  1. I know thread the thread is old, but I have a travel bug right now. Places that appeal to me are mostly in Europe- Paris, London theater, Venice, maybe Krakow, or Slovakia, somewhere where time has moved slowly. Copenhagen, but only in the spring. I have traveled a lot in Spain, but would love to do more. Also, closer to home, Mexico, going slowly throughout the countryside, ending at a beach resort after a few days in Mexico City. If I am still alive, I could go to Costa Rica, and then perhaps Colombia. Rio, sure, Buenos Aires, maybe again. Going to Asia, yes, Bangkok again, but then up to Laos and Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I would like to see Shanghai, but I think that is it. Africa does not beckon, even for the wilds of Kenya. The mideast is also of no interest, even Turkey. I can skip Australia, Iceland, the Poles, and anywhere in Russia. But, if I had to stay put, then New York is the place to be. Donations accepted.
  2. I think it means that you did not get the job.
  3. "Some people are upset because we're very observant and so dedicated to the cause." Say what? Who are these people? I want names! Who could possibly object to someone being too dedicated to the cause? Who could possibly object to someone being too observant? Heresy! The only objections I am aware of are people who post for the sake of posting, adding something even though they know nothing of the topic. I have too heard an objection or two towards those who post insipid comments that also add nothing to the thread. But, if they don't say it to your face, then don't assume it means you.
  4. He's only been gone a week. Don't you ever have to be busy for a week and cannot post? Over at the other site you once wondered where someone went who had been gone only 3 days. Maybe we should make you the timekeeper.
  5. She blamed the fart on him.
  6. I believe that this might have been part of a whole dance video that he did shirtless. FOX stopped websites from using it, so I didn't get to see it. He sure can dance.

More likely put out to pasture.
  8. Sorry, Charlie, but I am going to have to call you on that. Please cite the other thread. I went to your profile, clicked on find content, then saw the threads you participated in for the last year. This was the only one you had started since October 17, 2010. Virgins always like to claim some experience!
  9. If you thought kjun was all wet, he just might soon be so as flood waters that have ravaged Thailand now threaten the capitol city. Last year's flood: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2011/10/08/international/i041500D32.DTL
  10. I studied CharliePS' content going back one full year, and it appears that this is the first thread he has started. So no doubt he feels passionately about the subject. Just as my Yankees blew it, so too did the Phillies. They had Halladay and Cliff Lee, the latter fought hard for by the Yankees. Yet little good he did the Phillies when the prime time came. So it shows that money can't buy everything. I have no desire to watch the Texas Rangers play, and hardly more for the Tigers, despite growing up a Tiger fan. My whole family still is. As for Milwaukee and St.Louis, there's not much interest either. Tony LaRussa bored me a long time ago. One Milwaukee player, upon being interviewed by TV, said "Fuck Yeah," thus endearing himself to parents everywhere. So not much class there. Much has been made of Milwaukee pitcher Zach Greinke. Supposedly the Yankees didn't take him because he has mental problems dealing with the limelight. That's not going to help Milwaukee playing on national TV...unless the theory is bonkers, not the pitcher.
  11. Well, of course He did! He created the world, so all that follows is from the Divine Creator. Why the LA Times thinks this is news escapes me. We should thank God for not opening any doors lately for Sarah Palin to crawl through. Here's the Times story on the Republicans favorite candidate: It isn't surprising that Mitt Romney played the "American exceptionalism" card in his first major foreign-policy address. What was startling, given Romney's even temper and moderate leanings, was that he credited God for that exceptionalism. "This century must be an American century," Romney said. "In an American century, America has the strongest economy and the strongest military in the world. God did not create this country to be a nation of followers." This takes the invocation of the Deity a step further than George W. Bush's much-criticized 2003 State of the Union address, in which he said, "The liberty we prize is not America's gift to the world; it is God's gift to humanity." Bush's line is actually anti-chauvinistic, whereas Romney is claiming a divine blessing for his assertion that "We're No. 1." But that makes sense. God is an American, isn't he? (latimes.com) For the FOX News take on the same speech, read: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/07/romney-god-wants-us-to-lead-not-follow/
  12. And speaking of folks who have participated here, and made contributions that have kept the site interesting, I enjoy the contributions that EXPAT has made to the site. His picture collection alone is worth a Smithsonian of gay pictures. Perhaps I don't always make my admiration clear, so I wanted to do so here, while I was also complimenting lurkerspeaks on his contributions. He and EXPAT are consistent contributors of high quality threads, and I do appreciate them. Of course others contribute too, but right now these are the guys on my mind.
  13. It was the Full Monty, and if Oz got a good look at Patrick's dick he has a fast eye. I am not aware of another play where Patrick showed cock.

    Movie Mondays

The Ides of March is a Clooney film based upon the play Farragut North. I saw that at the Mark Taper Forum in LA with Chris Pine playing the role Ryan Gosling has in the film. Having seen the play didn't help me enjoy the movie, as I knew what was coming. The movie is otherwise rather dull, but Gosling is good in it. We had to sit through 25 minutes of previews- I kid you not! The last preview was of an upcoming Clooney film. That didn't help me get past the fact that Clooney was playing a role here. I just saw Clooney the actor, not Morris the politician. I didn't regret seeing the movie, I just wasn't too excited by it.
  15. I just saw The Ides of march, and I must say the crowd was so well behaved that I almost regretted posting this. But, then again, maybe they all had just read it!
  16. Lurker's meds must have kicked him into overdrive. I will say that when I saw the thread title I wondered why there would be a thread about me.

    Movie Mondays

Sorry that I did not notice this thread when I wrote my 50/50 movie review. I saw Abduction, Drive, and 50/50 within a week. I plan to see Ides of March despite the tepid reviews. I liked Abduction, although Rotten Tomatoes gave it one of its lowest ratings ever. It wasn't Oscar material, but enjoyable, especially for a gay man who likes Taylor Lautner, the now of age movie stud. Drive was a better movie, but Ryan Gosling has less sex appeal (for me) than does Taylor. It was also rather gory. And I have written on 50/50 so you already know that I liked it.

  19. From PCMag.com: Pros The thinnest tablet currently available. Excellent 10.1-inch HD screen. Honeycomb 3.1 brings improved multitasking, Flash support, and a higher-quality user experience. Comes with earbuds—a rarity for a tablet. Cons TouchWiz UI means update delays for future Android versions. App selection is weak. Even with a strong Wi-Fi signal, online video playback sputtered in our tests. Bottom Line The Wi-Fi–only Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the thinnest Honeycomb tablet available, and it's very capable, but its Touchwiz UI means Android updates are in doubt. *** I have no idea what a TouchWiz UI is. But I do want a good tablet. The Ipad2 was my choice. The KindleFire might have been a good compromise, but all of your software comes from Amazon (I think), which has no incentive to give you a good price. For example, magazine subscriptions cost more for the tablet than they do for the actual paper copies.

    Movie: 50/50

Here is an article from the LA Times on how some cancer patients react to 50/50, which, I neglected to point out, is based on a true story. Link to LA Times story
  21. I dealt with American again this week on an international flight. 35 minutes on the phone, but when the confirmation came in the mail I saw that my partner did not get ticketed as he should have. So another 22 minutes on the phone today. They charged me a $25 processing fee on his ticket, but the other day they did not charge that for my ticket. I didn't say a word. They had already charged me $175 to get the miles from my canceled trip reinstated to my account. You know that required nothing more than a computer click. So, for my 57 minutes to get the ticketing done, do I get any reward? No, I just pay them $200 for the privilege of using my miles. At least we don't have middle seats to Rio.
  22. Gawker.com today takes a long and hard look at the downside of Mr. Jobs. While everyone else is busy canonizing him, there is a long list of troubling facts that need to be heard, least among them is this: "In the name of protecting children from the evils of erotica — "freedom from porn" — and adults from one another, Jobs has banned from being installed on his devices gay art, gay travel guides, political cartoons, sexy pictures, Congressional candidate pamphlets, political caricature, Vogue fashion spreads, systems invented by the opposition, and other things considered morally suspect." But there is much worse, including the use of child labor and other bad labor conditions on his plants in China. It's worth a read: Jobs: Not A Saint
  23. I was going to add this to the thread I started on 50/50, but it seemed odd to hijack my own thread, so here it is. My apologies if I have created too many threads lately: Kenneth, over at kennethinthe212.com, gives an opinion on seeing the gay movie Weekend. But I was taken with his comments on some of the other patrons as I had two of the other 4 people in the theater with me at 50/50 busy on their phones during the movie: Within seconds, it became obvious these two guys behind us were going to be "a problem" (that one of them had his legs folded in such a way that his FOOT was completely between our seats was our first clue), so we said fuck it and sat all the way near the front, flush right, where we could have our own row. During the film -- which is small and intimate and has thick British accents that are often muffled by the boys lying in bed -- a woman seated near us took -- TOOK!!! -- three phone calls, chatting with someone at a slightly muffled volume as if none of us could hear her because of her courteousness. It's been a week and I'm still in complete shock. Clearly there was no emergency -- her tone made it obvious, as had the fact that she remained in her seat -- so in addition to the phone ringing and her talking, rightfully furious patrons (who had not already seen the picture, mind you) took turns screaming at her -- "Get off the damn phone!," "Hang up that phone RIGHT NOW!" -- all the while the usual amount of phone ringing and texting (you can see the light -- totally takes you "out" of the film) went on, too. Did I mention that I'm still in shock? (kennethinthe212.com) *** (Not to hijack my own thread), but it does seem that people have decided they have a God-given right to talk on the phone or light it up in the dark theater as often as they want!
  24. Well, Epigonos and I agree on guns, that is something! But a Republican party that supports the death penalty and opposes abortion is not a consistent party, so it is no surprise that he might disagree with them on a policy or two. With the Republicans obstructing any progress on the nation's deficit and faltering economy, we might all die anyway. Or at least the nation might. Remember, it's the Republicans who started the wars in Iraq, and Afghanistan, opposed gay marriage and gay soldiers, supported the Bush tax cuts which have contributed so much to our deficit, and supported the Patriot Act which is slowly destroying our civil liberties. I am glad that Epigonos can find at least one or two of those policies to disagree with.
  25. The need to pee when there is no toilet is a human condition known to almost everyone. Leave it to the Dutch to find a way to unplug the leak: AMSTERDAM (AP) — The Dutch national railway has an unusual solution for passengers who need the bathroom on a train line designed without them: plastic bags. The rail operator underlined that the bags, introduced Friday, are for use in emergencies only, when a train has stopped and passengers can't be evacuated. The idea has been met with incredulity by politicians and the general public already unhappy with the short-haul "Sprinter" trains' bathroomless design. NS spokesman Eric Trinthamer confirmed Friday the "pee-bag" plan is not a joke. The bags are kept out of sight in the conductor's booth. The bags have a cup-shaped plastic top and contain a highly absorbent material that turns urine into a gel-like mixture. After use the bags can be sealed and thrown in the trash.
