To The Hoovillian I saw at Tender Greens 2/25-an apology

Draft Oz and Daddy's pre-nup? Have fun, Lucky. -
Well that's one way to break the ice! Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing.

Ran across this following some link, and thought you guys might like to see Ebert's own take on the Esquire article. Roger Ebert's Last Words, con't.
-
How do we know that ole Russ didn't contribute that remarkable line? ---- I really miss the old Siskel & Ebert show. If both endorsed a movie I was interested in, I knew I would probably like it myself. [liberal cause movies excepted, but it was easy to tell when they were doing an ideological review.]

You gotta admire this guy's tenacity. Brit determined to clear his name.

Actually I had decided against posting this letter from a former Marine DI until I ran across this article about the same sex couple in Malawi. It struck me that the power to distort reality of the culture biased animus against gays in both is much the same. One speaks in an American contex, the other in an African, but both show the same bizarre understanding of what is after all a fairly common behavior world wide. ---- It's enough to make me wonder how much my own understanding of reality is being distorted by the culture I grew up in. Maybe I was hexed by a witch back when and my culture is preventing me from seeing what is obvious to any Malawian.

I don't suppose you could conjure up a gay version of this site.

Brave & tenacious, a manly twink, a cute expressive face. What's not to like? Wonder if he'd like to book his return flight to China via US with an overnight layover in Memphis? ---- "not that anybody is here to read it." chirp....chirp....chirp

And here I thought he was just a natty dresser with a sense of humor. So much for my gaydar! Judge Walker

Hot for one of the boys, maybe? Only reason I can think of.

Where is the government, TY, where is the government? A week after the catastrophe the feckless president is still hiding in a police station. I realize a few ministers and some bureaucrats are dead but where are the rest? Is there not a single element of the Hatian government capable of acting responsibly? The most likely result of all this is the US (& others) will send massive amounts of emergency relief to get the situation stabilized. Say that's 6 months to a year. After that the Army will flip control to the Hatian government and UN relief agencies, who will proceed to squander & embezzle whatever long term aid is made available. The Hatians outside the government will see precious little benefit. OZ, ask your professor friend how he thinks the Haitian governing elite will respond to the presence of large sums of reconstruction money. Judging by the success of the Haitians who have settled in the US, I expect he is right about the spirit and ability of the Hatian people, but I suspect there are also very good reasons for those "high levels of social distrust" not least of which is the "progress-resistant culture" of the elite. Lordy, what a PC way of describing the enormous corruption and contempt for ordinary people embedded in upper class families there. Maybe my information is out of date. I truly hope so. But I suspect likelihood of Haiti's rulers seeing the light is about the same as OZ knee walking down to the altar rail of the First Holiness Church of Reform, Alabama.

Hundreds of thousands may have died in Haiti quake
MsGuy replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
If you have access to unused antibiotics or AIDS drugs, you might want to consider donating them to Hatian PLWA via this organization. I'm embarrassed to admit that it didn't occur to me how precarious these folk's situation must be until I read this article. Aid For AIDS International -
It's not clear to me how the traditional cultural Chinese mindset deals with homosexuality. I understand the culture insists on marriage and heirs, but I'm more interested in how Chinese people conceptualize homosexuality itself. Google wasn't especially helpful as it brings up mostly literary/legal stuff. Anyone here know enough Chinese folks to have some idea about how "gay" is understood by the Chinese?

OZ, Lucky has a point. The gods favor the bold. If you don't set a date for next weekend, you're going to lose epigonos too. E-mail those who have expressed interest, finalize a date & announce it here. At worst you'll spend the night by yourself tipping strippers (at least one of whom is likely to be willing to console you afterwards).

In my home town, a couple of churches with mission ties to Haiti are gearing up to collect funds and supplies for relief efforts. In small towns at least these kinds of groups can usually give you fairly specific information on how any donation will be used, so check them out if you don't trust the big guys to spend your money wisely. -

TY, do you (or anybody else here) know anything about the Comcast/FCC case just heard by the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals concerning the FCC's Net Neutrality rules? I can't make out from the news reports whether Comcast is attacking the procedure used to establish the rules or questioning the FCC's statutory authority to regulate net traffic at all. Maybe it's both. Reporters seem to think from oral argument that the Court is inclined to rule for Comcast. This is different from the BitTorrent class action case settled last month by Comcast. Given your past interest in the net neutrality issue, I thought you might have some insight on this case. If the Court were to find that the FCC lacks authority to regulate, then the cable guys would be free to do what they will, unless the Supremes deign to take the matter up or Congess acts. And strangely enough Texas playing with a quarterback straight out of high school (who probably hadn't even practiced with the first team) was almost offset by odd coaching decisions by Nick Saban. I was kinda hoping for a decisive victory by Alabama just to finalize the dominance of the SEC. Won ugly but won. That will have to do. If Texas had scored a TD at the end instead of giving up a sack/fumble in their own red zone, Saban would still be in intensive care.

Ain't nothing new, StuCotts, remember Rev. Ike's show from the 60's? Send him a free-will offering and he would mail you a personally blessed prayer cloth to put under your mattress. The more you sent, the better it worked. I recall the payoff as 100 to 1; give $10 to God (via the good Rev.) and God would send you back $1000. Halleluyah, praise Jesus, & no refunds.

Escorts Not Logged in for over 90 days will be deleted
MsGuy replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
Flguy, unless there's a lot of guys hot for a grandpa experience, I would be hard put to raise the fees to file for bankruptcy. I think TY or OZ explained somewhere that the list they are using to e-mail the notices doesn't distinguish between escorts and clients. -
