Expressing profound regret at how his dick had led him astray and ruined his career, former General David Petraeus announced today that he would leave his wife, the very wife who has just contacted a divorce lawyer, and enter a Trappist monastery,where he would never speak again. The disgraced CIA chief had admitted that he had considered castration, but, he said, "If I did that then that Broadwell broad would probably have it stuffed and mounted, and I didn't want that." Petraeus becomes the 801st former government official to resign after a sex scandal in the last ten years.Only 2 have opted for castration.

Soon I will be giving this topic a rest, but I still want to express why I am so disappointed in Petraeus. We grow up thinking that there are people who are wise, capable, and can lead us in a world of chaos. Not long after we lose faith in Santa Claus, we learn that our parents are not the strong folks we always thought they were. They are fallible. Then we go to college and learn that teachers aren't so smart either. Then we see a shrink and learn that he has no better insights on life that I do. The same for religious leaders. They are either liars or perverts, it turns out. We think we have strong, capable men (and women) in government. But, the more we get to know them, the more we learn of their vulnerabilities. I want to believe that soldiers have it together, make wise choices to protect us, and only wage fair wars. Shoot that one down. We long since have learned that our presidents are only too human. So, we are left to guide ourselves, sometimes with the love and support of families and friends, venturing into the chaotic world a step at a time. I do still believe that there is a collective body of wisdom, gathered over the ages, that offers guidance on our path. Certain behaviors have been known to be good, others bad. If we try to follow the good, we may come through okay. But, life is random, and we are fallible too. So, we do the best we can. I agree that we shouldn't care whether Petraeus puts his dick, but unfortunately he picked the wrong woman, and it led to his downfall. That's it- blame the woman!

When the "likes this" function began, I didn't quite understand it. Did I click on it since I liked my post, or did I only click on it for others' posts? I now see that it is a way for others to say they liked someone's post without actually using a reply. It's also a bit of a popularity contest and, I think, a motivator. If you get into it, you arguably will be motivated to post stuff that will get some like clicks. That's not so easy as some are pretty tight with their likes. Others will respond that they like, but not click the "Likes This" button. Likes are just a way of knowing some feedback about how interesting others are seeing our posts. Of course, the more that you post, the more likes you are bound to get. I did err the other day in saying that I didn't get many likes. They often are clicked after I have posted and signed off, so I don't see them, but later I see my "likes" count going up. You get 25 likes a day to give out,so no reason not to use them. I am not soliciting likes here; they only have some meaning if they are given when you truly do like something. So I suggest you like a lot, and make several guys happy each day.

If it is true, it indicates that Petraeus was pretty sloppy on the secret stuff, not a good role model for a general or a CIA chief. Unrelated photo:

Well, throw this into the mix, from SFGate: During a talk last month at the University of Denver, Broadwell raised eyebrows when she said the CIA had detained people at a secret facility in Benghazi, Libya, and the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate and CIA base there was an effort to free those prisoners. Obama issued an executive order in January 2009 stripping the CIA of its authority to take prisoners. The move meant the CIA was forbidden from operating secret jails across the globe as it had under President George W. Bush. CIA spokesman Preston Golson said: "Any suggestion that the agency is still in the detention business is uninformed and baseless." Broadwell did not say who told her about CIA activities in Libya. But in an Oct. 26 appearance on Fox, Griffin did in fact mention "three Libyan attackers" who had been taken into custody by CIA agents. The CIA has adamantly denied the reports. When the FBI later opened its investigation into the relationship between Broadwell and Petraeus this summer, following clues that appeared to suggest someone may have hacked into the director of the CIA's email account, they found classified documents on Broadwell's personal computer, according the The Wall Street Journal. Investigators eventually concluded that the documents had not been given to Broadwell by Petraeus, and dropped that line of inquiry. CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Fox had not reported the presence of Libyan prisoners at the CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya, at the time of the attacks, prior to Paula Broadwell's speech in October. The original story cited reports raising the question of whether Broadwell may have been the source for the information. Jennifer Griffin had appeared on Fox News Oct. 26 and mentioned the prisoners.

Sure. let'smove on. But forgive? This guy was set up as an example for young soldiers, and he failed them. He was set up as a leader, and he failed. He endangered the security of the country; although it could have been minor, he should't have. We now have a leadership vacuum at the CIA because of him.

Now it looks as if a second woman is involved with Petraeus, and all of this came out of a catfight between the two women. And all ths went right past the FBI vetting team?

Even Diane Feinstein now agrees that a resignation was the right thing to do. This affair has apparently been going on for years and Petraeus only owned up to it when he got caught. Since those who worked with him in the Middle East were aware of the affair, how did it escape the scrutiny that comes with being nominated to head the CIA?

I guess that we are dispelling any idea that we are a bunch of rich guys throwing money at escorts!

Is there a man who does not appreciate a compliment? Even straight guys can take pleasure in hearing a gay man compliment him. After all, we are experts on men.

Several staff members keep track of my spending for me, and they let me know quickly when a problem develops. I say that rather tongue in cheek, as the idea that I might have a problem with money is laughable. Of course, I just lost an expensive race for President... Oh, me? Ha! I have so little money these days, but I do know where it goes and when. An advantage of having litle is that there is less to follow.
