  1. At first I thought the broadcast suggesting that whoever opened the containers of cobalt 60 was in extreme danger was warning them to cease being in contact with it without its' container. However, later news seems to simply affirm that if they were in contact with it for very long they are walking dead. I do not think there is any treatment for over exposure to radiation. Perhaps a very strong pain killer? I am trying to evaluate what the point of this news story is. The cobalt was abandoned and is being "safely" recovered and will eventually be disposed. Therefore the criminals apparently really wanted the vehicle and only opened the containers to make sure there was not some "treasure" enclosed. Yes, there was; deadly treasure which will surely kill them. I have to suppose one point is simply the propagation of "news" and another is to warn criminals to be wary of what they steal. Sorry to say, both very nebulous concepts. Criminals will not be stopped and "news" is overwhelmingly available or so it seems. Best regards, RA1
  2. Even good cooks have been known to "create" smoke during cooking, especially here in the South. Best regards, RA1
  3. A Geico ad talks about a marvelous invention that is even better than having text transliterated into voice and vice versa, called the telephone. Similarly, Hito, you could make do with something so useful I almost dare not mention it and that is pen and paper for all your important stuff. If questioned, you can always wad it up and swallow it. Best regards, RA1
  4. I have seen this before but always worth another look. Fantastic. Best regards, RA1
  5. You left out lying. However, tell it to the pols in DC who will ignore you just like the police do. Best regards, RA1
  6. Good thing you italicized or I would have homed in on the word, "heap". There have been a lot of heaps in my lifetime from heap of trouble to heap of debts. Best regards, RA1
  7. Oh, if we could only find folks to SERVE and not TAKE. Best regards, RA1
  8. I have always thought it to mean "soon" but exactly nothing else. Still in wide spread use today, at least in the very large back woods in which I live. Best regards. RA1
  9. I MUST remember to keep and find an eel to keep for the time when and if I find an escort with a HORSE cock. Will that make him more lively or will he just moan and groan, I know not which whether in agony or ecstasy? With the plethora of English words already extant, I always find it amazing that some think we find new ones to incorporate. I have to think we are disregarding older ones when we do. Best regards, RA1
  10. I think you have given a new definition to "hot sex". Best regards, RA1
  11. I guess that I am lucky enough to make this a difficult task to choose one thing that made me smile a lot. I really enjoyed flying the FEDEX MD-11 simulator. I really enjoyed and appreciated the first time I flew a single engine aircraft across the Atlantic Ocean. However, overcoming adversity and helping another overcome it, provided at least one of the "top 10" smiles. An instructor at the Piper Aircraft Factory begged and begged me to let him take a trip across the Atlantic. Finally a trip came up that seemed suitable. There were two aircraft so we could fly together with the plan to go to Goose Bay, Canada, then Greenland, then Iceland and finally Scotland and the UK delivery point. We got to Goose Bay OK but he got cold feet. The weather wasn't good enough + a long list of reasons/excuses to not proceed to Greenland. I spent two days talking to him and trying to decide what I was going to do if he really didn't go. Finally, he went. We made it to Greenland OK and re-fueled, then proceeded to Iceland. Spent the night in Iceland. He was elated to have successfully made two 600 mile over water legs and to be in Iceland. I think he ordered the Icelandic equivalent of a bucket of chicken that night. We had one more 600 mile leg to Scotland which was made without further cajoling or unusual conversation about it. Just file the flight plan, get fuel and go. I was satisfied to get the job done and satisfied that he had overcome his personal problems. Apparently he crossed off an item on his bucket list. I don't think he ever did anything similar again. Best regards, RA1
  12. That story did not make it perfectly clear that the whole thing was started partly as a joke and partly as a protest against some actions of the US government. It was never intended to be a "legal" license but just a symbol of protest. Then it kind of evolved into a possible money maker for the town, still tongue in cheek. The FAA and therefore the US government "owns" the airspace and individuals and states cannot usurp this idea for their own purposes. No shooting and no hunting of airborne FAA recognized vehicles. 14. Before FEDEX, which is a home town MEM hero company, no one realized they needed anything "over night". As we all know, the "fad" spread quickly and widely, but lately and especially during the down turn in the economy, many, many businesses are realizing they do NOT need it overnight. Every company that I do business with thinks long (not too long) and hard about how quickly they really need a part or document, etc. During my career, I would speculate that the percentage of overnight parts delivery went from almost 100% early on to only about 20% now. During that time, the freight cost has more than doubled. Also, companies that stock a wide variety of parts are fewer. Therefore, regardless of how soon you may want it, it may not be available over night. FEDEX recognizes all of this and has expanded their ground delivery business and capability enormously. Personally, I do not remember the last time I ordered anything over night unless it was strictly for business, not personal consumption. With all this in mind, never mind the aviation ramifications, I think Amazon is barking up the wrong tree. Of course, I have been wrong before. Best regards, RA1

  21. I did not at first notice the macerated in brandy which could likely refer to me during the holidays. I hope we will receive several other recipes. I cannot imagine Christmas without many, many recipes important to various families. Best regards, RA1
  22. Light fruit salad I can pineapple chunks 1 can tropical fruit coconut flakes to taste---several tablespoonsful Maraschino cherries 3/4 cup nuts of your choice 1 container of Cool Whip lite or similar Thaw Cool Whip, gently incorporate other ingredients and serve. Nothing fancy but a nice exception to "heavy" desserts like pies, cakes, etc. Best regards, RA1

Actually it was because the engine barely ran with such fuel. But, some people will try anything if the price is right. Best regards, RA1
  24. As most fruitcakes are aged years at least, this sounds interesting and one should be able to resist for a week. If not, make two at once. Sounds delicious. Best regards, RA1 PS---Is the mace the stick variety or pepper spray or what?

    LUCKY

I think the perils were experienced by any who consumed such. The chemical/distillation process was fairly straightforward. BTW--I have known and heard of folks who used "lightly" distilled oil in their cars, products that only vaguely resembled the gasoline that should have been used but the price was right. However, I have never heard of using white lightening to run a car. Perhaps gas was so cheap and sugar and corn turned into drinking whiskey was so lucrative there was never any need? Best regards, RA1
