  1. We once had a great trip on Eva Airlines to Asia in Business Class using Lifemiles. Never again could I find a Business Class trip that didn't require an outrageous amount of Lifemiles. Until today. R/T to Rio from LAX on Avianca for 135000 miles each. That works for me...except for a new twist. The trip takes 27 hours and stops in San Jose CR and Bogota with long layovers. If they made it easy to do stopovers I might consider that as I would avoid the layovers. But it's always been hard to do a stopover on a free Lifemiles trip, at least in my experience. Any advice?
  2. @TotallyOzYour next trip? We never heard about the trip you said you were taking in December! Still thinking of moving?
  3. First Republic Bank reimburses you for ATM fees worldwide.
  4. My impression of the scholars writing about bottoming have never actually had the experience. I wonder why they assume that "power bottoming" is a modern thing.
  5. Only Firefox.
  6. The problem continues. Some days I don't have any problem, then the same log-in that worked yesterday doesn't work the next day.
  7. I also looked for the poll, but didn't want to go deep into the site. A flaw in the Costco link is that they did not give a date for the survey...or actually any other info. Take it with a grain of salt, but I'll bet that the Bangkok Chamber of Commerce is adding more than salt!
  8. Nice people, the knowledge that I have gone somewhere different, the history, the art, the ambiance. These are my main reasons to go.
  9. Is that your only criterion for a desirable destination?
  10. The February Costco Connection magazine reports that a survey by TravelMedium.com gives Bangkok the award as the most popular tourist destination in the world! Now, I am a big fan of Bangkok, but I would think that Paris might top it. There definitely is a lot of competition. Of course, most people haven't gone anywhere lately!
  11. So I went to gayguides.com to find a list of gay bars in New York City. Much to my surprise, there are none. At least that was the result of my search. I entered "bars" and "New York City." Shouldn't that have come up with a list?
  12. I like the Windsor Miramar, but have never tried to bring in a guest.
  13. It's so much hassle. I prefer to stay home.
  14. Bangkok 8 is well worth reading for fans of Thailand.
  15. A Washington State Trooper told the governor to kiss his ass, he wasn't getting vaccinated. He is now dead from Covid. https://nypost.com/2022/01/29/washington-trooper-who-defied-state-vaccine-mandate-and-told-gov-to-kiss-my-a-dies-from-covid-19/
  16. I am in my 70's and have had no problem with the sauna guys.
  17. No, I only log in when I am on the site.
  18. In the upper right corner, my user name and password are stored. For years I have used it to sign in. But now I get a page saying that "something is wrong" and I am referred to a new page with my stored information. That works, I can sign in there, but why the change? what is the "something" that went wrong?
  19. @vinapu Is the restaurant at Foodland really bad?
  20. @readerHappy New Year to you too.
  21. I watched the original 1961 film yesterday, and liked it at least as much as the new one.
  22. I saw West Side Story this afternoon and I was not disappointed. The old songs were well-performed by the new cast. The singing and dancing was fun. The Puerto Ricans had little charisma, but I was starstruck by Ansel Elgort as Tony. He did a great job. Sadly, after the film wrapped, he was accused of causing pain to a sexual partner several years ago. Naturally, she waited to say anything until he had a big movie role.
  23. Kudos to all making the trip. I won't be, but the idea of quarantine in the first 24 hours is a big turn off since I can rarely sleep when I first arrive. Quarantine me the second day! (j/k)
  24. I am so happy to see the posts from the travelers who have made it to Thailand. Thanks, guys!
  25. If you look for trouble, you will find it. I didn't, and had safe trips on several occasions.
