    Pacific Rim

I fucking loved Pacific Rim. Most epic, over the top Sci-Fi I've seen in many years. A lot like Independence Day but better. Worth seeing in theaters and worth seeing in "Imax" 3D! It's not perfect, there are some parts that drag and some things that are goofy, but the fight scenes/vfx are so well done you'll probably let all that slide while you're watching. I wanna see it again!
  2. Looking forward to it, first one was great--with a couple drinks in me, expect the same of the sequel.
  3. The kid didn't do anything interesting, I did think the older guy was cute but clicked close as soon as he started singing in auto-tune.
  4. Dell has a really interesting cross between a tablet and All-In-One that I'm interested in. When it gets the new Haswell chip and therefor better battery life I may well buy one. But it does a lot more than a regular tablet--full Windows machine.
  5. I think Dick Cheney calling him a traitor is pretty major vindication for his actions. I'm not too sure of Snowden's motives, but am glad people are finally paying attention to extremes the security industrial complex keeps surpassing.
  6. Jumping in so fast, what, did you get knocked up? ;o) Congrats!
  7. We don't give money to somebody who may (/ has in the past) use it suppress our civil rights. When Card worked against us in the Prop 8 fight, even though I loved the original series, I gave all his books to a local used book store. He hurt us with his actions, sorry but I don't believe in turning the other cheek or any other such claptrap. He's written a very interesting plea though, that basically goes even further than what we've achieved, realizing that whether you personally agree or not CONSTITUTIONALLY equal rights will have to become nationwide. > Ender’s Game is set more than a century in the future and has nothing to do with political issues that did not exist when the book was written in 1984. With the recent Supreme Court ruling, the gay marriage issue becomes moot. The Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution will, sooner or later, give legal force in every state to any marriage contract recognized by any other state. Now it will be interesting to see whether the victorious proponents of gay marriage will show tolerance toward those who disagreed with them when the issue was still in dispute. Orson Scott Card My plan is to buy a ticket for something more worthy of my dollars then slip in to Ender's Game. Hopefully others will as well.
  8. Congrats Lucky!
  9. Yeah, and the conservatives are nothing if not kind-hearted. They pull this exact shit every time they talk about making English the "official language".

    Crushed Ice

Lately I've been addicted to Boba. Odd texture to get used to but after the second time I tried it I just kept wanting it. Wish they did Coke Zero Slurpees!
  11. he attempts to battle his obesity makes a public mockery of himself for money/publicity and further endangers his health with the inevitable yoyo all these contestants seem to do
  12. So how many hot South American hubbies are posters bringing back next trip?
  13. I heard a story on this the other day, they also have to advise the jurors not to visit the scene (as always) but specifically not via Google Maps / satellite pictures either! And during the case you can't discuss it with anybody, not even fellow jurors. That's only once deliberation starts.
  14. Reminds me of the South Park where they establish he is not, in fact, "The King of all Black People".
  15. Somewhat spoiler, if anybody wants to discuss the show itself... --- It kinda bothered me that kid had to deal with both an allegory for being gay and being gay at the same time. And that apparently being gay might actually be worse than being undead??? WTF? I enjoyed the first season somewhat, like I said, and the lead is cute, but don't really need another season. If I'm bored maybe I watch, but it's not something I'll seek out or eagerly await...
  16. I watched it a week ago and somewhat enjoyed it.

    What Is This?

It looks like a boundary layer mic to me. They are very wide angle and there may be a supplimental mic or two. But as long as there's no background noise and the dealer doesn't rake it with cufflinks or something every deal it would do a pretty good job of getting the table's audio even by itself. They're often used on stages, boardroom tables, and are even good for micing a piano.

Much better view than being there! Thanks Expat!

    L.A. Pride

I went. Didn't want to deal with driving, made the looong walk from Holly/High down. Some hotties, watching the sidewalks was usually more interesting than the parade. But as always, WeHo clones only see each other. The parade itself seemed poorly ran--large gaps between groups early on, lengthy periods of dead stop towards the end. Also the Bradly Manning thing annoyed me (didn't see any mention at all)... and the corporatism even more so: NBCUni made most of their participants shill their latest shows; and I don't care how much they may support LGBT workers, does Bank of America really get to participate without counter-protest or boos? The (My Imaginary Friend) Hates Fags-type people were there again, loud and disgusting. They were opposed by a fairly effective counter-protest but it didn't feel like enough.
