To some of you who are debating as to which saunas to go to-- just go to "ALL" of them when you're there and make the most of the experience. I first went to Brazil (Rio de janeiro) in 2002 after getting the "heads up" from what had been posted at www.daddysreviews.com by Trilingual. At the time there were four or five saunas; I went to each one but liked three of that number. All are now defunct except from Club 117 and Point 2002. It should NOT be difficult to decide. Just do a sauna hopping and select the ones to which you felt comfortable and met garotos of choice. Also, remember that many of the garotos might be there during your visit and not when you return another year. Also, remember that the nights vary: one night can be hopping, but when you return again, the place might be "dead as a door bell." Also, remember that the seasons of the year affect attendance at the saunas. I've primarily gone during October, but when I went to Carnaval in 2003, it was summer; Club 117 and Point 2002 were busy most nights. New Meio Mundo had not come into the picture, or perhaps I had not been apprised of its existence.

There are three gay tour guides in Habana whom you can goggle. They claim that they do NOT participate in getting guys or making arrangements, but I have been told differently. I have two hotties on my FB page who are reputable tour guides. One is a superb photographer and is quite hot in his own right. ...don't know if he intercedes either. Luis has a great website and posts great info., tourist related, on his FB page and shares with folks. I had made arrangements for him to take me on his gay tour on a Saturday night, but since I returned on the same day back to the States-- I did NOT use his expertise and services. Check out his website and decide whether or not you want to use him to be your tour guide.,

Thanks guys. I had good coverage for my stay as well as Cuban insurance. I just was NOT in the right mind to proceed and get medical attention for my excruciatingly back pain which I think happened from my sitting in that extremely hard-assed seat on the Hop on-Hop Off bus. I must have been on it for five hours; I never got off until it went to the stop the second time. ...would have braved it, but the tour was to have begun on a Monday carrying me long distances over 6 or more hours. ...did NOT think my back could handle this, for I did NOT know of the transport the tour company would be using! I learned my lessons and thank you fellows for chiming in on this aspect. ...did NOT WANT TO HIjack this thread in my writing about insurance but thought I'd clarify!

What's the name of the apartment? I'd like to check it out on both of your aforementioned sites. Muito obrigado! -
Not about sex: pantanal and bonito

Check to see if www.booking.com has listings for lodging. When I visited Parati/Paraty a few years back-- I used this website for my pousada stay, one that we truly enjoyed. -
Another alternative is to rent an apartment via www.airbnb.com where you're presumably freer and providing the owner has specified "Do's and Don'ts" in her/his initial ad. Check it out! Last March (2017) I stayed in a wonderful casa, but I also had rented an apartment for play. Unfortunately, because I encountered a medical issue-- I aborted the latter and returned home. ...did not contact the apartment owners (of which I felt rather bad), but to compensate for my unannounced cancellation, they got their money and an email from me when I was back in the States for a few days. If I were to do this again, I would have seen a physician while in Habana. Unfortunately, at the time, the professional guide who I was to meet on a Monday preceding my tour, did not advise me to consult with a Cuban physician. It cost me, for I was to have seen one within 72 hours for health concerns. ...had not read my insurance policy of some 48 pages closely.

Muito obrigado! Although your reports were long and detailed, I truly appreciated reading about your first adventures and insights. I also appreciated your initial writing as well. Again, thanks! -
Sauna Thermas Barcelona was Amazing tonight.
axiom2001 replied to JAYBLK's topic in European Men and Destinations
I have been encouraged to retry this sauna when I visit Barcelona later this year. I'm still giving it a lot of thought and trying to erase my not-so-good experience at this place when i visited a few years back. [...wore my "sauna uniform" which I started wearing during my last two visits in Rio. ...was told to wear that friggin' skimpy towel but refused-- dressed--and left. ...time and experience lost!] My experience is posted here. -
When I read this post-- what you wrote entered my thoughts. I'd be quite leery in finding any connections in this country. ...was in St. Petersburg and Moscow in 1977 as well as in 1990. While in St. Pete's the second time, two gorgeous young men were outside of a parked auto right in front of our apartment (I had a roommate on this tour while living in the apt. for a week). One of these guys looked like Rob Lowe (who I found to be a gorgeous creature in his earlier years). I'd really wanted to connect inside of the apt. with both of these Russian beauties but was quite afraid in terms of the repercussions I thought I'd face. Both guys spoke with my friend and me, and I think they'd wanted to get with us-- but none of us initiated it.

Yes, I love Brasil but have found Cuba to be "interesting" as well. Try to enjoy some of the country's cultural components as well as its male population!

A Newbie's First Time in Brazil
axiom2001 replied to numazu's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Although you warned us at the beginning about the length of your thread-- I did not mind at all, for I know how to have certain sentences and paragraphs pop out for me to read. I'm enjoying your "read," for it is clearly and intelligently written. ...shall return within a few days to continue! Are you not in Rio de janeiro during CARNAVAL? -
A Newbie's First Time in Brazil
axiom2001 replied to numazu's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Sao Paulo is supposedly the city in Brasil that has the largest population of Japanese outside of the country (Japan) itself. There is a "Japantown" there; I was disappointed when I visited with Danilo some 14 years ago. Danilo was a mere 18 years of age. -
...went to CARNAVAL in 2003, fifteen long years ago. At the time in Rio, there were four or five saunas. Pointe 202 hadn't been too long in opening; Meio Mundo was not around then either; Club 117 was rockin' each time that I went. So, in spite of this being a very special time, the guys were present and quite willing to meet and play! One night my good friend, who I took with me to Rio, spent an hour+ with a garoto from Bahia. Apparently, these two had a supreme time in the cabine, for they did overspend their designated time. Fortunately, he did not have to pay additional money. You should NOT have any difficulty! Enjoy! [I had one hell of a time being in my favorite city of the world during that time. Hope I'll still be in relatively good health to re-experience CARNAVAL one of these years. It's a great time to be in "Mother Brasil" and in the "Marvelous City."]

It's 1.28.18: I managed to see "Call Me..." some 4 hours ago and truly liked this film. ...dynamic story line and beautifully portrayed. ...might go to another theater and watch again, for I personally did not like the room where it is currently showing. ...shown in our art theater-- but it's in the smallest space. My legs could not spread out; thus my knees ached a bit once it ended.

Brazil visa can now be obtained on line -
axiom2001 replied to mvan1's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Does the U.S. require Brazilians to have visas? I think it does; thus reciprocity comes into play. Also, I think we still have too many persons in this country thinking that Brazil is a violent country, or Rio de Janeiro at least. From 2002 until 2011, I traveled to Brazil and loved as I still do. When I would tell folks that I was traveling there, inevitably I would to hear: "...is it dangerous?" I attempted to dispel their unwarranted fears by talking to them about traveling to large cities in this country that have a reputation (warranted or not) about violence. But, in any case, it would be great if more folks from this country visited my favorite country and city! ...hope to return one of these days but right now I am concentrating in other travels. -
It's Sunday, January 21, 2018, and a couple of hours ago, I returned home after viewing and thoroughly enjoying this film. I saw similarities between some of the content in this film and the current political climate of the day. It's frightening all around, but I do have have hope and a little optimism! [Thanks, Lucky, for posting!]

Lucky, I smiled "big time" during and after the read! But as I recall, a while back, TomCal wrote that "he was not the marrying type." ...can't remember if he posted it here, or wrote it in an email to me!

This question has been asked and debated so many times here. I'd suggest that you check out this info. via the most recent posts which are in the archives. For the longest time, about a decade, the base fee was R$50; then it advanced to R$75/80. Now, from my having read previous fee reports, the base fee is R$100 which is NOT much in dollars, and from what others have posted in the past, an overnight can range from R$150 to R$250. I'd advise that you know the exchange rate, R$ vs US dollars as well. I write this because R$100 is not that much money; thus why bargain? I also write that because when the fee was R$50 and upwards-- I did NOT spend time trying to get the guy to lower his price, for I knew the going rate based on guidance I'd gotten from guys at that time who wrote about their trips at www.daddysreviews.com where the sauna scene in Brasil was initially introduced and written about for many a year as well as til this day!

Sauna Thermas Barcelona was Amazing tonight.
axiom2001 replied to JAYBLK's topic in European Men and Destinations
...enjoyed your read and appreciated your mentioning the restaurants which you visited as well as the cultural components which you and friends explored. I hope to be in BCN in September and will try to go to some of the eateries to which you referred in your report. Muchas gracias + -
...always had the "sizzling hots" for Queen. To me he was ravishingly-handsome and very, very sexy!
-
Redxs, you're asking quite a bit here, but I'll give you my limited take on this. There's always the Thermas in Barcelona. Although my one experience there was not the best, others here, as well as a good friend of mine, have fared much better. My experience had NOTHING to do with the guys but with management. But at any rate, others can chime in regarding this venue in BCN, a city that I love. There's also the hot scenes in Berlin and Munich, but you will have to do the research. Read what has already been posted here (live) as well as what's in the "archives." I had a very hot escort in Budapest about four years ago. He, at the time, advertised at http://rentmen.com or perhaps at the now defunct rentboy. The time with him still resonates with me. Sorry, can't remember his name. Check out: www.gaycities.com and some other gay-specific webs. In many cases the info. that's posted is worthwhile.

Does there always have to be a "tit-for-tat" when opinions and experiences differ? Yes, T..., I read all of your reports with much interest and appreciated the time that you took to share and/or gloat, but please begin to read and share and NOT feel compelled to respond. Remember "everyone's experiences" or expectations or perceptions are "NOT" the same. That goes for sex with escorts, too. One man's hot time can be one hell of an abysmal of a time of another with the same escort. Continue to enjoy life and have a wonderful and refreshing 2018.

Adventures in Rio...New Years edition
axiom2001 replied to Badboy81's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Many of the sauna guys move on; they could be there one year but not during the next time that one visits Rio and/or other cities. Many first names are similar, too, so asking for names is somewhat futile unless the guy [garoto] is a "mainstay!" -
Although I have not used their services for rooms or apartments, try checking http://misterbandb.com, the supposedly largest gay rental agency in the world. A friend used and was pleased; he rented a room. I'm checking out apartments in Barcelona for the autumn of 2018 through them along with my search in http://www.booking.com and http://www.airbnb.com.
