  1. I’ll be returning to Tallinn in late August after 17 years. Also returning to Kiev and plan to sample Minsk, Latvia, Lithuania with about a week in St Petersburg at the end. Any suggestions would be welcome, although I’m leery of “hobbying” in Minsk and St Petersburg.
  2. Uma Thurman and Erik Roberts look great. I’m now of a certain age, and I’m pretty happy with my looks and am still told that I’m handsome. It takes discipline. One must eat well, work out, avoid drugs and really, really limit alcohol.
  3. Lucky, I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you. I too had a fun time. I took a young friend for the weekend. I was pleased that everyone was so nice to him, as was he! It was fun to see many of the providers “au naturel”.
  4. It’s really disappointing to discover how incompetent so many are.
  5. Sitting at the Amex lounge at MEX waiting for my return flight. Stayed in Condesa. Had great meals at Contramar and Patagonia. I agree that the people are warm and helpful.
  6. Since doing cross-fit, I’ve gained 10 pounds of muscle and dropped waist size from 34 to 32, even 31 with some jeans. I, too, am 5’11.
  7. I’m thinking of it,
  8. Muy interesante! I’m taking a quick 3-day trip to CDMX on Saturday the 20th, staying in La Condesa. It’s a recon visit, to access for further visits.
  9. I usually check out culturetrip.com to find the hip places.
  10. Sounds as if Chile hasn’t changed that much, attitude-wise. I was more into girls when I was there and thought the girls were more attractive than the boys. The upper-classes are pretty arrogant, as I recall. I stayed in Las Condes and Providencia.
  11. I didn’t get the sense that there was pronounced homophobia in either of the two largest cities in the country. I imagine that being openly gay in the countryside would elicit some disapproval, as in most countries. There were plenty of obviously gay people in both cities.
  12. I was ther last summer. I split my time between Sofia and Plovdiv, both of which have outstanding Roman ruins, since Thrace was an imperial province. I loved both places and may go back in September. I want to hike the Rhodope Mountains on the Greek border. I didn’t hire while there, but I did hook up with a very hot Israeli soldier! Lots of Israelis go there since the flights from Tel Aviv to Sofia are super cheap. I really enjoyed mingling with them.
  13. I loved Belgrade. Go to Skadarska for dinner and drinks. Lots of eye candy. If you like architecture, rent a bike and go to Novi Belgrade to see all of the monumental Tito architecture and the Brutalist towers. The Serbs boast that they have the most beautiful women in Europe, but what would I know about that?
  14. I agree that Helsinki is a rather sterile city and I found the Finns to rather aloof. I love Tallinn. If you like blond twinks, it’s a paradise.
  15. As far as religious denominations go, the Episcopal Church is gay-affirming and offers a lovely liturgical service. One Sunday morning a few years ago a provider and I entered an Episcopal cathedral midway through the service and lustily sang the recessional hymn.
  16. I haven’t been to Chile since 1991, right after Pinochet left power. I was with US friends and had a great time. Took the train to Temuco and traveled as far as Puerto Montt. I’m considering a return trip, with perhaps a return visit to BA. Any experience or gay life recommendations for Santiago? I recall that it was a very Catholic and conservative country 28 years ago. I was really surprised when I attended a military parade and the troops were goose-stepping to German marches and wearing Wehrmacht style uniforms!
  17. That sounds so sweet!
  18. Interestingly, I’m seeing a very cute deaf provider soon. He gently asked me if I might have a problem with his deafness and I replied “absolutely not!”.
  19. Welcome.
  20. Breyer is reportedly quite fit.
  21. There’s also a gay AA group whose name I can’t recall atm.
  22. I fly a lot. Lately, I’ve found the TSA people much friendlier and less Soviet. Of course, the historically rude parts of the country still have the rude ones.
  23. I don’t own a tv. Fortunately!
  24. I was skiing last week and met a super cute gay SA boy from Durban. Wish I’d gotten his number!
