais. Don't let the boys tell you differently that it is only 30 minutes on free nights and 40 or 45 minutes on other nights. They are just trying to do a fast turnaround. This past Tuesday night, after showering and going back to the locker room to dress, I passed by Lindomar, a beauty from Curitiba who has been around since 2005 or 2006. Very nice guy, brought him back to my home on a couple of occasions. He hugged me very tight and his long hard penis pressed quite forcefully into my abdomen. I told him that I needed to leave to make my boat but he was trying to make it very difficult for me. I then said to him "puro puto" or "pure whore". He just started to smile and nod his head and repeated the same back to me. In essence, I called him on it. Same difference with what the boys parrot to you about the time lengths for the cabines/rooms/suites. Are we supposed to tip the barmen and the cute waiters? Towel boy/toalhiero? I find the waiters lacking at Clube 117, so I never thought about it. I have once tipped the current good waiter at Meio Mundo. And in the past I have infrequently at Meio Mundo. It is a hassle to remember to carry a 5 Reais bill up the stairs from the locker. And after getting dressed, I hate to make the trek back up the stairs to the bar to leave a tip. Around Christmas, I do give my 2 or 3 favorites 20 Reais each. I never put money in the tip boxes. I doubt how much goes into the owners and managers pockets and doesn't reach the employee team. I normally do not tip the towel boy if he is only bringing me flip-flops/Havaianas/sandalias/chinelos when I arrive. However, if I am bringing in anything extra like a package or two or my shopping cart, I always give whoever is helping me 5Reais. On rare occasions, 10Reais. Now big question, this happened on Wednesday night. One of the boys late, came up to me, he did not know my name, and i did not know his name, he said he had no clients can could i give him 10R for his exit fee. what would you have done? If he had a cute smile, gave me a kiss and a hug, felt my dick, played with my nipples, Yep. Otherwise, Nope. There entry is not your responsibility. They know the requirements and you are not there caixa electronica/automatica. They can plead poor, having the crocodile tears, tell you all lies... NEXT! Now, if you have been with them in the past and you liked them and it was a good programa, I would. Last Tuesday, someone I have been with a few times at 117 but had told him that I wasn't interested that day, was a bit off as he hadn't shaved and supposedly didn't have the money to buy a disposable from the desk for 4Reais. He has brought enough to pay his entry and fare back home, but that was it. Whether it was true or not, have no clue. But he claimed the disposable cost 4Reais and he looked a bit sketchy with a three-day beard. The Bradley Cooper-look has not made it to Rio. Almost all shave almost everything. Anyway, I gave him 5Reais and "Desejos Por Bom Negocios" or "Wishes For Good Business."
  25. I found this very interesting. I walk past this place all the time. At least 2-3times a month. And for about 5 months, a couple times weekly as I was dating a guy who worked down the street from this restaurant. As the article states, it really just look like any other lanchonete in the city and no reason at all to make a special stop at this one among the thousands of others. Not to far of a walk to Club 117 and even easier via the metro)only two stops or the onibus 422 which stops the next block up on the other side of the street in front of Livreria Galileu. Café Lamas: Classic Meals, with a Side of History From the street, Café Lamas looks almost intentionally nondescript. A fluorescent-lit bar with a glass case of snacks and a few metal chairs would make it identical to any other lanchonete (snack bar) across the city, if it weren’t for the shadowy doorway behind the bar’s aisle. Behind that door awaits a blast from the past. Café Lamas is Rio de Janeiro’s oldest restaurant – a respectable 138 years old in a city that is rapidly putting on a new face as it buzzes with Olympic, hotel and condominium construction – and the place radiates a sense of history and tradition. Bow-tied waiters politely bend as guests enter the dining room, which is dimly illuminated by lamps on ornate cast-iron mounts. Frosted lettering on mirrors around the dining room promotes the “new delicious Lamas dessert,” which proud co-owner Milton Brito admits is actually no longer new. An all-white statue of a curvaceous woman wrapped in the Brazilian flag sweetly smiles down on diners from one wall. The statue was once colored the green, yellow and blue of the flag, until a member of the military visited Lamas during the 1964-85 dictatorship and demanded that the colors be removed. “He thought it was somehow against the national flag,” explained Brito. The Brazilian Communist Party held its meetings in Lamas during the same period, as did many of the first members of Brazil’s now-ruling Workers’ Party. That’s because Lamas was a rare venue that stayed open around the clock. “It was always frequented by artists, journalists, writers, businessmen, university students,” said Brito, adding that being open 24/7 made it a place Rio’s all-night carousers could set as a fail-proof location to meet up with friends. “Because it didn’t close, everything happened at Lamas.” In 1976, the construction of the metro forced the restaurant to move to a new location about two blocks away. “People said, ‘Lamas had to accept progress,’” Brito said of the eviction. While the original Lamas hosted all-night pool tournaments and drinking contests, the newer location seems to have tamed its old capacity for vice, closing at a more “respectable” 3 a.m., with some black-and-white photos on the wall the only evidence of the former pool hall. And while Lamas may have once been a Communist Party stronghold, its menu prices today are far from proletarian. Indeed, as Brito is proud to note, the restaurant’s eclectic mix of distinguished guests has included Walt Disney, Bianca Jagger and current Supreme Court justice Joaquim Barbosa, seen as a national idol for taking a hard line against Workers’ Party politicians involved in a corruption case called the mensalão, or the “big monthly payoff.” As for the food, keep in mind this dica (tip): traditional Brazilian cuisine is first and foremost about fellowship. Heaping portions are meant to be shared among several diners. Though artesanal dishes with small portions and attention to detail are increasingly popular in Rio’s chic contemporary eateries, to old-time cariocas (like the ones who run Café Lamas), this trend is just a little too individualistic. Cariocas also often value pure ingredients over spice, meaning that Lamas’s menu leans heavily in a meat-and-potatoes direction. Yet there are Lamas dishes that will grab the attention of even a well-traveled eater. The molho de alcaparra, a buttery sauce with capers and parsley, is a Portuguese-influenced side dish that makes a rich dip for the cebola frita, fried onions, or the batata portuguesa, which is a bit like a thick potato chip. The filé à Osvaldo Aranha – a filet mignon au jus covered in crispy toasted garlic bits – is named for a well-known early-20th-century politician and diplomat who committed suicide in the nearby former presidential palace, who took his beef this way at Lamas. Café Lamas also stands out for its fine selection of domestic and imported bottled beers – a rarity in a city that gets its kicks from a pale draft beer called chopp. Índica, a crisp India Pale Ale made by Brazil’s Colorado brewery, is a refreshing palate cleanser between rich courses. For dessert, a must-try house specialty – found nowhere else in Rio – is the creme de abacate com licor de cacau, a moussey avocado ice cream drizzled with cacao liquor and garnished with a lime wedge (cariocas treat avocados as a sweet). Another quintessentially Rio dessert is the goiabada com catupiry, guava paste served with a slightly salty white cheese. A gringa friend in Rio, initially overwhelmed by the large portions of meat-centric plates and heavy sauces, told us she came to understand the local approach to dining when someone gave her the following dica: Think of eating a traditional Brazilian meal as “laying bricks” – consuming heavy, hearty food to build up strength before a long day at work. At Lamas, part of the fabric of Rio de Janeiro, cariocas have been happily laying those bricks for decades.
