I like this fabulous European styled and influenced city; ...have been there five times since 2005; the last was in 2011. My traveling partner and friend went to Fragata; I liked the atmosphere there more than that at Lagoa! But, if I were to return to Sao Paulo, I'd go to both to see if there are anymore distinct differences besides the "boys" who are there for recreation!!!

When you wrote about those stairs in Lapa leading upwards to Santa Teresa, I picked up my framed photograph of Antonio, my guide, and looked at him sitting on them. This was truly a momentous time for me when I was in Rio de janeiro.
