This is a good a place as any to say goodbye. I learned a lot from this forum and really appreciated the advice people like @Tomcalgave so generously. Like some of the eager travelers who discovered Brazil here I may have been annoying at times and may have pressed too far in getting leads, for that, I apologize. But if every post now is going to get hijacked and we know we can't trust the fellas on this forum with pictures, which did make this place a lot more fun, then I think it's a good a time as any to retire my sexy avatar and move on. Good luck to everyone and safe travels.

I miss the photos, they make the posts more interesting, but sadly, I would not recommend anyone post pictures.

There are also two other clubs. Sauna 520 and club 773. No personal experience but 773 is supposed to be very nice. Both reportedly have working guys.

No, I think you have to sign in to see the photos but all it takes is an email address. I stopped posting non public photos of anyone's face a long long time ago on the public side of the forum. What really disappoints me is that someone also shared, twice, photos from the members only club that @tomcal set up. There is something fun about sharing a bit of your experience with other travelers and also seeing whom they met in the hopes you'll see them in your next trip to Brazil or wherever. But Tom is right, fool me once shame on me. I won't post any pictures going forward.

Got to go to mezzaninu twice this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Both nights were huge disappointments. The first they did not have the large towels my plus size ass requires and I was left to flash half the club almost all the time. I would have stayed clothed but really wanted a steam sauna so, balls out. That first night we, we is me and a travel companion who is very good looking and very very endowed, looked and looked for a passivo to come play with us. We found two but the first refused to come with us when he saw a picture of the thing. The second went along the look on his face when my friend found his way in was about what you'd see if you asked someone to provide a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem. I couldn't stop laughing at the blend of sheer confusion, pleasure and pain. The second day we invited a friend we found on a website. He was quite good, maybe a bit expensive, but he stayed with us for a couple hours and had a great time. The problem that day was that they completely ran out of towels. A quick Sharon Stone is one thing. Walking around like a nudist on his birthday was a step too far. I had to skip the steam sauna and share single towel with the guys when we all showered after our time together. Oh and the ac was out in the suite and we were all bathed in man sweat before during and after. I know some of you will think that is a plus, but it would have been nice to have been able to cool off.

@pauleiroI would follow @Riobard suggestions on this. I reached out to him and discovered my friend in BH has his car in the shop and is looking for someone to sponsor the repairs. I declined so if you pop up he'll be very keen.

Maximum you have ever paid to a sauna boy?

About ten years ago I knew a guy in Rio who said he charged R120 for out calls. In the sauna it was slightly less. He has aged extremely well, learned English and today, he is still working for a group of select clients. He is said to charge R500/hr and several thousand a day for trips to Greece, France, Mexico, etc. Is paying a lot always or mostly always overpaying? -

When I'm in SP I try to make a point of seeing this guy. He's extraordinarily good at what he does.... Very sweet, as you can tell. Much better option than Mr. London. I think he really wants to leave Brazil, I'm just not the marrying type. -
Glad to hear you're OK Tom.

Dragon in Fortaleza is the best looking sauna in Brazil. It is a gorgeous space.

One more point that is bugging me. An argument based on anecdotal evidence is something like this : a guy from New York robbed me, therefore New Yorkers are thieves. It involves limited examples or personal experiences to make broad statements or conclusions. Citing broad national statistics is the opposite of that. The conclusions could still be incorrect and the survey methodology could be flawed, but that is a different argument. Oh and calling someone a racist xenophobe in the middle of a discussion on crime and risk is an ad hominem fallacy. That means you attack the person and not the argument. Finally, I agree there is no way to be perfectly safe, even at home in your basement, other than being dead. I still disagree though that you can't do anything to be "careful" in Brazil and in most places with similar crime issues, to lower your risk of becoming a victim. You stay in nicer areas, don't wear jewelry, don't flash around electronics, and don't bring strangers home. This may only lower the risk slightly and none of it would have helped the OP. Whatever the risk, I agree with everyone who said the risk is worth it because Brazil is a pretty amazing place.

And since you wanted to look into his eyes...

@Latbear4blk you are arguing against a point I am not making. I neither said the US is paradise or that Brazil is a shit hole. I said Brazil overall is more dangerous than the US and lots of US cities. That is only an argument for a little bit of caution. If you disagree and think caution is unnecessary, I think that is irresponsible advice. The statistics are fairly clear, the Brazil murder rate is just under 30/100K. The US murder rate is just under 6/100K. In terms of specific cities, in my mind, New York and São Paulo are comprable in terms of crime rates and the level of caution you might want to exercise. I would put Rio on par with New Orleans or maybe Miami: stay in the touristy parts and don't show bling. There are far more dangerous cities in Brazil, but we don't talk much about those here in this forum as they are not usually international tourist destinations.
