The words weren't said in the confines of a clubby male locker room, nor were they embodied in a thread on a message board appealing to gay men who hire escorts. Rather, they were said in a very public forum, and involved the head of New Hampshire's Republican legislature and a very important Catholic bishop: A top Republican in New Hampshire on Friday called Bishop John B. McCormack of Manchester a “pedophile pimp” on his Facebook page. The Republican, State Representative D. J. Bettencourt, the House majority leader, was responding to criticism from Bishop McCormack that state budget cuts would hurt the most vulnerable members of society. “Would the bishop like to discuss his history of protecting the ‘vulnerable?’ ” Mr. Bettencourt, a practicing Roman Catholic, wrote. “This man is a pedophile pimp who should have been led away from the State House in handcuffs with a raincoat over his head in disgrace. He has absolutely no moral credibility to lecture anyone.” More of the story at http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/02/us/02bishop.html?_r=1&ref=politics

Daddy's Deleted Comment from Year of the Bunny Thread
Lucky replied to TampaYankee's topic in The Sandbox
For the first time ever on the internets, I am posting a picture of me COMPLETELY nude and full frontal. Please do NOT pass it on: -
Lesbians joke about cutting off mens' penises, but I have never felt the need to hold tightly in their presence. I do think the zipper has a way of stating things in the extreme, but I imagine he would be kind to any woman who was in need of his help or courtesy. That's the bottom line.

There is another movement like this, it's all about not posting for several days as a way of supporting those whose rights have been silenced. Try it!! I'll let you know when the time is up!

Today I saw a group of the women here for the party, and they were so joyful to be together and having fun with their friends in a warm and accepting environment. It's the same spirit that you see at many gay events, where the sense of togetherness prevails. That said, I think jokes are okay too. I don't see the above as being mean-spirited. One thing we know is that lesbians will stand for us when it counts, and the reverse is true too.

Daddy's Deleted Comment from Year of the Bunny Thread

You seem to have the right idea on what might work. -
After the wildly successful Palm Springs Weekend, drawing hordes of escort-hiring men and their young hip-attachments, lesbians will this weekend attempt to compete with an event of their own. So what is their draw? Golf. Yes, golf. Apparently lesbians like to golf. They don't have little balls of their own to play with, so they use others' little balls. Thousands of ball-less humans will descend upon Palm Springs Regional Airport this weekend, making it a good time to visit New York. Once these women have gone back to Buffalo or wherever they came from, then hordes of drug-loving young gay men will arrive for the Palm Springs White Party the following Weekend. Temperatures are expected to be near 100 today. http://www.mydesert.com/article/20110331/LIFESTYLES0108/103310310/Dinah-Shore-Weekend-Organizers-look-forward-see-party-adapting-changing-scene (Word is that Jesus himself will be arriving on the weekend following the White Party. Stay tuned.)

flguy, thank you for your considered reply to this thread. In addition to your comments, friends have suggested to me privately that I should have just stayed out of this thread, and, upon reflection, I agree with them. At the time of the event, we took the high road. At Saturday's dinner, I was the MC. I welcomed Daddy to the event, and, during the course of the event, folks also made him feel welcomed. It was my intent that everyone have a good time. I recognize that if it were not for the message centers, there would be no posters to invite to the event. The argument between myself and Daddy is just that. I could not understand why he would both want me off of his message center and yet want to come to the event that I founded and co-hosted. But once he was there it was incumbent upon me and others to make him feel welcome. I think we did that. Yet since then other threads and comments have been made. Once the event was over, I feel that they serve no purpose. I let my animosity towards Daddy draw me into this thread and I regret that. I also should let Oliver speak for himself if he chooses to do so. He is the consummate gentleman and I doubt he would want to be drawn into this. So, in retrospect, had it not been late at night I might have taken a different tact. Today I wish I had. Nothing is served by drawing this out. My days at Daddy's site are over and I should let sleeping dogs lie.

A short message from Lucky. The Palm Springs weekend was started by me in 2005 as a way for posters to meet each other. It was not about escorts, but we were gllad they came. He'll, we were glad anyone came. The second year Oliver organized his pool event but I orva.used everything That became impossible this year when Daddy kicked me off his site. He was invited to the party this year against my express wishes by people who were themselves guests and had no right to invite anybody.

Dane, my comment just referred to the number of threads we had about Palm Springs. I am THRILLED to have you on the board, and hope you will like it here. Self-promote all you want, I'll be glad to look at your pix anytime!
-
As long as you don't throw a Thai boy into the mix, I would choose you. No offense, Dane. You'd definitely be on the list!
-
LOL. And I was so sure that no one would see me.

We had Dane start a thread about Oz, then Oz starts a thread about Dane. A bit much in my opinion. But, I do like Dane and I do like Oz, so may be I will start a thread about that. What is disgusting over at Dadys site is that the Weekend sounds like it was all about him. He had nothing to do with it. He only came because someone paid his way, flight, hotel, and Follies ticket. I just wish they had bought him a better outfit too. Maybe his donations will soon go up. Oliver deserves the praise, but the escorts are too busy sucking up to Daddy.

There are now 3 threads referring to the Palm Springs Weekend. Anyone care to start a fourth?

I have vouchers, or coupons from both Delta and United. The Delta vouchers, $100 and $50, were given to compensate significant problems I endured with one of their flights. The United coupon came as a bonus for signing up for their credit card. Guess what? All of the coupons are virtually worthless, which is to say, they don't apply on any of the flights I tried them out on. Sure, if you want to fly to Podunk at 2 am, you might be able to use one. And that's it. So, when the airline is offering you that voucher for giving up your seat, read the fine print, twice!

This IMPORTANT NOTICE was posted a week ago. Nothing has come of it since then, Why is that? Has no one lost any weight? has no one any technical issues? Is no one so ornery that they cannot create a thread destined for the sandbox? C'mon guys, at least lose some weight!

I don't think hotels should offer a benefit like that.

We were glad to have you attend. I noticed that you were very popular, receiving a nice ovation when introduced at the restaurant last night. Who was that guy in the kilt that you were chatting up? I think AJ was in the hearts of many of the guys there, if not all! But it was great to see all of the escorts there.
-
Truly. Who are these guys who win when no one has heard of them? No one, well, me. Arpad Miklos is a name I have seen before, but that's it. Rumor has it that the guys who win the Hookies are the ones willing to show up for the event. Don't know if that is true.

He wasn't showing either as Mr. Locke appeared without any legend in his company. This after rumors had abounded about which Hollywood star he would bring. But we enjoyed Mr. Locke's presence, and the guest he did bring was a very fine fellow. I had hoped that Scott Adler would come this year, but he didn't. Kristian did not make it either. Nonetheless, there were 11 escorts in attendance at Oliver's pool event today. The weather had cooled off but it didn't dampen the fun. The venue for the dinner last night received unanimous praise. It's hard to see the Weekend end as we had looked forward to it for so long. This year was very enjoyable, maybe more so for me since I had less duties to tend to. But it sure was nice to hear over and over again what a great time people were having. Jason Carter's dinner tonight brings the Weekend to a close with some great memories and some really nice times. You might not realize what great guys you post with until an event like this. My many thanks to Oliver for bringing everything together in such a fine fashion.

I am in shock as I look at airfares for different travel times this spring and summer. Last year I flew to New York for as low as $230, but this year that is peanuts. Flights are $400 and up, sometimes more than $700. San Francisco is no longer a cheap destination for me either. Luckily I got two seats to Rio later this summer using frequent flier miles- 40,000 each. Consider that I used 120,000 miles to go to Thailand in coach, and 32,500 to go to Vancouver. Delta long ago stopped offering frequent flier tickets at the "saver" level. But United was great for finding a seat at 25,000 miles until just recently, when they went to 50,000 miles for just about any ticket. So if you want to go anywhere, book now before it gets worse. And take me with you!
