Further, I posted this: During campaigning the 59-year-old faced uproar over comments made in a 1999 book where he described homosexuality as evil and the Roman Catholic church as demonic. (bbc.com Oct.31, 2016) And, from thebubble.com: In a video from 2012 that has since been deleted, Crivella preached to his congregation that gay people deserved compassion. Sounds like an unobjectionable principle until he explains why: homosexuality is a result of suffering in the womb, specifically the kind of suffering that results from unsuccessful abortions. Crivella went on to compare their suffering to that of children born into poverty in favelas who, like gay children, are born into desperation after their mothers have tried to abort them.

Moving the comments about the mayor from another thread to one dedicated to the subject is a good idea, lomg. So here's the first I posted on it: This news, from London's The Guardian, is no comfort to gay sauna lovers: An evangelical bishop has been elected mayor of Rio de Janeiro, as rightwing candidates across Brazil strengthened their influence at the expense of a decimated Workers’ party. Despite his past condemnation of Catholics and homosexuals, Marcelo Crivella of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God won control of the city in a second round of municipal elections that underscored the rise of religious conservatism and the demise of the leftwing party that has dominated national politics for more than a decade. * I don't know how much power a Rio mayor has, but the very election signals desire to return to more conservative roots with a rabidly anti-gay mayor.

Brazil Saunas: Their Days Are Numbered

Sorry, bobbalino, the site is exceptionally off today. I meant to reply to tomcal's statement: "The mayor who i believe has been in office since 2009 is not a threat to the gay life stlye.. " Now, tomcal, surely you don't think that the London Guardian is posting 7 year old stories? The election is being reported in today's news. And no problem for gays? You say that because...? A Japanese woman farted during her surgery. The gas came into contact with a laser, and the event turned into a pretty hot date for all. No word on whether Adam Smith was present, unless that name in Japanese is Asahi Shimbun. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/patient-burned-mid-surgery-explosion-laser-ignites-fart-article-1.2852543 The event is not as rare as would seem:

Comey has a ten year term. I doubt he can be fired. He could, however, resign after disgracing himself.

On both occasions, Comey was out of line. The FBI has a policy of not speaking of existing investigations or explaining why they didn't file charges. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/james-comey-fails-to-follow-justice-department-rules-yet-again/2016/10/29/3a2fad58-9ddd-11e6-b3c9-f662adaa0048_story.html?hpid=hp_no-name_opinion-card-d%3Ahomepage%2Fstory&utm_term=.601e8ce7b640

FBI Director James Comey, once thought to be a pillar of integrity for standing up to Attorney General John Ashcroft, has sent a letter to Republicans in Congress revealing that he is now conducting additional investigation into the Hillary Clinton email matter. His speech to the public announcing the results of the earlier Clinton investigation were so inconsistent with the FBI's policies over decades, that to see him now releasing information that the public has no ability to evaluate just 11 days before the election is no doubt the most irresponsible act ever committed by an FBI Director. Take that, J. Edgar! Normally, the FBI never discusses their pending investigations, or comments when an investigation is closed without charges. Comey his violated both principles, clearly in an effort to benefit his fellow Republicans next month. The only thing more reprehensible was the Supreme Court's decision to intervene in an election with Bush. v. Gore.

Brazil Saunas: Their Days Are Numbered
Lucky replied to Lucky's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
My favorite at the Gaiety was Anthony, also known as Chico, a Latino from San Diego. He danced his heart out, believing that the customers deserved his best. And, as is now famously said, "believe me" he gave just as good in bed. He usually came into town with Tino Lopez, another Latino, who actually had to ask me if he was ever going to get a chance with me since I hired Anthony so often. I did hire Tino, but once was enough. -
Brazil Saunas: Their Days Are Numbered

My first visit to the Gaiety was in 1983. I was amazed. It didn't take long before I hired someone. Prices were under$100 in those days. I think the most shocking thing that happened there for me was turning down Joey Stefano. I once lusted after him, but when he tried to entice me there he was so stoned I knew it wouldn't be fun. Stella's was a masterful people watching place. You could sit back and see all of the subtle signs of cruising, yet ostensibly guys were just drinking and playing pool. Some really hot Latinos there. I met Tomcal at Stella's years ago. He first tried to take my seat, then he tried to take my virginity! (Believe the second part at your own risk!) -
The NY Times article details the discovery that HIV came to New York in 1971, then moved to San Francisco by 1976, far earlier than previously thought. "Patient Zero," long blamed for bringing the virus to the US, is innocent! http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/27/health/hiv-patient-zero-genetic-analysis.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=second-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 INNOCENT!

Oz, I am using Firefox. However, just now I had to sign in, so maybe the problem is over. Adam, for me, signing in is one click since my user name and password are remembered.

Lately I have noticed that no matter how careful I am to sign out, the next time I visit the site I am already signed in. The words SIgnesd out actually appear, but they don't seem to mean anything. I am signing out now at 111:24 EDT on Monday...

Brazil Saunas: Their Days Are Numbered
Lucky replied to Lucky's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Tomcal has at least opened the topic for an interesting discussion. That we cannot go to Brazil as often as we like makes many of us hang on his trip reports. So at least we might have those for the next couple of years. And he's got a sauna owner staying with him to add to the discussion. Great! -
It would be good to listen this advice from out long-time Brazil expert Tomcal: If you have been waiting for a long time to visit Brazil i would do it now!! I do not think personally that the sauna scene will last more then a couple more years! One example that Tomcal cites is the fact that the megatropolis So Paolo has only two saunas with garotos, and they both have their slow nights. With the decline in the Brazilian economy, many locals will find themselves with insufficient funds to keep visiting the saunas as often as they wish. Locals are the mainstay of the sauna, not we tourists. SO I call attention to what Tomcal said in another post lest it get lost. Now is the time to visit Brazil for their gay saunas.

With his attempt to explain his upcoming election loss as a result of rigging, The Donald concedes he will lose, but he intends to take down as much of America as he can. He is urging his followers to watch certain black precincts for voter fraud, but there is already a system in place to do that. What he really wants to do is intimidate Hispanic and black voters from even going to the polls. We have never had a candidate who was willing to go down in flames and take America with him. He claims the media is to blame for his loss, but as far as I can see, he is the one on TV all of the time. Reporters cannot get enough of him. I am sure he is going to lose in three weeks, but will America lose too, such so he doesn't have to admit defeat? Tonight's debate should be a doozy!

Sao Paulo: Hotel recommendations
Lucky replied to PopeFrancis's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Surely, Pope Francis, a local rectory would find you a nice place to stay for free. They might even tell you the latest on where to cruise! -

Okay, it's probably just me, but I would consider the news from the OP to be bad news. So, what does it mean when someone gives that thread a "like?" -
Then again, tomcal, you are superman! Super fucker, super guy,and super immune!

Rentboy.com case has come down to this charge
Lucky replied to TownsendPLocke's topic in The Beer Bar
Is that ten MILLION dollars? That's an incredibly high fine to stick to an individual versus a rich corporation. Okay, I looked at the article and it says he waives his right to appeal any fine of ten million or less. So, it could be less. What's the point of imposing a fine that a guy can't pay? -
Nice edit! I knew I should have quoted you!
