  1. In the thread about paid media, we discuss various discounts we get from the print media, no doubt in an attempt to keep advertising revenues up. But, I got a really good offer from TIME magazine- 170 issues for $40, plus a cheap clock. It's already paying off, as my first issue has an interview with designer Prabal Gurung that made my day. Not that I had ever heard of him. He is an Asian-American designer who has had a rapid rise, now showing his own label. But the interview was impressive to me not for what it says about women's fashion, but what it shows about this intelligent young man. For example, he is asked: "Paul Ryan has caught flak for his ill-fitting shirts. How would you make him over?" Now there's a softball question! What does he do with it? Prabal: "It's a fun question, but I'm conflicted about answering it. I wish people would pay more attention to who he is and what policies he supports." Me too. To see the whole interview with this guy, who makes me better about the future of the country, see: http://www.time.com/...2123821,00.html (Oops. Subscribers only. Well, it is the back page of the September 17th issue, so read it online at the grocery!) Well, here's another story about him, including the fact that he is openly gay, and including a cute pic: http://style.mtv.com...rung-backstage/
  2. I had to Google fromunda. Never heard of it before, nor had the stain. And, not to be too picky, the First Amendment- yes, it is usually capitalized, probably not necessarily, but anyway, it is to the founding document, not in. So we are speaking of an amendment to the founding document, not an amendment in it. The founding document itself said nothing about free speech. And even the First Amendment only restricted Congress from abridging free speech in laws it wrote. It took the Supreme Court to make it apply broadly. So, even if Mr. Burns had read the Constitution and its Amendments, he might not know that the amendment applied beyond Congress.
  3. The WSJ, for all of its business appeal, used to print some hard-hitting investigative pieces that took no prisoners. I would buy the paper for those. Now, under Murdoch, it's a rare day when any story shows imagination beyond the norm.
  4. I love print news, but find that reading on the computer is easier on my eyes. When did they make the print so small? Well, I really can still read it. As for subscriptions, you get the online free with a print subscription. So I have indeed been lucky. I get the Sunday LA Times for 19 cents. That's right. It was a special for one year, and I was surprised to find that they automatically renewed it at the same rate. The Wall Street Journal came for $99 a year, which gives you about 300 issues, so some 30 cents an issue. But renewal time is here and they want $215 a year- too much for me, especially with Murdoch increasingly making the paper a FOX News subsidiary. The NY Times was at half-price for years. They recently stopped it, but when the bf and I were in New York, there was a booth at Century 21, offering six months at half-price. The bf signed up for it, and they gave us a $50 gift card to use at the store. Hopefully they will renew that one too.
  5. Brendon Ayanbadejo, a linebacker for the NFL Baltimore Ravens, has been told to shut up on gay rights. But indirectly. A Maryland House of Delegates member, Emmett C. Burns, Jr., has asked the owner of the team to shut his player up. Brendon Ayanbadejo has been active in the NoH8 movement, and now says: "I have to thank him more than anything for bringing national attention to the issue," USA Today reports. I don't know if Ayanbadejo is gay, but he sure would be welcome: Read more: http://www.towleroad.../#ixzz25oLlmA4o

    SYTYCD shocker

This is going to fucking ruin my day. Why did I read past the disclaimers? Damn. I was so foolish to ignore the warnings. i guess I got what I deserved then.
  7. Congratulations on your new puppies!
  8. Google, Inc. has refused to unlock an alleged pimp's cellphone powered by its Android software- even after the FBI obtained a search warrant, the Wall Street Journal reports today. It's about time someone tried to draw a line between what the government thinks it can do and what it is legally entitled to do. Recent news since 9-11 has been about how anxious companies were to turn over consumer records to the government. Privacy was quickly dying. So it's nice to see Google step up for a fight. 9. Well, I wasn't out of them, so you can have one!

    Looks A Like?

It's just you. (Well, at least it's not me.) Now, FourAces, what was going on with your day that this even came to your mind? Were you just bored, or utterly bored?
  11. I went to San Juan some years ago and my observations may or may not still be true. The hot Puerto Rican guys I saw in New York prompted me to go, but when I got there, I realized that all the hot guys had gone to New York! Truly, I did not see a plethora of hot men in San Juan. The entire city reminded me of the Mission District in San Francisco. The Old Town district was interesting and worth a visit. But again, no hot men. One gay club I walked by had strippers. The "early" show was at 2 a.m., the late show at 4 a.m. If you spend the day on the beach in the sun, you might get sleepy by 2 a.m. (So, a nap is in order.)
  12. "Likes" are very expensive to produce, and keeping them posted right where they were supposed to be requires high levels of maintenance. Oz has several guys working in the background of the site to keep the likes in place. Theirs is a thankless job, so why not occasionally give them a "likes this?"
  13. Here are some shoes that might pass muster with MsGuy:

  15. Check this one out! British soldiers show their solidarity with Harry by getting naked. Some cute ones, too. http://pinkisthenewb...nakedsoldiers00
  16. I have counted the views since I posted my hidden message- 37, besides me. Geez, I thought this was an out of the way forum that no one looked at anymore.
  17. The NY Post is reporting that a video of Harry's night of debauchery is being shopped around. My guess is that he could not hide the royal jewels for the whole video, and perhaps his spear could not protect him. (UPDATE: This story, reported today, appears to be a recycling of the same story from a few days ago.)
  18. Yes, we can all fly down there to hold onto you as the winds blow.
  19. No, that would have been rude!! We didn't eavesdrop. Just speculating.
  20. It touches my heart to see so many gay men under 30 having such a good time. I have plans to attend the next gay Haagen Daz party, and I love that we don't have to wear shirts there either!
  21. Speaking of the 49ers, and speaking of video, many years ago the bf and i were in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. There, in a front row pew were Joe and his family, on their knees, perhaps praying that Joe's knees would hold out a while longer. Now I know that collectors pay for a lot of things, but I wonder if this video would be of value to a Montana memorabilia collector. It is definitely one of a kind.
  22. Some very funny artist's renderings: http://www.funnyordie.com/articles/fce340f14b/9-places-prince-harry-has-been-caught-naked
  23. Oh, I didn't say that they road in the elevator at the same time! Connie got to ride with me, not Rick.
