I don't watch much television, but get the impression that these mega-trials are great for ratings and guest lawyers. It's almost as if the justice system has morphed into reality tv these days.
North Las Vegas is a no-go zone, but the rest of the city is well-policed. DC is rapidly gentrifying, so its crime rate has fallen a bit. I was amazed at the changes on S Capitol St when I was there last fall.
Not watching tv has a small price--I never know who these people are! I do notice that when some celebrity makes a prejudiced comment, no amount of groveling absolves them. I suspect her disappearance from the airwaves will not cause undue hardship for viewers of these shows <sarcasm>
I remember driving through Versailles, which they pronounce as ver-sales, one day in late April and being struck by the sheer beauty of the bluegrass countryside. A cute blond I used to see ended up living in Lexington.
My favorite city. I'm looking at a trip to Vienna in late September. Maybe driving south to Croatia and then looping back to Vienna via Lake Balaton in Hungary. Any suggestions for Viennese twinks (Weinertwinken?). Also, any recs for Ljubljana or Zagreb would be appreciated.
