Whats really going on in Rio?

Bolsonaro slams virus 'hysteria' as Brazil confirms first death President Jair Bolsonaro condemned what he called "hysteria" over the coronavirus pandemic Tuesday, as Brazil confirmed its first death and Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro declared a state of emergency. Flying in the face of mounting global alarm over the pandemic, the far-right president lashed out at containment measures he said would hurt the economy. "People are acting like it's the end of the world," he said in an interview with Radio Tupi. The economy was doing well, but now some governors are taking measures that are really going to hurt it... It's not like having groups of people here and there is the problem. What we need to do is reduce the hysteria." Bolsonaro has sparked controversy with his response to the pandemic. He had already drawn criticism for shaking hands and taking selfies with supporters at a rally Sunday, ignoring the recommendation of his own health ministry, which said he should remain in isolation for two weeks after being exposed to several officials who tested positive for COVID-19. His latest comments came after the South American country confirmed its first COVID-19 fatality: a 62-year-old man with diabetes and high blood pressure who died Monday in Sao Paulo, authorities said. "Unfortunately, this shows how severe this pandemic is, despite what some would like to believe," Sao Paulo Mayor Bruno Covas told CBN radio. - Landmarks closed - The emergency measures in Rio included closing the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and the cable car to Sugarloaf Mountain, two of the city's most famous attractions. Sao Paulo granted city authorities the right to requisition goods needed to contain the virus from businesses if necessary. Rio ordered restaurants to reduce the number of tables by 70 percent to increase distance between patrons, closed stores in shopping malls and halved the number of public transport vehicles in circulation, calling on people to remain home when possible. On Friday, the state had already closed schools, theaters and cinemas for at least 15 days. Rio Governor Wilson Witzel has also ordered people off the city's beaches. The federal government meanwhile announced 147 billion reals (nearly $30 billion) in emergency spending to fend off the economic impact of the pandemic. - 'Crime against public health' - Brazil -- the biggest country in Latin America, with 210 million people -- has confirmed 291 coronavirus cases, concentrated in Sao Paulo and Rio. Health officials are working to convince the population to take the threat seriously, but some Brazilians remain skeptical -- not least Bolsonaro. The man dubbed a "Tropical Trump" has at times caused outrage with his response to the pandemic, both politically and personally. He tested negative for the virus last week, news he announced on Facebook accompanied by a photo of himself making an obscene gesture. But under health ministry protocol, he needs further testing to confirm the result, and is supposed to remain in isolation in the meantime. He took a second test Tuesday and is awaiting the result. Influential Sao Paulo state lawmaker Janaina Paschoal called on him to resign. The president's decision to defy health authorities and participate in Sunday's rallies by his supporters was "a crime against public health," she said. "The president does not seem to be taking the outbreak seriously," newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo said in an editorial. Bolsonaro was unfazed, saying in his radio interview that he would hold a "small party" to celebrate his 65th birthday Saturday, even though health experts have recommended against such gatherings. "Life goes on," he said. Shop sellers wear masks in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, where a state of emergency has been declared over the coronavirus pandemic Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has come under fire for taking selfies with supporters at a rally, even after his own aides recommended he remain in isolation -

Yesterday only 349 people died of covid19 in Italy. In some regions (Bergamo) the local papers are full of obituaries (8 pages !) and the mass blessings of tens of coffins is impressive -

If you want to read smart, synthetic and updated information on virus have a look at Tomas Pueyo daily publications. I follow him since approximately 10 days. It is really amazing. It started only in English with 20 K readers. Now it is above 30 Million readers and it has been translated in 30 languages. Amazing. -

Last week end ABC Bailao was kept open. ABC Bailap is the place in Sampa where young men meet older gentlemen. There are many older people there. They simply ask to avoid going there for people having symptoms (everyone knows now that you can transfer the disease even if you are asymptomatic). They also ask to avoid beijos (kisses) and hand shaking. This attitude was very much criticized on the social networks "It is sad to see the lack of resoect with the public in which most of people are older people. Not to be able to close putting people at risk. Money cannot be more important than the well being of persons" Next week end ABC Bailao will be closed and I guess it will be the same with saunas. -
I have a booking for moreless the same dates in May. I will wait a little bit to see how the situation evolves but I do not think all this will be over in May. I think I will change my airline booking for November/December and book another ticket earlier as soon as the situation is almost normal.

I am not sure that all young people can overcome the virus easily. Of course they can do better than older persons. From European experience, there are many deaths including in the younger population and 50% of people in extensive care units are less than 60 years old. -

This is indeed crazy. I was in Pointe last Saturday and it was not crowded at all. Sunday was my last day in Rio and I did not go to sauna. I am glad to be back home. The perception of virus by garotos is funny. I stopped shaking hands in Pointe last saturday. 2 garotos understood and we only touched our elbows. But when they left, both kissed me on the mouth ... -
Wise decision IMHO

I am glad to see that the flight which should take me back to Europe has taken off tonight from Europe :-))

Pink Flamingo in Rio is going to be closed as from today. It is a much smaller venue than The Week, comparable in size (number of persons present) to saunas 117 or Pointe.

March 15. Walking along the Copabana beach today, I saw what looked like a bloco de rua (even the car with the stage on top was the same as bloco sem saida where samba was excellent). But it was the demonstration of people against Congress, again corruption and for current government : "dia do foda se" (fuck off day) - institutional dialog : fuck off. A plane in the sky alongside the beach was cayying a big poster : "Bikers and Bolsonaro are for Brazil". Multiple tee shirts, cap, etc, often praising Bolsonaro. Many people with masks including many wearing a mask with the colors of brasilian flag showing signs :"even worse than the coronavirus, the extreme left virus, the corruption virus, the left papers virus, ...". Many posters asking militar intervention "ja" (now) : we were sufficiently patient. A big poster "capitao aperte o botao" (captain, press the buton) I prefer not to translate the speech coming from the car.

Lions sauna + Beco do Rato Both are located almost in front of each other. Very different styles though. Lions sauna is still alive and A. whom I met in 117 went dancing in the cage (there is a golden cage above the stage) last Friday. He told me that there were not so many people but it was lively. As indicated in the Lions address just above, Lions is located close to "Beco do Rato". Beco do Rato is a very well known samba place with very good atmosphere, great music. Worth a visit at night if you are fed up with boys.
-
New Meio Mundo I always thought that this sauna had been closed but was informed by a garoto who went there 3 weeks ago that it is still open. Had I known that before, I would have gone on a Tuesday nite to see the live sex show ! (I am a bit fed up of drag queen shows and to see, whatever the club in Rio, always the same strippers). The garoto told me that there were mostly boys from favela who were going there and who would go for 80 R$. A very recent commentary from a Brazilian customer indicated :"very good atmosphere, educated boys, VIP treatment". Not sure that everyone would agree with that ...
-
Yes. Lots of flights are cancelled and the atmosphere in Rio is not fun !
-
Yesterday Health Authorities published a "recommendation" in which travellers coming from foreign countries "must" self quarantine themselves at home during 7 days, even without symptoms.

Last information on Rio de Janeiro In Pointe now. Even though there is a party tonite, the number of customers and garotos is extremely low. With the coronavirus looking like balloons in the ceiling of the bar, some waiters wearing masks, the limited number of boys, the atmosphere is not inviting you to take a boy to a cabin. My regular was busy with a customer and just left. As reported elsewhere, many venues have already been closed this week end : The Week, the Buraco da Lacraia in Lapa, National Teatro, in fact all places where more than 500 persons gather. The small commercial center close to Siqueira Campos station is also closed. I was in front of Cable Car to Sugarloaf this morning and did not have impression that it was in operation. It is clear that all places where people gather are going to be closed sooner or later. In Pointe, they already receives phone call mentioning that they should be ready to close when it will be decided. Restaurants and bars might close also. Without boys, booze and fun, time in Rio will not be fun! If you have a trip planned to Rio in the short term, it is certainly better to cancel it except if you like cities without boys, without booze and without restaurants and bars

I wore masks during Carnaval in Rio at the beginning of the stay but would never have thought that the stay would end up with me wearing medical masks ! Trip is soon over (if I manage to fly back to Europe). First week was constant rain. Last 2 weeks were very sunny. A good trip altogether !

Strange atmosphere in 117 yesterday Friday night. Not so many customers. Many boys. Some of them worried of what can happen with virus and if Sauna will be kept open and if it closes for how long ... G. 2nd biggest dick in 117 is here but since I am already with garotos, he ignores me. I had another sexy and romantic session with A. He is so sweet. When V. , my yesterday' s date, arrives and sees me, a wonderful friendly smile shines on his face and he waves me hello. He is really good looking !

Coronavirus implications in saunas.
pauleiro replied to likeohmygod's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Until today, people in saunas in Rio seemed to ignore the virus, only a small number of persons being tested positive. Now the virus is officially in almost all the states and the number of identified cases increases (200 confirmed - 1500 suspected). People around Bolsonaro who went with him to meet Trump in the US have been diagnosed positive (a Senator, the responsible of communication and the lawyer of Bolsonaro). At present Bolsonaro has been tested negative but will have to perform a second test soon. In SP where most of the identified cases occured, schools are going to be closed progressively next week. Mass gatherings of more than 500 persons are forbiden. Many flights to and from Brazil are cancelled : I was with a garoto in 117 tonite and he told me that a customer who was to arrive from Dallas today had his flight cancelled and cancelled therefore the whole trip. ABC Bailao in SP (place where older gentlemen and youger men meet) is open but informed that this may change following to requests from Administration. They ask their visitors to avoid kissing, hand shaking, ... In 117, the manager passed today among boys and customers to spread an alcoholic gel on everyone's hands. There were less customers today in 117 and a rumor among boys says that the club might be closed soon (only a rumor, nothing certain but likely). -
A smile about Coronavirus (and about fake news about vaccines)

Bolsonaro Tests Positive For COVID 19

This is fake news. On the Brazilian TV right now, they are explaining that he does NOT have Coronavirus -
Thursday at 117 was rather weak. I had appointment with V. who is in 117 since a month only. Very cute face, gorgeous smile, nice body and ass. Good session not worth a repeat but worshipping his body, his firm ass and decent size cock was really good. More romantic than sex session. Good kissing. While I was waiting for V., I chatted with L. with whom I went the previous week. I like his trimmed hairy chest. L. has a very good education level and it is great to exchange with him on various subjects in addition to discussing more private subjects : american elections, situation of Brasil, jair bolsonaro, ... About jair bolsonaro and Macron, the French President, who had an argument in the 2019 summer about the fires in the Amazon, he explained me that there has been and still is a campaign on internet to prove that Macron is the Antechrist with hundreds of videos to sustain the proofs. "O que ? (What ?" I told him. I was not sure to have understood. Back home I checked and indeed internet is full of "proofs" that Macron is the Antechrist ... Macron is called Macron 666 (the number of Devil) and a count of the letters of his full name is 36 and if you add 1+2+...+35+36 you find 666. His birthdate (December 21st) is the day of the year with the longest nite. His education at Jesuits. His work with Rotschild, the powerful Jewish. His wish to create an army of 10 countries in Europe as described in the Bible (Apocalypse). His wish to rule the world, using Amazone as a way to do so ... Some videos containing all this bullshit are well documented and very well done and can certainly convince the many many idiots who looked at them. Do I need to say that I was not convinced ? Lol.

Coronavirus implications in saunas.
pauleiro replied to likeohmygod's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Here we are. This has not happened yet in Brazil but these cancellations of public events and of gatherings are already a reality in some European countries in particular Italy and as a consequence, the saunas are closed (in Italy, in Berlin, ...) and I guess that if they are not closed, frequentation should be very low. I should be back to Brazil in May but will closely check the situation before flying. It is not easy (and not fun) to maintain a social distance of 5ft in a sauna cabin ! -
Diseases (not for hypochondriacs)
pauleiro replied to pauleiro's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
@TomcalI totally understand your point. Of course : My point was not on anal sex with or without condom but was pure information on syphilis so that people can decide in full knowledge. Sucking without condom was not a problem until recent years and the risk of catching syphilis by sucking without condom was extremely low. In 2020 the situation is different : because the number of cases is very high in Brazil, because many boys, even well educated are not aware of the situation and are not tested for syphilis and because the disease can be asymptomatic. Now of course everyone decides for himself. Personnally, I suck and am sucked without condom and I respect the wish of the boy if he wants absolutely to use a condom. And I am tested for syphilis at least once a year. And I never had STDs.
