I think virtually all pols think themselves above the law, at least until they are caught. Best regards, RA1

https://www.thoughtco.com/how-many-terms-has-obama-served-3971835 I did not state various suggestions were "serious", only that they existed. Best regards, RA1

Much the same was said about BO (not leaving when term expired). Did not happen and will not happen with DT. Best regards. RA1

One might hope that the FBI was targeting Trump, otherwise one might conclude that any and everyone might be targeted by the FBI in order to further prosecution. Changing emails does seem a bit unlawful. I was alive during the end of J. Edgar and hope we never endure that again. Best regards, RA1

Is it not the job of any President to defend the various powers of the office? Is it not the job of any President to obstruct Congress (legally, of course)? Best regards, RA1

I think these charges are without substance. However, the House has enough Democrat votes to proceed with the articles of impeachment. The real question is how the Senate will handle the trial. In other words, how long and how involved. Trump will not be convicted. The public will be and has been long sick of these things. The next question is how will the Democrat base vote? I see Trump re-elected and I hope a lot of the Dems will be turned out. Best regards, RA1

So far, Trump has not flown to HI for golf. Best regards, RA1

I am nothing if not cynical. If you always expect the worst, you will never be surprised. However, I always hope for the best, no matter how far fetched it might appear to be. Tell me you have NEVER taken an opposing view for the sake of education. Best regards, RA1

Do you mean pure, unregulated political power? Best regards. RA1

Have you ever changed your mind? Of course I am not for unqualified "anyone". Best regards, RA1

I appreciate your respect for my position. Thanks. However, I do not support this President, only what he has affirmatively accomplished. I do not like his tweets, his disavowing of other's positions, etc. But, I am against the socialism as spoken by most of the Democratic possible nominees. This is a capitalistic republic and DT is mostly supporting that ideal I abhor the divide that is now among us all. This is no way to accomplish what needs to be done. Best regards, RA1

Do you think any other President has spent less relatively speaking ? It cost many, many dollars to protect the President and therefore the costs are as observed. Best regards, RA1

So what do you think of jet fuel made from algae? Best regards, RA1

Michael Bloomberg Apologizes for Stop-and-Frisk: ‘I Was Wrong’

At least you are blaming (correctly) the guy at the top rather than the cops on duty. Best regards, RA1 -
We have to do something to annoy one another? Best regards, RA1

In a court of law, hearsay is generally not admissible. Oops, this is a political court (of fantasy?), not a court of law. Best regards, RA1

I liked the river cruise advert. Playing an organ with 5 keyboards must be somewhat similar to shooting an ILS with one engine inoperative while pumping down the landing gear. Best regards, RA1

Shades of the British Parliamentary procedures but with less acrimony. Best regards, RA1

She thought that FDR was leading the US down the road to socialism. She did not like multiple terms for President. She did not like social security. She did not like WPA and the other programs that FDR, according to her, foisted upon the US. I don't think she liked much of what FDR was doing. It surprised me that she spoke of it at all in a public school situation but she did. At the time and now I really don't know what she stood for, only what she was against. This was a long time ago and while I remember the situation, some of the details are now fuzzy. Best regards, RA1

Sorry that I brought it up. It was just a random thought. I have no good reason to dig into my memory all those years ago, your request notwithstanding. Perhaps other random thoughts I might have in the future will be more appealing to both of us. Best regards, RA1

For the record I am an independent. Otherwise, the poll you suggest above smacks of envy. I believe it is a socialism mantra to take from others. I happen to believe that it is good for everyone to work and contribute to the welfare of others. I also recognize that today finding a job for everyone is not so easy. I have no "easy" solution like medicare for all, free tuition, a guaranteed payment from the government, etc. If these solutions were to be enacted, confiscating ALL the wealth of the "1%" would not be enough and when that is gone, then what? I think you believe in capitalism and these "programs' are not it. Best regards, RA1

I wish you could have heard my Problems of Democracy teacher rail against FDR. I was taken aback at the time but upon reflection much later realized she had many points in favor of her argument. Now I think that FDR had good and bad points just like Trump, Obama, etc. Do you think there is a "shadow" government. At the very least others unduly influencing our executive and legislative branches? I think there is that possibility although I am not a big fan of conspiracies. Best regards, RA1

I finally watched an episode. It was OK once you got past the "faux" Southern accents of Jimmy Smits (who, like you, I like) and others, some who did not have any accent at all. My brother in law once claimed that mid western folks, like him from New Mexico, had no accents at all. Still, I liked him. Best regards, RA1
