Tarte is going to South America
axiom2001 replied to Tartegogo's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
That's unfortunate, for I really enjoyed reading about your solo visit to these various countries/cites and how you related to the people, the culture, and the "boys" in general. Apparently, you and your husband understand each other; thus he was willing for you to travel alone to "Mother Brazil" and to Argentina. From what you wrote and shared-- you'll have many days and weeks and perhaps months to "bask in the afterglows." -
Havana trip November 2017
axiom2001 replied to torogen's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Although you asked the original poster these questions, I thought I'd chime in since I've visited Cuba on three occasions, each different yet, in ways, incomplete. Havana (Cuba) is quite safe as has been reported in books, at websites, and from experience. Go to www.TripAdvisor.com and do a "Things to See" and "Things to Do." You'll be amazed at what you find. Goggle gay tour guides in Cuba. Two or three will come up; two have websites. No hotel allows one to have male or female companions. They're strict on this. My advice would be to rent a room in a casa particular operated by a gay tenant or that's gay friendly. I'll get back to you with website and other specifics. ...will even share an e address of a man who I have not met but who rents rooms and obtains guys. I know of him from an acquaintance who's used his facilities. ...will return here within a few days; right now I am getting ready to drive to San Francisco! I have lots of material which i'll share later at this site. ...right now I am busy trying to get ready to drive to San Francisco.] By next Monday I hope to return to your queries and cite specifics for you to use. Tarte is going to South America

Remember that the majority of the population in Argentina is of the lighter hue. ...read your few sentences that were related to Andy and immediately went to his ad. ...found him to be gorgeous in his pics and eagerly awaited what you'd written about your time with him. ...too bad that you felt compelled to cancel because of his lateness, but remember "time" was discussed previously by you and others and that "lateness" prevails on the part of some in other cultures. ...wish you had waited to see if he were to show up at 11:00P and if NOT--cancel, but after all, it was your call, and I am NOT judging or anything. This party was just quite interested in expanding his read of your time that you'd had with your first guy while in Argentina.] [One year I had an appointment with an escort in San Francisco. He was later than promised; when I rang him he stated that he was at dinner with friends and would arrive at another time; I agreed. He didn't show but arrived much later. When I opened the door- he eagerly entered, removed his gloves, etc., for he rode a big, hot motorcycle. I firmly told him that our session was off, for he was way too late. Afterwards, I felt good in having done what I did, for although he was a hot hunk and I'd really wanted him sexually, I did not appreciate his being that late. I can feel what you perhaps went through in regard to Andy's lateness, but in retrospect reflected upon the afterglows that you have/had in conjunction with the wonderful times that you'd had with Bruno. ...can't wait to read about your time on Day 2 in Montevideo!!!!! -

Tarte-- I truly enjoyed your recollecting the experiences that you had when in Rio as well as Porte Alegre. From what you wrote-- you apparently had a stupendous and meaningful time. Muito Obigado Now for you- it's off to the lands where Espanol reigns supreme. Enjoy! [Have been to Buenos Aires 4x's and to a small town or three but never to Montevideo]. Perhaps one of these days! -
Problems with Planet Romeo
axiom2001 replied to tassojunior's topic in European Men and Destinations
Peter803, I, too, experienced the same problem during this past weekend. I sent a message to the providers but have not gone back to see if I received a response from them. I want escorts internationally, not what I'm sent after clicking on "Escorts." -
Check brokers to see if they do economy along with business and first class. Do a google check: cheap/inexpensive coach fares to Rio de janeiro or to wherever you're traveling in that country. Because Rio is a long distance from where I am, California, I have to fly business class. A few weeks back- I noted the fare to be under $1000. Remember you'll be flying during the high season since it'll be summer there.

When an escort in Europe or in the United States quote his price, do you try to bargain ("haggle)? R$100 is very low. Remember many of the guys whom you meet in the saunas or bars or elsewhere are fucking and sucking or getting plowed,m etc. to earn money to initially support or to complement their earnings. Also, remember these guys have feelings, too. If a straight guy is uncomfortable being in your company for hire and is out with you at a restaurant, accept it and try NOT to make too much out of it. Are you there to make friends for life, or to get laid? I've always treated escorts with the utmost respect from all angles and desire the same in return. Lastly, I KNOW very LITTLE Brasilian Portuguese, a beautiful but rather difficult language to learn, especially at my current age. So with the language barrier-- again, try to make do and laugh when you're having difficulty. I know you would prefer to converse, but if it's difficult as it apparently seemed to have been as it was with me-- enjoy the guy's company in bed-- treat respectfully, and try not to make too much out of it. I was reluctant to post, but what I read really bothered me personally. Treat others as you wish to be treated. I've been there and understand! -

I've always contended that we should pay the going rate, and if the service is stellar-- a nice tip is in order. One's knowing the exchange rate is helpful as well. R$100-- R$150- and R$200 seems like a lot, but it is NOT in comparison in anyway to dollars. That is why I cringe when I read about one's willingness to bargain in his thinking that he's forking out a lot of money. When I first went to Brazil in 2002, the first time, the base fee was R$50. In 2011 it was R$70 or R$80. A few times I gave two guys R$100, but that was rare. likeohmygod--your post was relevant! Muito obrigado! -
Havana trip November 2017
axiom2001 replied to torogen's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Torogen, I, too, truly enjoyed reading your post. ...have been to Cuba three times, the most recent was last March. ...liked my trips but still have yet to spend the time and explore as I'd yearned ever since my most wonderful travel there in 2015, which at that time I was with a People-to-People, but it was much more enriching and beneficial than what you cited as an aside. ...had planned to go in March 2018, but have since changed my plans. To me I could give a "rat's fuck" to #45's policies. If I do join a tour group-- I still plan to travel independently to get there, explore, then join my folks. Remember Cuba is a very poor country due to that Draconian embargo which the US imposed some 50+ years ago. In March I took some goods to give to the young man who had volunteered to be my guide. He was an amigo of a Brit acquaintance of mine. Well, as it turned out, my second bag with the goods (which was unlocked) never appeared, so after an hour of meandering and searching-- I left the airport with my comely driver who transported me to my rented casa particular, a very welcoming and well-situated lodging. I spent three days but left suddenly on day 4, for I woke up with the most horrendous back ache. I had problems bending, etc. Because I was to be traveling for long hours outside of Habana-- I did not want to chance it, so I cancelled. I was to have been in the country for 25 days. The sunny Saturday that I decided to leave, my impending guide texted me; I can't text, nor can I read or speak Espanol, so I asked the woman from the company who was to escort me to the airport to read it; she did but in a limited way; she too spoke limited English. To cut to the chase-- I'd promised him the goods and had a nice fee (of my chosing) to give the amateur guide. Since he was supposedly in dire need of them, telling me that toiletries are expensive to the locals, I sent what he had asked plus a very good gratuity for his services which I never directly received. I sent via his cousin who lives in Miami who in turn posted to him. It was an expensive undertaking, but I sympathized with him. Occasionally, he posts on Facebook, but since my google doesn't translate my Espanol component, or I don't know how to do it-- I don't know what he's written. I do know that he's asked for money in order to pay for his cell services; I've candidly stated that I am on a retiree's income and can only help my family. He's stopped, and that I am grateful. Well, I don't want to use anymore of your space or divert from it--so I'll stop. Again, thanks for your insightful recapturing of some of your experience. Next time you might want to take some bars of soap, condoms, toothbrushes, shaving cream if easy to pack. The guys would appreciate receiving, for soap is apparently hard to come by or unnecessarily expensive. [When I was with the P-to-P, many of us brought items to give to institutions. I brought loads of condoms and lube and teas and bottles of Hershey syrup and gave to the owner of Cafe Libro, an operation managed by an American woman and her Cuban husband. This was an experience I shall forever remember as well. Check out on TripAdvisor and or on Facebook. Fin -
I truly enjoyed my visit to Foz do Iguassu and the surrounding areas. ...one of the most visually stimulating trips that I've taken during my days of travel. But, if one goes, it should be with a friend or companion or with a couple of amigos. Unfortunately, that part was the only downer for me, for I went alone and did tours of the falls with guides. My evenings were not as great as I'd hope. But, if I manage to return, I do hope to have someone enjoy along with me. BTW-- I loved the falls on both sides, stayed at the hotel on the Brazilian side which is the only one in the park per se. ...one hell of a superb property all around.

Tartegogo- I just read your post from beginning to end and enjoyed immensely. If you have time-- purchase XL condoms and take with you for the guys in Rio de janeiro as well as in Buenos Aires: two of my very favorite cities to which I've traveled 11x's/4X's respectively. ...have used the services of the guys from www.soytuyo.com as well as from www.ratonesonline.com. Enjoyed immensely. If you speak Espanol-- the better for you price wise in BsAs. Bon voyage and please report in depth upon your return. Don't feel obligated to post while you're enjoying and experiencing! -
Would it had been much more appropriate for one to have generated a SEPARATE thread about one's making advance plans for his final arrangements? I think so! Lurker's death has affected us all in some way or another; thus this thread should only have related to him NO responses need to be made here; leave my comments as they are and begin a separate thread from this spot on. This would be most appreciated. I WROTE this for ALL to lend some thought to what I wrote regarding the placement of your comments!

It's Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:05A.M. in California. I read the title in the forward and thought it was a joke regarding Lurkerspeak's passing. ...went to www.gaythailand.com to read his previous posts about his first visit to "The Land of Smiles" and discovered that the "RIP..." was indeed real. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Lurker in person-- I felt akin based on his posts here regarding Brasil and other posts. I am saddened, especially after reading about his anticipated visit to Thailand and the preparations that he had made. His death is oh so, so, so friggin' sad. We never know when or how we are going to leave this earth. Death is a mystery; it's so damn scary, too! May this gentleman rest in eternal peace. He will be missed.

I have yet to travel to Colombia, but my suggestion to you is: ...just go and enjoy and do your own comparisons since many of the guys who've posted in this forum seemingly have a "type." I happen NOT to be one of them: I like all men and go from there.

New Cuba Travel Restrictions Nov 8 2017

I am highly opposed to the newest restrictions as well as the former ones prior to former President Obama's lifting of some. Here are two other relevant websites to consult. www.travelskills.com/2017/11/08/travel-restrictions-cuba/ www.treasury.gov/.../Documents/guidance-cuba-travel.pdf [I typed correctly; ...hope they come up with just a click. If not, type in your own browser.] -

Lurkerspeaks-- you should be quite all right traveling this distance in business class. The first time that I flew to Thailand (on a gay tour)-- I flew coach and was miserable going. On my way back, I intentionally and deliberately placed myself in coach. One of the flight attendants was aghast and gave me hell, but I ignored her. Lucky for me her supervisor interceded and allowed me to remain. The downside, after which I'd later discovered, was that I was in the Business Smoking area. When the plane landed, Sam, my tour director came back to me and relayed that I should have waited doing what I'd done because he could have gotten me into first class where he was flying. [Sam had been doing these tours for a while, and I presume that he had connections.] But at any rate-- surely take in all that you can, culturally and otherwise. Thailand and the Thais are my favorite along with Brasilians. I've managed to travel there on three occasions and hope that I'd be able to do so in the future as well. Bon voyage
