  1. Well, Conway, may I assume that you are out of the closet in your middle American town? Without the protection of the law, many would be afraid to come out. So if they don't, middle America never gets to meet them.
  2. Once I hired an escort in New york for an in-call. He gave me his address and said that there was no bell, so I should meet him out front. Turns out that I was meeting him at an SRO, or single room occupancy building. The tacky part was the walk up the stairs and down the hall to the room he was using. The place was dark and creepy. A number of suspicious characters lurked the hallways, all of them gawking a clean cut me going to a room with a guy. Once in the room, it wasn't so bad. It was tiny, but clean. We did the deed, probably in short order as I worried about the thin walls and who outside the door, and I then had to make that return out of the building, but accompanied by the escort. The gawkers all kept looking at me, and I didn't know what they were thinking- probably that I was buying drugs or having hooker sex. (But no drugs!) I think one visit to an SRO was enough for me. As for the escort, I couldn't even tell you what he looked like, it was that special!
  3. I mistakenly posted about this in the Tuesday Election thread, so pardon me. The NY Times thinks this vote may make judges shy on future rulings: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/04/us/politics/04judges.html?hp

    Weather

The only FF ticket available, and it's a good schedule except for the coach part, is the end of January, beginning of February. Coming from the desert, humidity is my enemy. I usually sweat a few pounds off in visiting Thailand. My preferred time to go is right after Christmas, but airfares are high then and no FF tickets available at decent mileage. I once stayed in Bangkok the first week of March and for a couple of days it was unbearably hot. So, I ask the Thailand regulars: Does the weather get much hotter at the end of January than in the holiday period?
  5. It was so nice to go to the stripper bars in New York and not smell cigarette smoke. Now San Francisco has taken things a step further: From SFGate.com: Smoking in SF restaurant patios snuffed out Brant Ward/The Chronicle Don't even think about it It can be hard keeping track of all the laws passed at City Hall and how they'll affect your behavior, but we at City Insider are here to help. It is now officially illegal to smoke in any outdoor seating of any restaurant in San Francisco. Think back patios, sidewalk tables and the like. The law, part of anti-smoking legislation sponsored by Supervisor Eric Mar and passed by the Board of Supervisors in March, has just gone into effect within the past few days. Restaurants are now being required to post signs at every entrance stating "Smoking only 1) at the curb or 2) if no curb, at least 15 ft. from exits, entrances, operable windows and vents." And, the sign must include "the international 'no smoking' symbol, consisting of a pictorial representation of a burning cigarette enclosed in a circle, with a diameter of at least three inches, with a bar across it." Seriously. Failure to comply could cost restaurant owners $500 per citation and, ultimately, a referral to the City Attorney's office. The Golden Gate Restaurant Association has had its, yes, beefs with City Hall before - but not this time. Kevin Westlye, director of the association, said the group backed the legislation once wording about restaurant owners having to police people - even non-customers - smoking on the sidewalks out front was eliminated. In general, restaurant owners were supportive of restricting second hand smoke for their employees and customers, he said. Westlye said the biggest adjustment may be for European and Asian tourists, "many of whom still like to smoke." And for groups that rent out entire restaurants for banquets and find they cannot smoke a celebratory cigar outside. "Technically, that has become illegal," Westlye said. "That's a larger adjustment than the single table wanting to smoke on the patio." Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/cityinsider/detail?entry_id=76019&tsp=1#ixzz14G8Zflqc
  6. The three Iowa State Supreme Court judges who were up for confirmation for another term were removed from office after they voted to legalize gay marriage. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/03/us/politics/03judges.html?_r=1&ref=politics
  7. Epi,welcome to the forums and thanks for the report. My favorite guy on Cam4.com is from Colombia, and I would love to meet him and his friends, unlikely as the prospect is.
  8. Thanks for the report. I enjoyed reading it.
  9. I don't think a big Mac in the US costs $6. The concept of using the Big Mac as a price index is not new: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Mac_Index
  10. Surely this thread belongs in the Schitt Can forum!
  11. Whatever the record, only three forums have been updated today. A very slow weekend! It's get tiring posting stuff that is then ignored.
  12. Um, thanks lurker! Nice to know that you are thinking of me. Back to the subject of killers, it turns out that porn star Jason Creed is a killer: http://www.towleroad.com/2010/10/gay-porn-actor-arrested-for-choking-dog.html

    OMG YIKES

...and here I was worried that you had shitcanned it!
  16. Wait a minute, Four Aces. I think killers should be allowed here on a case by case basis. One never knows. A killer could have done so with good reason, in self defense, or in service to his country. And who among us has not killed a bug?
  17. I agree. It's an incredibly bad idea.

Condolences to CharliePS, who was a'rootin for the Phillies. Now the only reason for me to watch the Series is to see more of Buster Posey, but frankly, I think I will find better things to do.

  21. Self-sensitive reflection is what keeps us going here! I have never used twitter, but if you get this off the ground, what choice will I have?
  22. Did Meg Whitman influence the authorities not to prosecute her son for rape? Or am I being harsh on her? http://gawker.com/5669754/the-rape-accusation-against-meg-whitmans-son-that-got-hushed-up And more: http://gawker.com/5669869/what-is-wrong-with-meg-whitmans-kids A sample: Griff's legal troubles continued even after the rape accusation. Shortly after the Princeton rape incident, Griff was back home in California when he was arrested for breaking a woman's ankle during a brawl at a bar. He was released after his mother posted $25,000 in bail and the charges were eventually dismissed. A political newcomer, Meg Whitman credits her late political awakening (she didn't register to vote until seven years ago) to her busy schedule: She was "focused on raising a family." And yet her two adult sons have been absent from her campaign, perhaps because both boys have faced their share of scandals. (Most recently, Griff's younger brother Will got into an altercation with a Princeton professor.) Since Meg lacks a political track record, many have looked to her tenure as CEO of Ebay to understand how she handles power. (Not always nonviolently, it seems: an eBay employee once accused Whitman of shoving her in a meeting.) The decision by Princeton officials to permit the son of one of its most prominent donors to remain in school following such serious allegations may raise questions about her influence at Princeton University, too. The family:
  23. Well, duh, their is a twist here I was unaware of. The brother supposedly involved in narcotics is a prosecutor. Shouldn't he know better, without needing to be tipped off? And it looks like people were lining up to tip him off too, detectives included. they aren't family! http://www.courier-journal.com/article/2010310230027 Actually, it gets worse. The brother who was tipped off was given two days to clean up his house before it was searched, and he lied under oath in testimony on the subject. And, speaking of family, it appears that it was his ex-wife who dropped the dime on him!
  24. My twittermeter went haywire!
