A Little of This Would Go a Long Way to Cleaning Up Wall St.
RA1 replied to TampaYankee's topic in The Beer Bar
Or, is the federal government a part of Goldman, Sachs et al? People say there are no conspiracies but they should look up the legal definition, also collusion, restraint of trade, monopoly, etc.. Best regards, RA1 -

Absolutely. Fines are regarded as part of the cost of doing business. Best regards, RA1 -
As a matter of fact he did work for the CIA. They were looking for non-US citizens to fly military style aircraft in Columbia that were used to eradicate plants from which cocaine was made. At first he US used US pilots but then switched to foreign pilots for what for some may be obvious reasons. These aircraft flew side by each loaded with plant poison with at least one armed aircraft in trail, in case of any trouble. Best regards, RA1

True. Even some of the "best" escorts sometimes forget or run out of supplies. Unless you mean emotionally unprepared which happens to all of them from time to time. And, very often to clients. Best regards, RA1

What, no DVD player? No Redbox in the lobby? A old friend of mine seemed to frequently find himself near where there was a coup going on, just happened or was about to happen. He maintained that tanks at the palace gates did not much interfere with ordinary business. His advice was to stay away from politicos and their demonstrations. But, you all be careful now, you hear? That would be the "traditional" scientific approach. Science first, all else a distant second. Best regards, RA1

Still some care must be exercised. Groups from here and there---OK. Individual travel from various, be careful. This is what I glean from the above. Best regards, RA1

It is not "where" but "who" you marry that counts. Best regards, RA1

One interesting thing about weather such as this "out west" is that cells are seldom embedded, meaning they are not surrounded by other clouds. This makes it a lot easier to circumnavigate them because one can see the beginning and end of the cell with the naked eye. This does not make them any less ferocious. In the Mid-South, we have to depend much more on radar because a huge percentage of level 5's, tornadoes and other "nasties" are embedded. Best regards, RA1

Classic cars? I suppose by definition any car still running and over 50 years old is a classic. Perhaps Cuba has gone from "we can't afford newer" to " super green"? Better than muff diving? Best regards, RA1

Thanks goodness for the extreme reactiveness of O2. Otherwise we could not survive any number of pursuits we entertain AND we would not have "easy" cooking fires, also for warmth. Never mind "modern" transportation. On and on. Do you mean evolution "overcame" or "dragged" us this far? Inquiring minds want to know, also nosy SOB's, what transpired in BOS or did you not go? Best regards, RA1

I am sure there are at least a jillion (big number) possible ramifications to that question. However, possibly the most germane one is that our atmosphere has a constant ratio of oxygen in it but the pressure declines with altitude. This makes it more difficult for our red blood cells to have enough oxygen to make us happy with their combination. High altitude residents do not have some "magic" ability to adjust, they simply make more red blood cells. Anyone can do it. Just live at a higher altitude for a few days and nature will take its' course. Alternatively, one can have red blood cells removed at a lower altitude and then reinserted when dwelling for a short time at higher altitudes. Some athletes did this when competing at such venues as Mexico City, etc. A bit extreme but it works. Best regards, RA1

I do that kind of stuff all the time. Wanting to go and being able to afford to go, either economically or workwise, are entirely different things. Best regards, RA1

Charlie PSP- Politics aside, if the US capital has to move to LXV (Leadville, CO), the highest public airport in the contiguous US, most of us are in deep trouble (as if we are not now). If everything very much under 9,000 feet MSL is under water, life will indeed be difficult. That is above the tree line so what crops will we have? OTOH, the boondoggling will be reduced. 747's cannot land there. In fact, I think the Sherpa lifestyle will be admired and followed to some great extent. If you fly into LXV they give you a certificate for having arrived alive. I think they follow the "normal" procedure if you don't depart OK. They bury you. Best regards, RA1

With the current shortage (price) of limes, it has been known that one could trade a dozen or so from their back gardens for one or more free drinks at the local cantina. Best regards, RA1

What is a gourmet sandwich? Sounds like you were exercising your gourmand appetite for boys to me. Best regards, RA1

As suggested before, I think they are very sincere in trying to help other folks. Many folks, especially those here in the South, do not believe that money alone can solve very much of anything. Necessary, yes. A complete solution, no. The GF has very kindly set up an education fund with specific goals here in the MEM area. So far as I can tell, it is benefitting a few teachers but few or no students. What I call a complete flop. Spending more and more money on education seems a national tragedy. The students hereabout get $9,000 each spent on them with no real progress is sight. Plus, such as what the GF spends (+ others). In general (not specific to education) I like Paul Tudor Jones' approach to helping others. Lend them money, provide business advice and then, if they don't perform in a "reasonable" amount of time, eliminate their funding. What I call real world help. Best regards, RA1

Who can know what really went on in the mind of Herr Doktor? Without a doubt he helped Nazi Germany with their rocket program and used slave labor while doing so. However, what his ideological and political state of mind really was likely can only be known for sure by him. Did he have a complete "change of heart" when he went to work for us? We never would have gone to the moon or certainly not as soon as we did without the group of German rocket scientists who lived in HSV and thought it reminded them of Germany. Our Germans were better than the USSR's Germans. Best regards, RA1 HSV=Huntsville, AL
