  1. To me, Santorum is not so obviously erratic as Bachmann & the Grinch, nor so obvious a loser as Perry. Not all moderates will care all that much about his positions on abortion or gay equality. Hopefully some really nasty stuff will surface during the primaries because Santorum is the only guy in the clown car that actually scares me. I'm not so sure that he's unelectable should the economy head south this summer.
  2. I'll keep a candle lit for you, Lucky.
  3. Pew Research just released a poll showing Santorum has pulled even with Romney nationally among likely Republican voters (actually slightly ahead but within margin of error).
  4. May it please the Honorable Court, I would like to speak a few words on behalf of our dearly departed. Like the peerless lookin, I am of the opinion that the post count sub judice seems to have been reduced w/o notice, hearing or semblance of due process. True my opinion might reasonably be argued to be biased in so far as I was one of the two or three members replying and, if I may go so far as to say it, being entertained (bow to JKane), still I was also one of the competitors for the largess so perhaps my prejudices and self-interest are sufficiently balanced to allow for at least a degree of credibility for my testimony. Damn me, miLord, the convolutions of my oration have tangled even my own mind. Allow me a moment to rehearse my thoughts... .... Ah! Yes! Now although the noble management of this glorious site wisely reserved unto itself the power of final judgement* and further specified that soley posts of good quality would be considered** (nice touch that ; quality being such a highly subjective criterion), still one might argue that a prima facie case might easily be constructed that the offending posts (judging by prior precedent on other, unrelated threads which have gone unremarked by management) were sufficiently within the letter, if not the spirit, of the contest rules to, at the least, merit a private admonishment before being stricken from the annals. (True, to the best of my memory, the other posts and posters did not explicitly avow an intent to game the system, but that line of thought doesn't seem to further my argument, so perhaps we should set that aside for consideration in some other thread.) Continuing: Justice, to be worthy of the name, must be seen to just and not administered under the cloak of night. In summation, may I suggest that if the Honorable Court has had sufficient patience to parse its way through the above bloviation, surely Your Honor can muster the tiny bit more necessary to reach out to our missing brother and restore harmony to our beloved MER! * "Judges decision is final." ** "To qualify, the posts must be reasonable quality. One or two word posts will not count." (I take the 2nd sentence to be by way of exemplar and not intended to restrict the meaning of 'reasonable quality'.)
  5. It has the not inconsiderable additional value of being an extension of an existing program that most people are already familiar with & can readily understand. Works for me, but it gores a lot of folks in the health-care business besides the insurance crowd. Probably why it ain't on the table.

    Shoe shopping

Oh my good Lord, Hito, that is a little over the top.
  7. I think there's something to that. Once you start tugging on that race thread, everything else seems to unravel too. Even the parts you like.

IMHO, seeking 'a higher level of discourse' on a bugchaser thread is an exercise in futility. But, as always, I defer to your greater experience in all things MER.

TY, may I suggest that the Sand Box is an ideal location for these bugchaser posts?
  10. plus 1, lol
  11. LOL. I'm a slow reader.
  12. Consider also that Santorum + a Republican Senate majority = reinstatement of DADT.
  13. ahahahahahaha
  14. Trevor, just so you know, Lucky must take his thorazine on a regular basis. If he's spitting out the pills again, the BF hides the suppositories on the top shelf to the right of the kitchen sink, in a large size Arm & Hammer box. Don't tell Lucky or he'll flush them. Good luck and bless you, boy, you're doing God's work. Whatever they're paying you, it isn't enough.
  15. The Ever Vigilant Mantis: It's green, it's efficient, it's your first line of defense!
  16. Well, the important thing is that you're alive, safe and (obviously) in possession of your iPad. All's well that ends well.
  17. Possibly this is one of the class of offences in France that requires the injured party to file an official complaint of some sort before the public prosecutor is empowered to act. Just a guess and I agree the article is confusing on this point.
  18. Lucky, still slightly groggy from thorazine suppositories, searches the remains of Palm Springs for his missing iPad. Sadly JKane's motel room appears to be ground zero for the explosion and authorities hold little hope for recovering enough of his body to make a positive identification.
  19. WOW, you guys are hard core! I was thinking more along the lines of slipping it under the sofa or something. Maybe this contest is starting to spin out of control.
  20. LOL, that's the trick, Charlie! Quick, hide the iPad before he gets back.
  21. Burp!
  22. Samuel Larson:
  23. After careful study, I'm leaning toward makeup smear; the location isn't right for a plug of Red Man.
  24. We're all better now, ain't we, Mr. Lucky.
