I'm intrigued that no-one mentioned the easy availability of 'recreational pharmaceuticals' and 'legal highs'. Certainly in Europe, such drugs are often cheaper than alcohol. And FWIW I agree with the posters who cited the lack of good parenting. Perhaps this ties in with families being formed later in life and the parents relentlessly praising and spoiling their single child (aka the "little Emperor" in China). When such children reach adulthood, making their way independently in the world must seem very hard

Where to get the most "bang for your buck" for a boy-cation....
msclelovr replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
And to answer the original question: London. If you plan ahead, airfares are reasonable (or you can use miles/points). Hotels are varied and prices can be affordable. And there are hundreds of good looking working guys from various countries as well as many fit-bodied locals who may play for free or want only modest "support". -
Fun thread. It brought back memories of SoBe for me.. Where would be a good (ie clean, well-kept rooms with a big bed, bathroom and decent breakfast) hotel to stay in FTL?

IMHO unless you've befriended guys online before you go - Chile is too conservative a society/place; Buenos Aires currently has a lot of crime and guys are very flaky about dates even if you're willing to pay. -
As an aside, there is a newsletter published online from the UK - Popbitch - which is very revealing. And despite the UK's fierce laws against defamation and libel with very heavy damages being awarded to litigants, Popbitch has never been sued successfully. I mention this because twice in the past year Popbitch has alluded to the way in which Marilyn Manson delights in introducing the wonders of recreational pharmaceuticals to young stars who are squeaky-clean. Popbitch has alluded to his growing friendship with a teenage popstar who has achieved success and fame worldwide and tho coming from Canada now resides in the USA.

What a difference a few years..and steriods make!

Tomcal, your photos of Andre, the lean Brazilian who moved to Europe and is now muscled with a six-pack, are intriguing. But readers should beware: it doesn't always work out so well. From the gym, I know a middle-aged guy (a retired Army officer) who went to Brazil on holiday and came back with an unusual souvenir, a 19 year old boy who moved in with him. I saw the boy shortly after his arrival and he was like Andre, tall and lean. The boy came from an ordinary, large family in a working-class area. My gym-friend is not rich but lives comfortably. And within a year, the ready access to all the food he wanted, and all the sugary things he desired, caused the boy to balloon in size. He's now 23/24, still tall but he's very fat with love-handles and a wobbly belly. He still lives with my gym-friend, who now looks elsewhere. -

Thanks for posing, trzinko. I've enjoyed your reports. And I was glad to see photos of Tomenai: it looks as if all the men have their legs in the air - my kinda place! (Sorry I couldn't resist a quip) -

Thanks for the update. He's a nice-looking young man with a good body. -
If we're going to judge a person's intentions by his looks, may I add that he seems to have the full, soft lips that a dedicated cocksucker would want to possess.

Agree 100%, ihpguy. And the thrill is enhanced as you walk out over the falls, and you see to your right an incomplete walkway that is higher - and which bears a notice (in Spanish only) that it was closed after part of it was washed away by the strength of the waters! -
And just to add, he was featured on the lunchtime BBC TV news today. They showed his "coming-out" video in part and even broadcast some of the video where he and his diving mates danced in speedos on a beach in Australia. The comments were very supportive, and pointed out that he is the first gay athlete to come out while the majority of his career is ahead of him.

What should I post for my 1,000th post???

To answer the headline question: your itineraries for your next 10 trips to Brazil ;-) -
I've spent two long weekends there, once with an Argentine boyfriend and once alone. I found the city interesting but dull in terms of nightlife. Society is noticeably more conservative in Santiago than in Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro. By this, I mean in terms of gay equality and easy acceptance. I did not encounter any homophobia but I noticed that in our hotel rooms, we always had two beds made up even though I had specified in the reservation that we wanted one kingsize bed. Although we pushed the beds together at night, after housekeeping had been, they were always separated. I gather from Latin American friends that this is quite usual for two men checking into hotels in Chile. I think Valparaiso is charming and well worth a visit. I too would like to visit the Atacama desert but I feel it is too far from the capital to visit unless you have a week in Chile.

I saw the show last night. The London Palladium, a very large theatre, was packed. The show ran for almost 3 hours with a 20 minute intermission, and Barry Humphries (at nearly 80 years of age) was on stage for almost all of that time. The first half showed his characters of Dr. Sir Les Patterson (ex Australian cultural attache to Europe) with his very large penis and wildly politically incorrect humour, then Gerard (Les's brother, and boy-loving priest) who talked about how he liked to touch people, followed by Sandy Stone (a bleak ghost of a war veteran) lamenting how Australia has changed. The second half began with a US TV expose video of the hitherto unrevealed secrets of Dame Edna's life. Then Barry Humphries emerged as Dame Edna in full parody as "Eat, Pray, Laugh" with songs, dance, interviewing audience members etc before a glorious finale of gladioli-throwing. The whole show was riotous fun and I haven't laughed so hard for so long in ages. One of the highpoints was when Dame Edna invited a gay man and unrelated woman on to the stage so she could "check their tantric DNA". She asked their names and what they did for work - when the woman replied she worked "in sexual health sysytems", Dame Edna exclaimed "I've struck gold!" After a standing ovation (very rare in London theatres), Barry Humphries returned (in black tie) and gave a charming speech about how he had always loved performing in London but it was time for him to retire.
-
I have to dispute with you. He/she has been adamant that this is her final full show. Barry Humphries has said in interviews that Dame Edna may appear in future in small roles as a guest or part of a larger show by others. I last saw him/her 2 years ago when he/she played a medium-sized role in a larger show. Very funny but clearly he's no longer as vigorous as he once was. Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to this final full show and I'm going on Wednesday evening. Incidentally, the prices for this show are the highest I can recall in London for a one-person show. I have top-price seats at $160 each.

Tom, is Yuri's cousin (in the pic with Yuri and his girlfriend) named Renato? I ask because he looks exactly like a friend of mine, a Brazilian now making a life in NYC.

most used review website in EU?
msclelovr replied to young11's topic in European Men and Destinations
The short answer is that there isn't such a good site. Gayromeo may be the best online site for finding guys (non-commercial as well as commercial) but an aspect of the site is that commercial guys can remove adverse comments/negative reviews that clients write on their "guestbook". Tho I hire very much less than I did 10 years ago, I find there are many fit 20-something guys who work 'part-time' to supplement their income. Invariably they are discreet about what they state online, the photos they display and they never want to have a review posted. -
I'm not being critical of Axiom's comments on David Sweet. I simply feel it's worth pointing out that he has performed (as the bottom) in bareback porn movies. Others that may consider meeting him should be aware of this.

Interesting thread, and if you'll permit a different perspective...it is a day that is still venerated in the UK. For some weeks before, red poppies (a symbol of World War I) are sold on the street; the proceeds go to charities for veterans. The poppies are worn by both men and women, normally high up on the chest. The evening before, there is a concert from the Royal Albert Hall to honour past and present servicemen and women. The Royal family and politicians attend and it is televised on the BBC. On Remembrance Sunday, there is a major parade of 10,000 veterans in central London and smaller parades and ceremonies throughout the country. The London ceremony of remembrance is televised, attended by politicians from all parties and led by The Queen. And at 11am, everyone is still, central London is hushed and the nation observes 2 minutes silence in honour of the dead. (The TV coverage is of the Cenotaph, the memorial in central London, surrounded by a sea of wreaths of poppies but there is no commentary for that time). And again yesterday, there was 2 minutes silence at 11am. Being a normal workday, observance is voluntary but many people in shops and businesses do stop and observe the silence. Of course, times do change: 50 years ago, it was normal for all traffic to halt just before 11am and people stepped out of cars etc to stand in silence in the street. Here is a link to pictures of the London ceremony http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-24887778

Which hotel are you staying in this time, Tom? And do you book a particular type of room or just request an extra-large bed?

In " News That Will Surprise No one" Gore Vidal hired hustlers!
msclelovr replied to TownsendPLocke's topic in The Beer Bar
Some years ago, the BBC TV produced a profile of Gore Vidal. As I recall, the programme was about an hour long. In it, Gore Vidal talked candidly about his attraction to hustlers who were clean-cut and athletic and he openly mentioned his frequent hiring of them. -

I've only changed planes in Bangkok, so may I ask you for your advice please. I too like collegiate guys, say 21+ who have fit, muscled bodies. Are they more likely to be found in Bangkok than elsewhere in Thailand? And what good luxury hotel and area would you recommend in the city?
