  1. Well, we did have Cagney and Lacey on TV for so many years. Timothy Daly did a great job in his cop drag.
  2. Bus strike is over here. That was a quickie. As to the bank guards. still out on strike. It was quite strange to go to the bank yesterday and the branch I went is not permitting the tellers to transact business that needs the handling of MONEY. Yep. Impossible to believe. There are now banks where you cannot deposit cash money. Nor can you go to the teller and withdraw any money from your account nor cash a check against the funds available in your account. Cash transactions only from the ATM. Why? Not enough bank guards here in the "Old Wild West." As an aside to safety, last month on the same weekend in Tijuca, an enormous neighborhood that at one point is near the Maracana and includes the end of the one metro line, two men were shot and killed leaving ATM's on a Friday afternoon on the street Conde de Bonfim. I really is a very nice shopping street in the neighborhood. Except not on the ocean, nicer than Copacabana, Made the papers and the TV news here. Didn't just rob them. Shot them dead.
  3. I wasn't expecting that. Anyone for an eyeful of guano?
  4. Got into the city this afternoon to find out that the bus drivers are striking as well. Only between 5 and 10 percent of the usual number of buses were in operation today. Caused many people to give up even going into work today. Caused the city to empty out early as well so everyone could try to beat the rush. Caused lots of lost business. Tomorrow, a Friday, should be even worse in Centro. Another fried I visited around the corner from where the Mansao da Eva was located on the Rua de Benedetinos agreed about Comlurb - the garbage company - will be sriking towards the end of May. This is all so much like the city motto of Chicago, "Where's Mine?"
  5. If it isn't one thing it is another. Tuesday there were striking bank guards outside many/most of the bank branches. Now yesterday afternoon I saw this. Fun times. And by the way, the Federal Police are the folks who handle immigration at the airports. Imagine that? Not a clue as to what is the unofficial inflation rate, but prices are definitely rising. Eggs have now taken a big jump in price. They were 4.40/dozen, then dropped to 4.10, last week they went up to 4.90/dozen. They used to alway be in the threes. Ditto chicken and beef prices. The taxis here have had a permanent price increase of 15%. The old Flag 2 price for evenings, holidays and weekends has been made the lower Flag 1 price. And a friend who works for the garbage company, COMLURB was telling me that they plan on striking again during the World Cup as they did not get the raise they wanted during their Carnaval strike. RIO DE JANEIRO -- Federal police on Wednesday threatened to stage a nationwide strike during the monthlong World Cup if Brazil's government doesn't increase their pay and improve working conditions. Officers held a protest rally outside the Rio de Janeiro concert hall where national team coach Luiz Felipe Scolari was announcing his roster for the soccer tournament, which begins June 12. About 50 protesters covered their mouths with red scarves and held banners. They stood next to a life-size inflatable white elephant to complain about the high costs that the World Cup has brought to a country still struggling with deficient public services. "We gave all possible deadlines," said Andre Vaz de Mello, president of the federal police union. "If we don't see a government response to change things, we will stop working during the World Cup." At Rio's famed Copacabana Beach, other protesters lined up soccer balls with red and black crosses on the sand, showing photos of victims who have been killed or injured in gunfights in the city's supposedly "pacified" slums. 6. A lower-cost entry into the MHC is commandeering the handicapable bathroom in a 777. Wide open spaces to invade someones hopefully not-so-wide open space.
  7. Emily: Will somebody please tell me why an old rock band like Procol Harem is kidnapping people and causing all kinds of chaos in Nigeria, Africa? Jane Curtin: Um, Ms. Litella, That is Boko Haram. Emily: Oh....Never mind. Okay, at least that's my problem. Either goes to show how old I am, How feeble I am. Or how delirious I am from the hot Carioca peen in my bed at night?
  8. Not sure if there was much coverage around the world about yesterday's riots/demonstrations. The center of Niteroi was closed down with streets and sidewalks blocaded by protestors. Two people were killed in battles between police and drug traffickers. The explanation from a friend in the know is that because then UPP (Favela Occupation Police) keep expanding, the drug sellers have moved across the bay to Niteroi and are trying to now defend their newly-occupied turf. To the north in the larger city of Sao Goncalo, there is the enormous favela Complexo de Salguero. Similar to the Mare and Alemao favela groupings near the Galeao Airport. Funner was this morning's explosion - Brasilian Big Bang, and not in referance to the attack on my butthole last night - of another 1000 feet of the Perimetral from near the Sao Bento Monastery over the Praca Maua to past the headquarters of the Policia Federal, Brasil's version of the FBI. With holidays Friday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday here, it means they are only interrupting traffic for one work day to clean up the mess. Good planning. Hopefully they get all of the concrete and rebar in time for Thursday's commute. 9. It wasn't bad enough that Anita Hill had to testify about Clarence "Dumb Dog" Thomas and the stray pubic hairs. Now she is out on the streets shooting the homosexual lovers of gay men south of the Mason-Dixon Line. You just know BigTuna Tony and his Rightist Cabal are nodding their heads and saying "I told you so" in the mornings coffee klatsch.
  10. I'm not sure which line was funnier. Your balls have a 6-pack or that is the LeBron James of dicks.
  11. Those limeys can't get schedule right. How can one expect them to get Kyiv right?
  12. Rhymes with Skeev as in "Get Your Skyvy Ass Over Here Pronto."
  13. Here's a link IN ENGLISH to the Museum Of Tomorrow. Coming soon, but definitely not tomorrow. Not even the day after. Nor the day after that. Oh, well.... http://museudoamanha.org.br/?lang=en
  14. A few weeks back I heard it for the first time out of the mouth of Sec. of State Kerry. Now one of the talking heads just said is again. When did Kiev become Keev. When I am back in the States and I go to some Eastern European goulash and schnitzel groaning board, do I now pleasantly order Chicken Keev or Keyv or Kyev, but never more Kyev? Adam Smith, where oh where are you, when an aged and distraught Carioca puta needs you now more than ever?

    How Busy Are We?

Well, banging Brasilian booty is preferable than reading and responding to the shite that PR2K posts, dearie.
  19. I really didn't know if it was possible, but....guess what, it is no longer enough to spell it out for you. And as Roseanne said,"it just goes to show you. If it's not one thing, it's another."
  20. Just a good thing that the header wasn't "RAPED, BEATEN, ROBBED & MURDERED" Then my second thought was well maybe this exactly what the tourist was looking from a hook-up on GRINDR. Then my third thought was, isn't Philly's tagline "The City of Brotherly Love?" Then my final thought was, "Fuck, I bet he wishes he had ordered in a Philly Cheese Steak, or maybe he was really looking to order in an uncut, cheesy Philadelphian?" And depending if the other guy used a condom, he did end up with something gooey and creamy in Philadelphia, cheese or not.
  21. Well...if it isn't something, it's something else.
  22. Doncha just love a great dyke like St. Agnes of More Head?
  23. I'm not sure how much coverage there has been in the various media about the newest favela to have sprung up in Rio, its phenomenal growth and quick closure/death. An empty building of the local phone company OI/ex-Telemar, near Norte Shopping and the Jacarezinho complex of favelas was invaded by squatters on March 30 of this year. Just 2 weeks ago. As of yesterday when the police invaded and evicted them, their umbers had grown to an estimated 5000. Yep. Hard to believe. Like an invasion of rats. As many came from a neighboring favela in the Jacarezinho complex - "Rato Molhado" or "Wet Rat" The phone company claims that they have had the building protected under a security service, but just not sufficient to block the invasion of a large number of homeless. So yesterday the police invaded, arrested a few dozen, caused some minor injuries, no deaths, broke up the shacks that were thrown up and increased security. This is all part of planned protests in advance of the World Cup. During Carnaval the garbage men went on strike. They didn't get enough money in the settlement. They are supposedly going to do this all over again during the World Cup when they eyes of the world are on Brasil and especially Rio de Janeiro. Ditto last weeks invasion by the army of Brasil into the Complexo Mare, right at entrance to ilha Fundao and Ilha del Gobernador with about 2500 troops. Not just the Policia Militar. But Dilma and the Federal Forces are involved now. Here are some links for video and photos. You won't understand the portuguese but the visuals are good. http://g1.globo.com/rio-de-janeiro/noticia/2014/04/invasores-fazem-barracos-em-predio-tomado-no-engenho-novo-no-rio.html http://g1.globo.com/rio-de-janeiro/noticia/2014/04/policia-militar-retira-invasores-de-terreno-da-oi-no-rio.html http://g1.globo.com/rio-de-janeiro/noticia/2014/04/mais-invasores-ocupam-predio-desocupado-no-suburbio-do-rio.html The last link I think has the best video.
  24. HITO, Thinking about your HOPE CHEST. Have you had any other HOPE, but Harry's ejaculate on your CHEST?
  25. The train up to Corcovado is a funicular. The Bondinho that goes up to Santa Teresa and connects with the funicular to Corcovado at the Silvestre terminal is a whole other different thing. The funicular is an import of memory serves direct from Switzerland. While the old Bondinho was a rickety wooden affair with steps on the side that the more agile residents of Santa Teresa would hop off and grab on to with no charge as long as they did not sit down. It could always be a bit thrilling crossing the acqueduct at Lapa and being able to look way down. With basically no decent protective fence. And of course, when climbing and descending through Santa Teresa, there was always the fear in the back of my mind at the strength of the brakes. Well, something went wrong in 2011 and five passengers were killed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YmxKdxNfbk
