Don't you think the BF's would find having a few expats and their significant others over for a Farang Thanksgiving an exotic and entertaining experience? What would they make of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatos with speckled butter beans and sweet potato pie? Not to mention the Pilgrim cutouts, paper turkeys and pumpkins & corn shocks. Come on, Oz, they'll giggle over that one for weeks. Give them a good story to tell next time they visit their home villages.

Unless my brain is cooked, George W. Bush used to pull about 40-45 % of the Hispanic vote. California was a swing state until Governor Wilson, a moderate seeking to solve personal political problems, led the Repubs into a nativist crusade back in '94 and threw Hispanics under the bus. See Proposition 187 Other than the immigration issue, which most Hispanics read as a racially motivated attack on their community, there is no particular reason Repubs can't pull a decent share of their vote. Importantly, there is no good reason for the Repubs to continue to cater to the nativist wing of the party. What are haters going to do if they're pushed to the side, vote for the Dems?

An adorable dork? Be still my beating heart! Guess I have to start watching again.

You can...would cost about $30K per, more or less; straights do it all the time. Probably get it done for considerably less in Indonesia or Thailand, I would imagine.

OOPS... hahahahahahahahahaha

By the way, nobody seems to be paying much attention but Wisconsin just elected the first out lesbian to the United States Senate. Hoorah for Tammy Baldwin, junior senator-elect from the great state of Wisconsin!!!!

Good nite, Hito; I'm going to stay up and celebrate for a while.

Closing price on the Iowa Election market was 79 cents for a dollars worth of Obama and 22 cents for a buck of Romney. Please lord, let it be true.

Number 2 makes my blood boil. Amounts to nothing less than an attempt by the Republican Secretary of State to steal the Ohio election if the vote is close there. Pay particular attention to Sec. Husted's latest instructions to the election judges.

Good for you, TY. The ghost of NCM just gave me a nudge and asked me to give you a hearty pat on the back from him.

Because: 1: There's a world of devilment buried in tweeking the definition of "likely voter." 2. 1% is so deep within the margin of error as to make the result near useless as a predictor of victory. 3. Individual polls seem to be inherently less accurate than the average of a bunch of polls (although whole new worlds for devilment open up here too, lol). 4. The only thing that really counts is the vote in individual states and polls for that are likely to be wildly inaccurate. ---- Seriously, forget all the problems involved in getting a representative sample. Just working up a good algorithm to adjust the raw data into a "likely voter" format involves stuff like making a best guess judgement on the effectiveness of each candidate's ground game turn out machinery, what kinds of voter they are really reaching (and exactly how well) and what kinds they will be missing (and how badly). On even numbered days I feel great about this election; on odd numbered days I feel sick at my stomach at the thought of two more Scalia's in their 40's being placed on the Supreme Court. Somebody said that they plan to go to the movies Tuesday evening just to avoid the gut wrenching anxiety of a close election night helplessly watching the tv. I'm giving that idea serious thought.

Iowa Election Market After gradually drifting down after the 1st debate (with a low of 57.6 cents on 10/23), a $1 share of Obama stabilized in the low 60's and then broke sharply higher beginning 10/31. It's now at 74 cents with Romney suffering a sharp sell off down to 28.4 cents. OK, now that means that our more consevative brothers here can clear well in excess of $1,200 bucks in 4 days by making the maximum $500 buyin on Romney at the IEW. Not a bad return for all y'all Log Cabin, free market types, lol.

Rarebit = toasted bread served with a savory cheddar cheese sauce. I always wondered.

Progress is good, I guess. Change is just change; could be bad, could be good; usually just confusing. It only took me three days to figure out how to do the same stuff I always used to do on the old software, so the change wasn't so bad this time. And things do look nattier. And the new software does the log-on for me! Usually. Now that's PROGRESS!!

" I tell the boyfriend to kill it and he walks over, picks it up and walks back a few hundred feet and lets it go." LOL, Oz, I'm sure the BF's have learned to make certain allowances for your barbarian ways.
