  1. Only if you willfully ignore them. https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2020/04/18/politics/fact-check-coronavirus-briefing-april-18/index.html https://www.salon.com/2020/04/19/in-an-exclusive-interview-robert-reich-explains-how-oligarchs-are-cashing-in-on-the-pandemic/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/04/19/hold-these-republicans-accountable-deaths-caused-by-recklessness/?utm_source=reddit.com https://www.salon.com/2020/04/18/trump-admin-awards-n95-contract-far-above-normal-price-to-bankrupt-company-with-no-employees-report/ But by all means, find some picayune thing wrong with a story above to justify ignoring 99% of it's correct reporting while doing backflips to justify "the President has total authority".
  2. We really do need to go back to the tax rates of Reagan or before. You know, it sure is funny that the oil and railroad barons still made all that knowing they'd be in a 90%+ tax bracket but today's say they won't get out of bed if their nominal rate is above 30%. And if they didn't just want to pay their taxes they put it into foundations or other public works that still exist today, meanwhile pretty much only Gates/Buffet have a meaningful foundation doing public good today.
  3. The facts aren't hard to find, I'm so tired of "partisan truth". Trump's only accomplishment in the early days was the China ban, by which time the states receiving direct flights had already put in screening and limits and after which something like 450,000 still traveled. He then went to several campaign rallies and golf trips while downplaying the "China flu" as a hoax. Ignoring dire warnings and advisories from experts for all of February and doing fuck-all in March to boot. His circuses, I mean press conferences are often full of objective lies. Anybody who can't take 2 seconds and instead defends them... And we know he doesn't actually know what "billions" are as he's been lying about being a billionaire most of his life.
  4. Wait, the one in West Hollywood is unrelated or... did I not notice it close? On Santa Monica BLVD and La Jolla...
  5. Here's the thing Lucky, most of the promises the VPN providers give about making you safer are bullshit. Damn near every web page you go to is encrypted these days. See that lock next to boytoy.com? Means this text could not be intercepted on the way between me and the site, and restrictions are even stronger if you're dealing with passwords and especially CC numbers. Somebody hacks boytoy (or a ecomerce site that has my info) they'll get my info regardless of if I used a VPN to connect to initially give them that data. Most importantly, almost all EMAIL is now encrypted too, if you go to gmail or mac.com you'll see the same lock. Just make sure you're not using some old setup relying on pop3 or IMAP. Their app on your phone or the web page will be fine. This wasn't the case before, but it is now, so as far as security, VPN doesn't do much at all. Even when you're on a fishy network, now that almost everything from your browser is encrypted. The only way to realistically defeat this encryption would be to have something installed on your computer (maybe a shady VPN app?). Privacy, on the other hand... it helps a bit. Your ISP knows you went to boytoy.com, and most likely, so does your government. However, I believe it's just the top-level site. That you went to youtube (or youporn), yes, what you searched and watched, no. Also, your ISP, your government, and many companies will impose restrictions based on location. Netflix's selection is different here vs. Thailand. You can't watch BBC content from their page in the US. Can't search for Tienanmen Square in China. So a VPN takes all your traffic, encrypts it (usually again) and it comes out the other end at some other point you've set in the world, your local ISP can't read it at all, and it appears to come from whatever country you've chosen as the endpoint for this session. There's a problem here though... it costs real money to make possible on any scale and so how exactly is the VPN provider making a profit? Turns out some are fronts for the NSA and similar. If they have *all* your traffic, and especially if they got you to install something... they have you. Also, your ISP can see you're sending data through a VPN tunnel, and may not allow that. Many of the public networks the VPN tells you it's protecting you from... might not allow VPN traffic at all, hotel, aircraft and public wifi networks often have this restriction. And it slows your data down a lot, mostly because of the extra trip halfway around the world all your data goes on. Those endpoints are somewhat easy to detect and there aren't a lot of spare public IP addresses. So some of the things you're trying to access (say BBC.uk) may have already blacklisted many of the enpoints in the UK.
  6. At first I thought they were trans, but I usually find trans guys a lot more attractive than most of these. No particular interest in butch lesbians, but who else here's had some fun with ftm trans? I don't fetishize them or even go especially far to seek out, but it was both different and fun the couple times I've experienced it. No interest in mtf, so it is guys I like to fuck.

    Fauci

The main thing I like about Daddy is his curation of articles to look at, and this one is a doozy, on the same topic: https://www.advocate.com/health/2020/4/08/standing-next-pence-fauci-praises-courage-dignity-gay-people
  9. I've heard a couple mentions of HIV medications in trials to see if they help with the Coronavirus. Studying all those currently on PREP or HIV medications seems like a promising shortcut indeed.
  10. I do really want to see this as well, unfortunately it's not on my HBO on-demand, but I should get screener access soon. Also eagerly awaiting access to Picard. I did just finish S1 of His Dark Materials, and... meh. It's pretty well done and very well shot, with some good actors and great VFX, but something about it didn't resonate with me, though I may well also watch S2 when it comes out (already in the can). Started to watch the new War of the Worlds miniseries and... watching a post-apocalypse show while sheltering in place is rather difficult. Especially with all the stupid personal crap... IT'S THE END OF THE FUCKING WORLD, PULL TOGETHER AND STOP YOUR BULLSHIT I keep feeling like yelling at the screen. Then again I feel like that reading some threads on here too... ;oP
  11. Agreed, yet we're also not swimming in guys needing to pay rent each month, at least not in any venue I know of. I would think we'd be the first to know if all the cute young counter clerks got desperate...
  12. Is unemployment really as low as they say, and will it stay so when half (or more) of the retail jobs are gone?
  13. Just saw Macy's announced closing 1/3rd of their stores. Fuck those Trump supporting fucks, but... sure going to be a lot of retail jobs lost plus vacant real estate.
  14. SFO's street retail scene seems to be falling down too. The now humorously named Forever 21 and Barney's have left huge anchor-store gaps it's hard to imagine anybody filling. I walk by some clothing places and can't believe they can afford to stay open, but I bet some landlords are starting to realize that any tenant is better than a row of vacant places.
  15. Just thought it was funny that I watched a new 3 part Netflix documentary and then remembered discussing the story here years ago.
  16. Interesting to find this thread after watching the Netflix "Don't F*** with cats" documentary! Also... https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=luka+magnotta+porn
  17. I'm going to Montreal for a couple days next week. Last trip I had quite a lot of fun with a guy from Adonis but I think I heard they closed...
  18. He has had the money and success to rent anything (of age...) he wants. When your reputation, career, or whole life is on the line, why not just do that? So much safer and you can get everything you want instead of some groping or head at best. At his level you add on NDAs, sure, even then there'll be rumors and gossip, but no jeopardy. Because he's a narcissistic asshole who enjoys taking advantage of people, and the sex (and sexuality) are secondary to the power play. I mean, we've seen a couple good people #metoo'd but it seems fairly obvious Spacey wasn't one of them. If he gets through the suits though, no reason he can't continue to play the sleazy ego-maniacal bad guy he mostly always plays. We'll just know why he's so believable.
  19. Ok, I miss-remembered the killing, but still offensive. Kevin Hart told some jokes where the punchline is that he wouldn’t want a gay son. Nobody really gives a shit about what Kevin Hart thinks so it got ignored. Kevin Hart tweets daily for two years calling people fags and faggots. Just because you used to say it back then too doesn’t mean it was ok, just that you were ignorant at the time. Kevin Hart says multiple times seemingly not in comedy formula or for some reason devoid of any set up or punch lines that he would hit his son if he caught him playing with dolls. Really, not cool. Kevin Hart gets called on it, and in a RS interview in 2015 says he wouldn’t say those jokes anymore because “people get too offended these days” but THEN in the same article proceeds to say he would be a failure of a father if his son turned out gay. Keep in mind fathers have no ability to change their child’s sexuality once determined. Kevin’s statement only works if you think gay people are lesser anyway. Failed as a father? So gay children are inherently failures? Pretty shitty. For some reason people took the above 2015 as an apology? Despite him not apologizing. Around that time he also got dragged for his movie Get Hard which had some reaaally questionable jokes but hey it’s a dumb comedy so nobody really gives a shit. Kevin Hart gets hired to host the Oscars. People remember the shit he said and didn’t apologize for, so they bring it back and a whole new audience sees his tweets and so-called “jokes”. There is backlash and the Oscars give him a call and say hey we still want you to host but please apologize for those tweets, we have a big LGBT following and it’s not a good look. Kevin says he’ll “pass on the apology” because he “already addressed it” (not apology) and he says people should just focus on positivity and be happy for him. He didn’t express any positivity towards gay people up until that point so you can see why gay people may not want to send any positivity his way. Kevin “triumphantly” steps down from hosting and reddit says he’s a champion of free speech and that he should’ve kept the job (that he wasn’t fired from) because “fuck outrage culture”. Kevin then flips on his previous refusal and apologizes on twitter after stepping down
  20. People should not assume that Kevin Hart's "jokes" are being over-reacted to without reading them. I highly doubt that Chris Rock said things like he'd kill his son if Gay, etc. Hart didn't get Me Too'd or caught by the PC police, when it comes to things he's said he was a deeply offensive bigot and should have been disqualified from the start. Still he was given an opportunity to apologize and didn't. Fuck him.
  21. Pretty sure she has something coming out on Netflix this week or so! Yep! https://www.netflix.com/title/80166467 The previous example of Oprah is interesting because she has Emmy and Oscar winning or nominated work and now an empire worth billions. So using her as an example of how Ellen should stay put doesn't make much sense... Just saw a funny gif the other day of Ellen on set dancing in a crowd, turning towards a woman who went to hug her and promptly turning away instead. Couldn't find it in a quick search but did find mention of a "no hugging" policy for her show. Basically everybody's claimed her as their upbeat elfin pal and expect that from her all the time, must be fucking exhausting.
  22. Finished it, and I'd say 3rd season of Daredevil is my favorite (Marvel show) since the first season of Jessica Jones.
  23. I've had a Pixel3 for about a month (not XL). I like it. With all the spam/robocalls the call screening feature is a killer app. One, it calls out 'likely spam' calls. But if you get a suspicious call from a number you don't know if your own exchange you just hit "screen call" and it talks to them, asking them to identify themselves, and shows you the transcript. If you like the answer you can pick up the call. Usually the spammer hangs up in frustration. I like that it has wireless charging (kept me from previous Pixels), though don't like that they propritized fast wireless charging. Still, the kinda expensive wireless charging stand has replaced my alarm clock on the nightstand. I love that it's not filled with shit Samsung alternatives to the apps I actually mean to use. And that it doesn't try to lock me into them, like the fucking Bixby button on modern Samsungs which can't be reprogrammed. The camera seems amazing so far, but the killer app there for me has always been the google photos cloud it uploads to and then does cool shit to your photos with. But best of all is that it will improve over time. Constant fixes but also new features. Missed that since my Nexus phone. Biggest issue so far is that either the speech recognition (as a typing alternative) doesn't get me yet or is somehow not as good. Hopefully it'll either learn or be improved.
