  1. Why is there never a category like "it all depends"?
  2. Maybe we can make a regular recurring thread out of this. http://towleroad.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/chez_bono_shirtless.jpg ---- Well, I tried.
  3. Good catch, JKane. Mallakamb is a sport in India that apparently has roots in Yoga (judges in competions are supposed to be certified by their Swami). It does have set postures and moves much like gymnastics. What did we ever do before Google? Here's another video from a 2007 competition: To me it looks like some of the moves are borrowed from gymnastics rather than traditional Yoga. ---- Somebody ought to tell PurpleKow to come take a look at the OP's video. He would love the thighs on the second guy & the way he wraps them around that pole.
  4. For which site?
  5. Disingenuous, Oz. Don't know or choose not to know or know and choose to have fun with the thread anyway? Interesting position. So it's OK by MER's management if I post here using, say, the name "PurpleKow" so long as folks respond to my PK persona and find my antics "amusing or comical or sad." but could not resist the impulse to add... Full disclosure: I too find this thread amusing & comical & sad (& something of a Rorschach test for how people feel about the other board). Yet the possibilities for mischief in a MER policy allowing folks to masquerade as well known posting identities are endless. Or, hell, maybe "Daddy" really was Daddy.
  6. Q. What does FORD stand for? A. Fix Or Repair Daily
  7. So much more pungent than a "posted: no trespassing" sign.
  8. Hell of it is, Oz, that clip actually makes more sense than most of the stuff published by English grad schools.
  9. Which just goes to show that by temperament you and Oz are better suited to run a board than I am. Probably best that neither site's management participate in trashing the other's site. A car salesman I know says you'll never make a living selling Chevys by knocking Fords.
  10. I have to admit the first post knocked me right out of my booties. Someone is looking to stir up a flamewar. ---- OZ, TY, any way you guys could be persuaded to reveal this guy's true posting name? Not ID his actual identity, just let us know which poster thought this would be entertaining?
  11. You can use this link to judge the Uncle Earl print/Adams(?) plate question for yourself. Ain't the internet great!
  12. Kennedy made a special point of explicitly stating that Romer & Lawrence were not addressing the question of gay marriage. Some folks took that as warning gay legal advocacy groups off bringing this suit for the time being. And therein lies the danger. Walker has done about all a trial court could do to box in Kennedy. If the Court cannot find 5 votes to extend equal protection to gay marriage, whoever writes the opinion will almost certainly have to back-pedal on the critical holdings in Romer & Lawrence. And if the 9th Circuit affirms this case, SCOTUS will have to hear it, no two ways about it. When you think about it, pretty amazing turn of events that the question is even being seriously considered. I'm old enough to have seen guys I knew personally shipped off to prison for being gay. Like the jingle says, "You've come a long way, baby!" Yay us! ---- It occurs to me my real problem with this case is that I'm temperamentally disinclined to push things into all or nothing confrontations. That may be skewing my perception of this case. There are certainly serious arguments for bringing the case now, particularly given the possibility that Kennedy might retire sometime after the 2012 election and be replaced by a nominee selected by a Republican president.
  13. Gov. Schwartzenegger ® & Atty. Gen. Brown (D), the named defendants in the California gay marriage case, have both declined to appeal Judge Walker's decision striking down Prop. 8, saying that they agree with the decision. A private group, ProtectMarriage.com, has tried to file an appeal but Judge Walker has ruled that the group is not a party to the case and lacks legal standing to appeal "Standing" is a set of concepts courts use to restrict who can bring a case. So if the 9th Circuit finds with Walker that ProtectMarriage.com lacks standing to pursue an appeal, for better or for worse Prop. 8 disappears down the rabbit hole of history without benefit of being prayed over by the 9th Circuit and, ultimately, SCOTUS. For more details, see this article in the LATimes. The idea of this case being heard by SCOTUS makes my stomach churn and I certainly can't argue with the result, but somehow it doesn't sit right that a case of this importance would be decided on anything but its merits. Oh well, it is California. ---- Edit: It just gets weirder. If ProtectMarriage.com doesn't have standing to appeal, perhaps Judge Walker shouldn't have allowed it to conduct the defense of Prop. 8 to begin with. Maybe the 9th Circuit should remand the case with directions for a new trial.
  14. What a horribly embarrassing way for the poor boy to go: squished to death by the orgasmic frenzy of thirteen year old girls.
  15. Comment found on NYT blog article on incident: "Kinda surprised that the NYT is capitalizing on a man’s obvious mental meltdown at work. I know Steven and he’s a troubled person who needs help and understanding. He shouldn’t be made the punchline to a Howard Beale joke. Shame on you NYT. You’re now at about the same journalistic level as your crosstown rival the NY Post. At least the Post doesn’t try to be anything other than what it is. You should know better. — ferryboi"
  16. There's always somebody...
  17. Yeah, right. Based on their prior decisions, there are 4 solid votes against extending equal protection to gays as a class. Kennedy, who was the deciding vote in Lawrence v. Texas, specificately stated in his majority opinion that the Court was not addressing the issue of gay marriage. This case hangs on whether or not he now thinks that marriage is a step further than he is willing to go.
  18. Things are slow on the other site too. Probably one of those periodic lulls on both sides. Humor?
  19. I had to read your post 3 times to figure it out. Too old, too slow, too many fried brain cells. ---- BTW, thanks for the pix, eeyore, your Taboo twink definitely rates an off premises visit.
  20. As long as their dividend was secure, I doubt the governors much cared to inquire over closely into the antics going on below decks. Besides, a happy crew is a productive crew.
  21. That peg is slang for fuck. The rest is best classified as urban myth.
  22. But did you actually cut back on the hookers? I find that budgets have a lot in common with diets.

  24. Congratulate Lucky for not allowing the steroid stuff to spoil the moment for him.
  25. O.J.'s dream team waltzed him out of the court room by defining the terms of his trial. Clever pols have been using this technique ever since Alcibiades.
